The directions for the prompt appear for 30 seconds before the timer begins, giving you the time to read and consider the prompt and prepare to respond.
Similarly, the Speaking Sample allows for a 1—to 3-minute response, during which you will speak at length about a topic shown as a written prompt.
Again, 30 seconds are given for you to read, consider the prompt, and prepare to respond before the recording begins.
The Writing and Speaking Sample prompts in the Duolingo Practice Test cover a range of topics related to:
- Everyday life
- Education
- Work
- Current events
Some of the prompts may ask you to describe a personal experience, give an opinion on a social issue, or explain a concept. The topics are designed to test your ability to communicate effectively and coherently in the language being tested.
After the test, you can review their responses to these samples. It's important to note that institutions that receive the test results will also receive these samples.
Therefore, taking these sections seriously and responding thoughtfully and clearly to the prompts is essential.
