The Computer-based GRE Test is conducted monthly in India on all days, excluding weekends and public/general designated holidays. Applicants can check the GRE dates/slot availability at their selected test centres and proceed further with the registration Process.

GRE at Home Exam Dates
There’s no hassle of travelling to your nearest test centre.
The GRE test at home is available all 7 days a week and is entirely identical to the one you'd take at a test centre. This is an excellent chance for students to save time and money without compromising test quality.
However, not all universities accept the GRE at-home version. Make sure you check with your university before you apply.
You must also meet all the test requirements to take the GRE test at home. Please ensure this if you’re taking the GRE at home:
- You must take the test privately, alone in a room with no interruptions
- Taking the test in public spaces is not allowed
- You must place your laptop/computer on a tabletop
- Your ears must be visible during the test to ensure you don’t have any headpiece on.
- Avoid accessories like jewellery, tie clips, cuff links, ornate clips, combs, barrettes, or headbands.
Below are the equipment requirements as per ETS.
Computer Requirements:
- Desktop or laptop computer; you cannot use a tablet, Chromebook™ or mobile device.
- Multiple monitors or dual screens are not permitted.
- An approved operating system must be licensed. Unlicensed or test-mode versions are not permitted.
- PC: Windows® operating system, version 10 or higher
- MAC®: Mac OS X® 10.13 or higher
- Chrome™ or Firefox® browser.
Speaker:
- You must only use an internal or external speaker during the exam.
- Headsets or earphones are prohibited.
Microphone:
- Headsets are prohibited.
- You must only use the microphone attached to an internal or external speaker.
Camera:
- You can use a camera built into the computer or a separate webcam.
- Before the test, the camera must be able to move to show a 360-degree view of the room, including your tabletop surface.
Rescheduling or Cancelling GRE Exam Dates
If you wish to cancel or reschedule your GRE test dates, you must do so four days before the test date, or you won’t be eligible for funds. You must pay ₹5,000 to reschedule your GRE test.
Remember, cancelling or rescheduling your GRE exam dates should be done as early as possible. This will ensure a smooth process and minimise any potential fees or complications.
To cancel your test appointment:
- Log in to your ETS account on the official GRE website
- Go to the "My GRE Home" page
- Click the "Cancel" option next to your scheduled test appointment
- Confirm the cancellation when prompted
Please note that depending on how far in advance you cancel your test, you may receive a partial or no refund. You will receive a partial refund if you cancel at least four days before the test.
After knowing how to cancel the GRE, you must remember to cancel the test at least four days before the test date to get the refund. You can get a 50% refund if you have cancelled the GRE test before the given time.
