One of the most difficult things I've ever done was participating in an inter-college debate competition and actually winning first place. I've always been quite shy when it comes to public speaking, so standing in front of a large audience and expressing my opinions confidently was a real challenge for me. When I first heard about the competition, I was hesitated to participate because I was afraid of forgetting my points or getting nervous on the stage. But one of my professors encouraged me to give it a try, saying it would help me grow. So I decided to step out of my comfort zone. To prepare, I went weeks researching the topic, which was about the impact of social media on society. I practiced my speech multiple times in front of friends and even recorded myself to prove my tone and body language. Despite all the preparation, I was extremely anxious on the day of event. My hands were literally trembling when I walked up to the stage. However, once I started speaking, I gradually gained confidence. The audience engagement motivated me and I managed to deliver my arguments clearly and passionately. When the results were announced, I was declared the winner. I was absolutely thrilled. It felt like a huge personal victory, not just because I won, but because I conquered my fear of public speaking. That experience taught me that real growth happens outside your comfort zone. Now whenever I face new challenge, I remind myself of that moment and instantly it boosts my confidence.

Follow up questions

How did you feel before and after the competition?
Before the competition, I felt extremely anxious and hesitant, worried about forgetting my points. However, after winning, I felt a tremendous sense of relief and joy. It was a mix of pride and accomplishment, knowing I had overcome my fear and succeeded.

What skills did you develop from this experience?
I developed several skills, including public speaking, research, and critical thinking. I also learned how to manage anxiety and engage an audience effectively. These skills have been beneficial in both my academic and personal life.

Would you participate in another debate competition?
Absolutely! After this experience, I feel more confident in my abilities. I would love to participate in more debate competitions to further hone my skills and continue challenging myself in public speaking.

So, the most difficult part I face in my life is preparing for the CAT. I started preparing for the CAT prior a year. I tried solving mock tests. I tried solving the questions which our teachers used to give us. I used to watch YouTube videos to excel my logical reasoning, quantity, aptitude, and English tests. That is vocabulary. Before a year, I started doing it daily. I used to practice at my home. I used to watch videos and used to learn the vocabulary from the YouTube part. After daily practices, giving continuous mock tests and being consistent in that, I scored 90% in my CAT. Right now, I am in Sambalpur and I am really happy that I cleared the CAT exam and got an IIM, a prestigious institute and 10% of the population can achieve this achievement and I'm happy that I am one of them. So, yeah, that is the difficult part I faced in my life and that's how I succeeded it.

The difficult thing that I have done recently was giving my GMAT focus addition test. This decision was made after a set of failures. I had given common admission test that is called as CAT, which is used to get into top B schools in India, but I had seen a failure there. I also had seen one more failure in my professional career. I was not promoted as a consultant and I also had faced lot of other setbacks in my personal life. At that time, deciding to give a GMAT and trusting my ability and trusting my math and verbal skills to give a GMAT again was one of the tough decisions which I had taken. So after I took this decision, I was clear that let keep the past aside and then let's focus on the present and the future. I took proper steps one after the other, preparing using official guides and official mocks. I was able to see gradual increase in my score and at the end of the day, during the day of GMAT focus addition, it was all fruitful. I got a very good score from which I can apply to some top B schools all over Europe. I look forward to utilize this score to get into top B schools and also continue this journey of trusting myself and trusting my capacities to be myself.

One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

The most difficult thing that I did was to clear the Mahadasha and Saptasha period of Jupiter and Rahu. I had severe blackouts along with memory loss and I was not able to focus on a particular thing. To add flavor to that salt, I had 5-6 backlogs from Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and was not able to complete the degree in 2013. It took almost 2 extra years to complete them. But the main important part that I emphasized on was Patience, Perseverance and Persistence. I had that 3 qualities with which I was able to succeed. It was a period of stuff but I managed somehow with the help of parents. Along with that, getting a job after engineering was the most challenging part. I prepared for interviews and ensured that I was selected at almost all the rounds which I gave.

    Band 7

For me, a difficult thing that I did and succeeded in was the habit of getting into reading. Well, ever since I was young, for me, reading had always been a difficult task as I was not able to concentrate very long and books initially seemed very boring to me. My mother insisted that I start reading books because she has always been a big fan of books and have encouraged me to pick it up and read it. But I had always been sceptical since I had the habit of only reading the books that had photos in it. When my mother suggested that I read novels, I was very sceptical and I was not very interested in it. The first book that I read, it was the toughest book to read because I was not in the habit of reading. It was time consuming and it required a lot of dedication. But as I consistently started reading the book, by the time I finished that book, I had gotten into a habit of reading books. The things I did so that I could get into the habit was I used to dedicate one hour every day to reading books and soon it became two and three hours because I started enjoying the books that I read. Once I got into the habit of reading, I felt a sense of accomplishment because this had been a thing that I had seen as a major setback that I was not into the habit of reading. And my vocabulary and my English enhanced a lot due to reading books.

A difficult thing that I did and succeeded in would be writing my entrance exam to join a bachelor's in architecture. This exam is called NATA and I wrote it about six years ago. It was difficult because of the large number of students writing this every year and securing a good rank was definitely a difficult task. I was able to succeed and secure the 11th rank in the country and I think that is one of my biggest achievements till date. I remember my parents beaming with pride and calling up all my relatives to tell about this achievement. I was immensely happy and the day I got those results was something I would never forget. I prepared for this exam by consistently working on it every day and giving a few hours on different subjects every day. I think that rigorous way of learning and that relentless efforts definitely made me achieve this and I will till date take away all the lessons I've learnt while preparing for this exam. It is truly something I hold true to my heart and very dear to my heart.

One of the most challenging experiences of my life was attending a conference for my last internship. I travelled to Hyderabad all alone in the middle of the night and I was very terrified because I'd never been away from my family before that. I'd never travelled on my own and also I was visiting a place where everyone was going to be a stranger so it was very difficult but when I went there I met a couple of delegates from the conference right at the airport and we quickly became friends. I travelled to the venue with them and throughout the five days I spent a lot of time learning new things, having conversations with people that I still have not met again but people that I still consider as friends. I even got to deliver a space for around 200 people and it was really terrifying but it definitely made me a more confident person and yes I'm really glad that I took the step to do that.

Okay, so difficult thing that I did was clearing SSB which I considered it as a difficult when I started my this journey of SSB. So let me give you a glimpse of it so after I got graduated, then my father sent me a notification in about an SSB interview. I can get through interview directly because I did my professional course which is bachelors in architecture through that I will get a direct entry. So I didn't knew about army recruitment before that but I got, I filled out that form and after a week or so I got the interview call in my mail that was scheduled in July that is scheduled from July 14 to July 18 it was a 5 day process and in back in 2023 I am talking about 2023 so I was preparing through YouTube lectures and some of my father's friend who were in army right retired colonel and very high post in army. So I talked to them, they guided me through that and I didn't took any guidance or anything I went just like that to take an experience of what is SSB and what is army all about what we called it as army disciplines. I wanted to experience that so I went there but luckily I got screened on the very first day and after 4 days it was a whole interview process which includes the physical activities interview, psychology test and everything and I succeeded in it. So I considered it as a difficult thing which I succeeded but in the final list I got married out due to various reasons.
