Duolingo Results: Score Report
Duolingo scores range from 10 - 160. Like most English proficiency tests, Duolingo awards an overall score and subscores.
The following modalities make up your subscores:
- Literacy: the ability to read and write
- Comprehension: the ability to listen and read
- Conversation: the ability to speak and listen
- Production: the ability to write and speak
Each of these areas receives a score of 10-160 (subscore), indicating your level of performance. Based on your performance in these areas, you will also receive an overall score.
Duolingo Result Review/Recheck: How to Appeal Your Results?
There is no option to review/recheck your Duolingo results. Students often confuse the ‘appeal’ option for reevaluation, but it’s different. Duolingo uses AI and human proctoring to score your test, which means there is little to no space for any errors in scoring.
Therefore, there is no chance to request a review of your scores. If you’re unsatisfied with your scores, you may take the test again.
The appeal option is for scores that contain a label ‘invalid’.
If you receive an invalid result, you are eligible to appeal.
To appeal your Duolingo results, follow these steps:
- Log in to your Duolingo account.
- Find the ‘My Results’ section under your tests.
- Find that score report that says invalid.
- Describe the reason for your appeal.
- Click on ‘Appeal my result’ to submit
You cannot appeal a valid Duolingo result. You have only 72 hours after the test to appeal an invalid result.
What is a good Duolingo score?
A Duolingo score above 120 should be good enough to get you into a few good universities. A 120 Duolingo score is equivalent to 6.5 in IELTS.
However, you should remember that all universities have their benchmark and standards. Most reputable universities are highly competitive, which might mean aiming for a higher score.
