Duolingo Practice Test: Writing and Speaking Sample

The Duolingo Practice Test includes a Writing and Speaking Sample as part of its assessment process. In these sections, you are given prompts and asked to respond at length. 

 

The Writing Sample allows for a 3—to 5-minute response, during which you will write about a topic provided as a written prompt. 
 

The directions for the prompt appear for 30 seconds before the timer begins, giving you the time to read and consider the prompt and prepare to respond. 
 

Similarly, the Speaking Sample allows for a 1—to 3-minute response, during which you will speak at length about a topic shown as a written prompt. 
 

Again, 30 seconds are given for you to read, consider the prompt, and prepare to respond before the recording begins.
