One of the games I enjoyed the most during my childhood was chess. Although I wasn't very fond of outdoor games, I did occasionally play badminton, a local traditional game called lagori, which is quite popular in my village. But when it comes for true passion and enjoyment, chess was always my favorite. I first learned chess when I was four years old. My dad taught me the basic rules and I remember losing repeatedly. What made it special is that it is where I learned confidence from. Every time I lost, I wanted to fight. I wanted to fight stronger, think outside the box. I remember spending hours trying to master openings and traps. And as I grew older, I even participated in some inter-school tournaments. What I love most about chess is that it's not the game of luck, physical strength. It's a game of logic, planning and mental strength. Even today, I still enjoy playing chess, especially online. So, while most of my friends had their playgrounds, I had my chessboard and it holds a very special place in my heart.

Games like soccer and basketball teach teamwork and communication, while games like Sudoku and puzzles enhance problem-solving skills. Each game has its unique benefits, but I believe strategy games like chess are particularly effective in developing critical thinking and planning abilities.

Do you think children today have the same opportunities to play chess?
While many children today have access to chess through online platforms and apps, I feel that the personal interaction and mentorship I received from my dad are irreplaceable. However, schools are increasingly incorporating chess into their curricula, which is a positive development.

So a game I really enjoyed playing when I was younger was cricket. So I used to live in a gated community in Sohar where I was mainly brought up in. And every evening me and my friends would gather around and most of them were boys which is why they preferred to play a manly sport which I suppose is cricket although most of us girls also enjoyed playing it. So it would involve with the girls usually being fielders because we were judged for not being able to bat or bowl properly. But we used to take turns and we all really enjoyed it. It was very memorable for me because I did not have a lot of friends before moving to that gated community and I was a very introverted child and still I am. But just meeting all those friends every single evening reminded me of how I used to just sit in my room and read books or watch movies endlessly because I had no other option to spend my time. And I was very grateful for meeting all those friends whom I am still friends with and I love them very much.

That's an interesting one. When I was young, I really don't play much of a game. I really don't get involved in the physical activities that much in a game, basically talking about it, but especially whenever I'm like thinking to have some physical movement or activities. So I used to do a lot of parkour. I don't know if that counts in a game. I'm not sure about that, but I really love to parkour. When I was younger, me and my sister are buddies who literally team up and do crazy kind of activities like jumping from our own terrace to someone else's building and having a view over there. I know it sounds very crazy, but it was like the most memorable moment for me. I really enjoyed the moment a lot, but at this time, if I think about parkour, I cannot even imagine that I used to do that thing earlier. The bodies were so flexible, and it makes you feel so much more active, and I feel like I wish I could have continued that thing so that I can carry that thing along, but obviously, at this moment, I am the total opposite. The parkour thing needs a lot of pressure, like a lot of physical strength, and it takes a lot of risky things. I've seen a lot of YouTubers or people do the parkour, which is very risk-taking, but I feel like I would really love to do that once in my life again.

Follow up questions

What other activities did you enjoy besides parkour?
Besides parkour, I didn't engage much in other physical activities. However, I did enjoy some casual games with friends, like tag or hide and seek. Those games were fun and allowed us to be creative and adventurous, even if they weren't as intense as parkour.

How do you think parkour has influenced your life?
Parkour has definitely influenced my life by teaching me about physical fitness and pushing my limits. It made me more aware of my body and its capabilities. I learned to be more confident and adventurous, which has helped me in other areas of my life.

Would you encourage others to try parkour?
Absolutely! I would encourage others to try parkour, but with proper training and safety measures. It's a fantastic way to build strength, agility, and confidence. Plus, it can be a lot of fun if approached responsibly, and it fosters a sense of community among practitioners.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

The game is cricket. I often play in the evening after coming from the school and I used to play with my friends. It feels very interesting playing the game because cricket is an emotion to me. Every Indian man does the same. In the summer we used to play six hours a day and that was very good. Playing with friends makes the game interesting. We will be making four types of franchises and we will be playing PPL. It's a Palmukul Premier League in our village. It's very good. There will be an intense fight between two teams who wanted to win. I used to cry after losing the match. After winning I will be very happy.

I used to play carrom with my siblings and with my brother. We used to play it in the evening after the school hours and we really used to enjoy that game. It was a very fulfilling game for us and we also get some time to spend with our friends. And it was the time when I was like in my school days, near about in my 3rd to 6th class. So till 3 years it was our routine. We were so happy about it. The best part of the day was to be in the evening when we all sit together and play carrom. And it was so so happy moment for all of us. We were just like, we were so competitive that who win that game. And then we used to celebrate it and my mother used to cook a sweet dish for us. So we used to enjoy that too as well after playing the game. And then we used to sleep. So that was our routine and that was the game. Very nostalgic.

When I was younger, I enjoyed a lot of games, but I would like to say one of the best games where I played from when I was at 16 age, that is badminton game. I used to play with my brother because he was very elder more than me and he always supports me in my sports. Now I am professionally playing as a sports person in badminton team. One of my role model is PV Sindhu and the thing is that I enjoy from my childhood, I used to play these badminton and it gives me a very warm and fit and it gives me a very enjoyment and this is really encourage me to do some good exercise and because of this I get the passion and the fame from and the public know me who I am because of this sports and this always give me the chance to play and I win one of the match in last month where I really feel good playing for the country and it is really give me a encouragement.

One game I really enjoyed as a kid was Hide and Seek. It was simple, but the thrill of finding a good hiding spot or trying to outsmart the seeker made it feel like an adventure every time. We used to play it outside the neighborhood kids, running around trees, hiding behind cars or even squeezing into tiny spaces. The suspense of hearing footsteps getting closer while trying not to breathe too loudly was the best part. I really enjoyed playing Hide and Seek. But as we grew up, you know, everything just changed and everyone was busy in their lives, so we didn't get that much to enjoy. Thanks for watching!
