So, I have been in many long queues during the course of my life, but one of the most memorable ones would be the queue that I was standing in for almost four hours in the year 2019, in the month of March. My 10th grade board exams had ended about two days before this happened, and my school had decided to keep our 10th grade farewell, the once in a lifetime opportunity to wear a beautiful sari and be surrounded by all your 10th grade friends for one last time on the day when I was supposed to go to the passport office to obtain my passport, and that was going to take a very long time as it always does. Obtaining a passport was a very crucial step at that point because I was aiming to study abroad and I needed my passport as soon as I could. However, I did not anticipate that it would be on the day of my farewell, and hence I was standing there in line for four hours. My farewell was supposed to start at 5 p.m. and I was at the passport office until 4 p.m. after which we had to rush back home, and my mother did not know how to pin a sari, so we had to call on a lot of people from our building, and I felt like I was getting helped by little birds to get ready for the farewell. All in all, the line was long and it was very stressful to stand in a line thinking that I might miss the one chance I get to meet my friends for one last time before we go off into the world as adventurous 16-year-olds.

Follow up questions

How did you feel while waiting in line for so long?
I felt a mix of anxiety and excitement. I was anxious about missing my farewell, but also excited about the future. The long wait made me reflect on my school years and the friendships I had built, which added to the emotional weight of the moment.

What did you do to pass the time while waiting?
I tried to distract myself by chatting with others in line. I also thought about my farewell and what I would wear. I took out my phone to check social media and text my friends, hoping they were having a great time without me.

Have you had any other memorable experiences waiting in line?
Yes, I remember waiting in line for a concert ticket once. It was a long wait, but the excitement of seeing my favorite band made it worthwhile. The atmosphere was lively, and I made new friends while waiting, which made the experience enjoyable despite the wait.

The time when I stood up in a line for a long period of time was when I visited Tirupati temple which is located in Chittoor district. I can even say it is the most famous temple of Andhra Pradesh. When I was in my middle school, I visited Tirupati with my parents and also my cousins joined me. We went there, people usually get to Tirupati and start their walk towards the main pilgrim which is Lord Venkateshwara temple and as usually, we started walking towards the temple and along the way, there was a huge line of people and the crowd was very huge. So we entered the line and stood up for too long and that exhausted me. But instead of all the suffering and pain I felt throughout the line, when by the time I saw the main temple, all of my suffering and exhaustion went away and turned into excitement. So I think that's the time when, but I felt very relieved after that and went to take rest in my hotel room which my father booked for us.

Follow up questions

How did you feel while waiting in line for such a long time?
While waiting in line, I felt a mix of exhaustion and impatience. The long wait was tiring, and I could see many people around me feeling the same way. However, I tried to stay positive, thinking about the experience I would have once I reached the temple.

What did you do to pass the time while waiting?
To pass the time, I chatted with my cousins and parents. We shared stories and talked about our expectations for the temple visit. I also observed the surroundings and the people in line, which made the wait feel a bit shorter.

Would you visit the temple again despite the long wait?
Yes, I would definitely visit the temple again. The experience of seeing the temple and the spiritual atmosphere made the long wait worthwhile. I believe that such experiences are part of the journey, and they add to the overall significance of the visit.

When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

Answer

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

It was back in 2017 in June, when the demonetization happened in India, that demonetization was when the notes of 500 and 1000 currencies were banned. So we had to go to banks and exchange the notes that we had at our home. So I had been to the bank nearby and I was there in the line for almost seven hours to exchange my notes in return of new notes. Because since it was a sudden announcement, there were a lot of people there who had come to exchange their notes as well. So it was a very long queue and it made me very exhausted because the heat was scorching and it was becoming very difficult to stand in the queue for six to seven hours straight with no break.

Follow up questions

How did you feel while waiting in line for so long?
I felt extremely exhausted and frustrated. The heat was unbearable, and standing for so long without a break made it even worse. I kept thinking about how I could have spent that time more productively, and it was mentally draining to see so many people around me also waiting.

What did you do to pass the time while waiting?
I tried to distract myself by chatting with the people around me. We shared our experiences about demonetization and how it affected us. I also listened to music on my phone, which helped me cope with the long wait and the heat.

Have you ever experienced a similar situation before?
Yes, I have experienced long waits before, especially during festivals or public events. However, none were as long as this one. It made me realize the importance of patience and planning ahead to avoid such long queues in the future.

The time when I stood up in a line for a long period of time was when I visited Ambaji temple which is located in Danta district and Danta Jilla and Balaskara district. I can never say it is the most famous temple. The origin site of the Ambaji Mata is on Gabbar hill top in the town. The temple of Ambaji is recognized as one of the original Sakti Peeth where according to ancient scriptures, the heart of the goddess Ambaji fell to earth when her body was dismembered. Also called the heart of Shiva's consort Sati fell here. It was a very positive energy and I am going there with my principal and the inspectors who are coming to our college to inspect for the inspection of all the buildings and academic year program. We have to stood up for too long period of time and that exhausted us but instead of all the suffering and pain I felt throughout the line when by the time I show the main temple all of my suffering and exhaustion went away and turned into excitement.

Follow up questions

What do you think makes waiting in line worthwhile?
I believe that the anticipation of reaching the destination and the experiences we gather while waiting make it worthwhile. In my case, the spiritual significance of the Ambaji temple and the positive energy I felt made the long wait seem insignificant.

How do you usually feel when waiting in long lines?
Typically, I feel a mix of impatience and curiosity. However, during this particular experience, I was initially exhausted but eventually felt a sense of excitement and joy as I got closer to the temple, which shifted my perspective on the wait.

Have you ever had a negative experience while waiting in line?
Yes, there have been times when I felt frustrated due to poor organization or long delays, especially in crowded places. However, I try to focus on the positives and remind myself that the wait is often part of the journey.

So, there was this concert, me and my friends were looking forward to going to recently. So, what happened was, I insisted on getting the tickets because it was the venue which sells tickets was close to my home. So, I thought, I reached the venue a bit late to be honest. So, I thought it would not be a huge line, I thought it would take me an hour or two at the max. But it was not, I am kidding you. So, that was a huge line, I got into the line and it was a really bad experience. So, it took hours and hours of long, my legs were cramping like hell and as it was summer and I didn't carry a water bottle with me or any kind of beverage with me, I was getting extremely thirsty and extremely panicky and being it very sunny and being it in that afternoon time, I was getting extremely sweaty as well. So, I was losing my patience and the line was not getting any shorter, it was going on and on and on and on and on. And to my bad luck, my battery on my phone was very low and it didn't carry any portable charger or any power bank with me. So, I was literally fighting for my life as my phone was fighting for my life to reach that end of the line, get that where they get the tickets I want. Totally, the whole line and the ticketing experience was really bad but the concept was amazing. So, I would really say it was worth the wait.

Follow up questions

How did you feel while waiting in line for so long?
I felt extremely frustrated and anxious. The heat made it worse, and I was worried about missing the concert. My legs were cramping, and I was getting thirsty, which added to my discomfort. It was a test of patience, but I tried to stay positive thinking about the concert.

What would you do differently if you faced a similar situation again?
Next time, I would definitely arrive earlier to avoid long lines. I would also bring water and snacks, and ensure my phone is fully charged or carry a portable charger. Being better prepared would make the experience much more enjoyable.

Did you learn anything from this experience?
Yes, I learned the importance of planning ahead and being prepared for unexpected situations. It taught me to manage my time better and to always carry essentials like water and a charger, especially during events where waiting is involved.
