PTE Registration: Step-wise Process

You can book your PTE Registration dates as early as months before the test and as late as 2 days before the test date.

Any later than 2 days will incur a late registration fee.

However, booking as early as 2-3 months before the test may not be ideal! It’s good to book a date you feel the most confident about, considering your health, schedule, and university application timelines.

PTE can be taken both at home and at a test centre. If you wish to take the test at a centre, you must complete the additional steps of choosing your nearest PTE exam centre and booking a slot.

The PTE exam consists of various types of tests designed for different purposes. PTE academic is the right exam if you use the scores to apply to universities. On the other hand, PTE General is a good fit for non-academic purposes.

Both these tests can be booked online. The PTE registration process is completely digital and takes only a few minutes.

Here is a step-by-step breakdown of PTE Registration for you.

  • The registration process starts with goal setting. You will be prompted with questions like “Where do you want to go?” and “What do you want to do there?” Make sure you answer these questions correctly.
  • The website will then suggest the correct PTE test for you. For example, if you want to study in Australia, it will suggest the PTE Academic test.
  • Click the ‘Check Availability and Book’ option to find a slot.
  • Select a location based on your convenience.
  • Find a PTE exam centre and date that is most suitable for you.
  • Enter your personal details, and make sure your details match your passport.
  • Answer a few booking-related questions and agree to Pearson’s policies.
  • Pay the PTE registration fees.
  • Click on ‘Submit Order’ to complete your registration.

PTE Registration: Documents Required

Pearson does not request any sort of documents during the time of registration. However, it does require you to carry a valid identification document, such as a passport, on the exam day.

If you don’t have a passport, you can show the following documents as an acceptable ID:

  • Valid government-issued driver’s license
  • Photographic government issues ID card
  • Military card

Note: these are acceptable documents only if you’re taking the test in the country you have citizenship. If you do not have a passport, it’s best to reconfirm your ID with your test centre to avoid any last-minute surprises.

You must also ensure that the name on your registration form matches your passport.
