Hello, so I am Rithika. Once I have told a secret or a truth to my friend Neelam. She is my best friend. The truth was that I went to Goa with my friend who was just a stranger few months back. We met online, we started talking and suddenly we made a plan to go to Goa, meet Goa. Like first time we were about to meet at Goa. So this was the truth I told my friend Neelam. Neelam got shocked when she got to know that I am going to Goa to meet a friend. That too he is a stranger for me and first time I am meeting him, that too in a different place, Goa. So she was shocked. I told her because I know that she is my really good friend and I haven't told this thing to anyone else. So I thought I should tell someone this thing because though I have trust that guy but still if anything happens to me there is someone who knows that where am I or who can keep a track on me so that the guy also get to know that Neelam is her friend and she is telling everything to Neelam. So I told her everything and the basic thing behind telling her all the things is that she can keep an eye on me or just can make a track on me. So she is a very good friend of mine, kinda best friend.

Follow up questions

Why do you think it's important to share secrets with friends?
I believe sharing secrets with friends is important because it builds trust and strengthens the bond between friends. It allows us to feel supported and understood, especially when we are facing uncertain situations. Friends can provide guidance and help us feel safer.

How did Neelam react when you told her the truth?
Neelam was initially shocked when I told her about my trip to Goa with a stranger. She expressed concern for my safety and wanted to know more about the person I was meeting. Her reaction showed how much she cared for me and emphasized the importance of communication in our friendship.

Have you ever regretted sharing a truth with someone?
There have been times when I felt hesitant about sharing certain truths, fearing judgment or misunderstanding. However, I generally believe that honesty is crucial in friendships. If I ever regretted sharing something, it was usually because of miscommunication rather than the act of sharing itself.

How did your friend react after you told her the truth?
After the initial surprise and tears, Deepali expressed her happiness for me but also her disappointment for not being informed earlier. We had a heartfelt conversation about it, and she eventually understood my reasons for keeping it a secret.

Have you ever had to tell a difficult truth to someone else?
Yes, I have had to tell difficult truths before, such as when I had to inform a friend about a family issue. It was tough, but I believe honesty is important in maintaining strong relationships, even if the truth is hard to hear.

So there was this friend of mine, her name was Ananya and she was quite a close friend of mine, we got very close in college in my 11th and 12th grade. An important truth that I have to tell her which was very hard for me to tell was that she was quite a physical touch than normally and I get a little uncomfortable when people touch me without my permission, even casually. So at first I couldn't say it to her because we were not that close but as we gradually grew closer over a short time I decided that I have to tell her and so when I decided to tell her that I don't like it when she initiates this much physical contact with me. And her reaction was quite what I expected, she was a little weirded out that I was a little like that but she understood it after a little while and I believe that she was quite hurt but it's okay because I had established a boundary between us and I'm glad that I did it. Her reaction was not what I expected but as we gradually learned to accept it and I was glad that I told her the truth, that's it.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

I would like to talk about a time when I had to tell an important truth to my friend Abia. She is one of my closest friends from college. We had been in the same class and shared similar rooms in hostel life and the truth was that besides whatever she studies and she takes so much time for studying. She always studies each and everything very neatly and clearly but her grades always was low. She would burn the midnight oil and it was a tough nut to crack. The problem was her handwriting was very messy and it was very small and it was very difficult to read. So I always tell her to write clearly and more specifically but she she thought that I was offending her and at first she neglected my advice and tried repeating the same mistakes but after realizing that she came and apologized to me. She started improving her writing skills and I sat with her and practiced her for improving her handwriting. Now she has a lot of improvement and her grades are now currently progressively increasing day by day

So there was a friend of mine, we both were friends since our childhood and then we did a same job, we become colleagues. So what happened one day, one of my colleagues told me something about my friend and it was about something related to work, about her work. And I did not tell her because I wasn't sure about it and my colleague told me not to tell her. But by mistake, we both, me and my friend were sitting in a cafe and by mistake I told her the truth that my friend told me, that my another colleague told me. At that time, she was shocked and she wasn't able to digest the fact that another colleague of mine has told this about her. And for me, it was really important to tell her because it was something very personal that was a rumor that was being spread and I don't want her identity to be ruined. A guilt inside me was eating me and was pushing me to tell the truth so that the rumor that is spreading of her should be stopped. And that is why I told her all the story that has been made up by a colleague just to disrespect my friend and put her in a situation that she will never forget and yeah, so I told her the truth.

Ashan and I were friends since kindergarten. We grew up in the same town. We went to the same school. We liked the same things. Even our parents were friends. We liked the color blue so much that we always wore blue colored clothes. We used to sit on the same bench since kindergarten till high school. She and I were so close that if one of us was absent, the teacher would automatically ask the other where Sneha went or Ashna went. We were that close. Then we stepped into teenagehood where things got a little bit dramatic. As you can imagine, we also fell for the same guy which none of us didn't expect or realize until it was too late. But it was important to tell the truth to her. I've never wanted anything bad for her. She's been my best friend since day one. The one person I care more about in the whole wide world. And of course, I told her the truth. She was upset at first. But we got through it as friends do.

    Band 6-7

So I had a friend and I don't really feel comfortable sharing her name so let's just call her Annie. So I told Annie that I felt left out because she was always hanging out with this other girl and she did hang out a lot with me as well but I felt that she was more connected with the other girl compared to me like I felt they both were closer and I didn't really feel like her actual best friend and I just felt like she was just using me as a second option instead of her actual friend and when I told her that she did try to improve that and she did try to change it about herself and she moreover she told the others like we were in a group at that time so whenever they were talking the others of the group were talking she would say that hey let's include her as well referring to me and it didn't really work but she would still hang out with the other girl and it didn't really work out so in the end I just broke the friendship with her. Now we did, now I do talk to her a lot but we aren't really friends. She does consider me a friend but I don't consider her my friend and I felt that it was important to tell her that because I was really feeling left out and lonely and I had even gotten depressed for quite some time so in the end it didn't really work out. I appreciate her.

    Band 6-7

I am a person who always tried my best to be real with everyone. I remember last time I have to say truth in front of my friend just because it was a scam in our school or in our class. I remember there was a scam going on in our class like our teacher distributed the exam paper saying that it is a scam. I am a person who always tried my best to be real with everyone. I remember last time my friend was under the weather and due to that she was not able to attend school for a long time. But after her recovery she finally come to school and there was a SPY test announced by our teacher. We were a little shocked but we still tried our best to score great in our exams. Even my friend is a topper she used to give her best. She worked down to dust to score higher in every exams. At that time the paper was leaked by our teacher to another student who was weak in that subject. But we was not even aware of that. Moreover we feel like it's a big scam with us because we also burn our midnight oil just to be great at our classes. So it is a partiality with us. So I tell her the truth that it is the teacher's mistake that we are not able to achieve the real marks. We should get it. And after that we went to principal office to discuss this matter and even the teacher got the right punishment he deserves and we get the right marks we deserve.

So, I had a friend in first year of my college, her name was Sharmila Apni and she was from Karnataka and the truth was that she had lice in her hair and I came to know about it because during summer time we had a two bedroom room which was converted into three so it was summer time and I volunteered to share the beds with her because my bed was right below the fan. So while we used to sleep side by side, I discovered that I had lice in my hair and when I sort of tried to find out the cause of the lice, I realized that she had been having those in her hair for quite a considerable amount of time. So what I did, I kind of knew how sensitive the topic was so I confessed to her in private and I told her, hey you have lice, you should definitely. And what I did was, I actually got the shampoo, the lice shampoo. So she was of course, she was aware of it but she felt bad that I got it from her so she used the shampoo and she got herself rid of lice and now we are good. We are in talking terms and she took it very sportingly I would say. Yeah.

So earlier I thought I would have corrected, I would correct it without telling her but later I had a guilt with me and I thought of clarifying it with her and she was quite happy that I told her and it was brought to her notice that it was wrongly happened everything and finally the things were in place and it was good. I replaced her clothes with a new cloth of the same design colour combination and she was very happy with it and later I too had no guilt and I was also happy that she was happy and she was very understanding and cooperative with whatever unknowingly incident happened and I too got a lesson that never borrow the things which we cannot really take care of it or which are very delicate to handle.

    Band 6-7

So, my friend's name is Revan Reddy. He is my childhood friend. I have been studying with him since my 4th grade. And he is one of my closest friends in my life and he is one of the most important persons in my life. Truth is, I always didn't like his behavior and even his character, he always blames me for everything he does. So, that's a very important truth I wanted to tell him that stop blaming me for everything till now and don't put me into everything which is not important, which is important. So, that's the truth and he is always very messy and I wanted to say him that you are always very messy and you should keep yourself clean. And I think this is a very important truth because it not only helps him when he is with me but also it might affect the people in his future like someone who might come into his life in the future. So, I think this truth is very important for him to make changes in his life which could make his life better. And I think the truth which I told him or which I confessed him is very important for him because knowing his character and his way of behavior may not be seen by himself but the others who feel or who spends time with him feels the truth about him. So, that's the truth I wanted to say him that he is very messy and he is untidy which is not very going to help him in the future and also his character of blaming others for everything he does is very bad. And I wanted to tell this and confess this truth on his face but this is the time I got to do this. So, that's it.
