Describe a situation when you were late.: IELTS Speaking Cue Card

I would like to talk about a situation when I was late. It was my NEET exam. NEET exam is an entrance test to get admission into medical colleges for the course MBBS. I went to the exam centre 10 minutes late because I was stuck in traffic. On the day of examination, in my city there was a CM visit so the traffic congestion was there. Moreover, I got late for only 10 minutes but the exam centre did not allow me to enter the hall and write the exam. I felt very sad about that thing. Moreover, I have to give up for that exam on this year. Consequently, I prepared for the next year. Finally, I cracked my NEET exam with a score of 580 out of 720 which was a decent score to get admission into reputed universities. And finally I got admission into Mahatma Gandhi Medical College which was about 17 km away from my home. I recommended my brother to write the same exam but I advised him to be on time to the exam centre.

I got an experience, I have an experience recently because in my working schedule we have to do punching and signing before 1 p.m. On that typical day, as my in-law was in the weather, I took her to hospital for treatment. Because of that I couldn't reach my working time, I couldn't reach my working place on time. So, but anyhow I punched right 1 p.m. but I couldn't do signing in front of the superintendent before 1 p.m. After changing to uniform I reached at her office at 1.15. She inquired the reason for the late. Then I told ma'am this is because of because of this hospital purpose I couldn't reach here on time. She told it's not an excuse, we are not able to accept late punching and late signing. As this is the first time I'm giving a warning now, don't repeat the same. Then I told definitely I will make sure that this type of things are happening again. Afterwards I made my whole efforts to reach my work place.

I was late to an entrance exam and the factors that led to the same were mainly traffic, transportation problems and lack of time management from my side as well. When I reached the exam centre, I was in a situation of panic and I was thinking that I would not be able to give the exam as I was very late to the centre. Moreover, with some buffer, I somehow managed to reach the exam centre and they allowed me to give the exam. I was not in a good mood then because I had a really big fight at my home as well. In addition to that, I got late to my exam, so it caused a cascading effect and I was thinking that I would not be able to perform well in that exam due to the factors I already told you. A situation when I was late, it takes me back to my grade 12th year when I was late for an English speaking test. Those were the board exams period and I remember I had a centre which was quite far from the place that I used to live. The person that I am, I prepare myself well, I pack all my stuff in advance, even I plan my clothes in advance so that I don't want to be late for any particular event per se. However, that day a very misfortunate incident happened. While I started travelling, I decided that instead of taking the train I would take a cab. When the journey started, it was quite okay for the first 20 minutes. However, I was suddenly stuck in huge traffic as there had been an accident on the road. The situation was completely chaotic. I was in a panic state of mind because I could not understand what to do. At that time I did not use a mobile phone and thus I could not reach out to my friends in order to inform them that I am on my way and it would take me some time to reach and it is a legitimate reason that I am late. However, I reached my college. Yes, I was not allowed to give the exam the same day because according to the rules for the board exams, I need to be present half an hour prior to the centre. I was very embarrassed. It was very shocking for me. I started to cry. I clearly remember

I got late to my economics viva when in my last semester it was that was because I forgot my project report I forgot my project report in my room and I and I was I have to go to my I just have to go to my room and get it as soon as possible so that I that is because I forgot my project report that has to be submitted in the office room that has to be submitted in the office room so that I got where I got now I got very much nervous in that situation so that I felt like I felt like I'm losing something I may lost marks

There are several days that I become very late and one day, at this situation, one day I was completely out of my mind and I was being late at that time. When I was in college, I used to go by train and at that time, our college held that event where we have to report it on 11 o'clock but because of my negligence, I reported at 9.30 and our train was departed by 9.45 so I reached at 9.30 though but because of my negligence, my friends were getting angry at me and at that time, I was so afraid and so nervous as well so basically, I was stuck in the traffic and because of that also, I got, I got, I reached late at the station. Thank God that at that time, I managed to survive to reach the platform and still, there was that situation, my friends were, kept shouting at me and I felt guilt at that time but I got lucky at that time.

So this event happened quite a long time ago, I would say. So I was running late for this event. This event was a prize distribution for students who have won various kinds of awards in art, sports, academics, and various stuff like that. So I was running late because I was very anxious about this event and I forgot to set up an alarm for the morning. So I woke up late and I was running really late. I really felt bad about this because a lot of students were waiting for me. Since I was the host of this event, I was the center. So this event couldn't have took place without me. A lot of people, including the faculty, the students, their parents, waited for me for I think around 30 minutes. I felt terrible about it. I apologized immediately and I even explained them the situation that this was a thing that I had. So I definitely learned that even if you do find something stressful and if you are anxious about something, you just need to let it go and just try to do your best. Try to be on time because you're not just wasting your time, but you are wasting a lot of other people's valuable time. So I definitely feel horrible about this situation now that I think about it and this was a very important lesson for me.

last year at my brother's wedding we were supposed to arrive at 9 a.m. but a very accident happened that day in the morning my father got his spines injured and that morning he actually fell in the bathroom and that very situation made everything worse we had to go to the doctor first and then to the wedding I was very excited for my brother's wedding from a very long ago from lot of months I prepared everything my dresses my hair accessories everything but that very moment destroyed everything I was actually also worried about my father but as well as I really wanted to go to the wedding because it's my own brother's wedding and I couldn't miss that also

If I talk about the situation when I was late, the situation is that when I was in 11th standard in target defence academy then in night we all used to go to nightfall for counting for attendance and after that once a day I was late to attend the fall in so I went there sometime late and because of that I was punished from the teachers and they said why are you late, you don't have any type of discipline like that, they all had criticized me and I really feeling so bad because it's my first time that I was late because I am a regular boy, I was always present in everywhere on time at class at night or fall in and anywhere like that but that's the first time and I was punished for it I'm really feeling so embarrassed for at the time when I was going I knew that before sometime I knew that I was I will be late for sometime for fall in and I was not expecting that I was punished by teachers because I am regular boy and so I was punished by them that's all
