I'm going to talk about the promise that I have made once. So after completing my school educations, I was forced to study the medical course for becoming a doctor but I have not interested in it. So I have studied a medical for nearly one year. So after completing that I had no interest on that. So I decided to change my career on engineering. So I asked my parents to allow me to pursue the engineering course which is based on information technology. So after that my parents have successfully joined me in the nearby college in the course called information technology. So once I have joined I started to work from day one itself. So I made a promise that I will score the highest CGPA in all over the university. So and I will make them a proud infant of everybody. So this promise makes me to achieve highest band and the result was excellent. I actually made a promise to my mom dad about being honest with them about my love stories and everything. Basically the promise that I made to them was about the love that I will not love anybody in my life unless they select a boy or a man for me for my marriage. I would say that was very tough for me. I made this promise because one day I was caught by my dad talking to a friend of mine. He was about to make me foolish by telling many things. I was not in that age where I could grab things and understand what is happening in the lives. But my dad understood that he was making me fool and making me fall in his basket. On that day my dad told me that is not at all right to do. I made the promise of not lying about the love for them. At the end of the day the promise was not at all easy to achieve. I had made this promise when I was in my school days. But whenever I started growing old I was encountered with many of my friends and everything where I was in love with somebody. But even though I wasn't able to do anything about this since I have made the promise.

Follow up questions

Answer

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

Promise, I think this word means a lot to me because ever since my childhood, the word pinky promise has come up almost weekly once by my parents, because they used to make me pinky promise for so many things like, do you promise that you've eaten your food? Do you promise that you finish your homework? Do you promise that, you know, you've not left any food in the tiffin, etc. So at a very young age, very early on in life, I realized that the word promise is an instillment of trust in something or someone. Hence, I've never really taken this word lightly, and it does have a significant impact on my life. In terms of the promise I've made to someone, I think the most easy thing for me to think about or to talk about is the promise that I made to my now husband on the day that I got married. I promised to love him for life, to be with him in sickness and health, to be with him through all the ups and downs, to never judge him and just quietly and silently be his force standing next to him. So that was the promise that made the biggest impact on my life till now. It's been five years since that day, and it's still the memories as fresh as ever. Apart from this, I think, you know, the promise that he made to me also was the same. And this entire thing, this entire promise is what fuels our marriage today. This promise is what we think about when we fight or we have low days or when we have bad days. And this promise is what gives us hope for a brighter future and a better tomorrow. And this is the one promise that keeps this marriage as tight as ever. I guess that's it.

Follow up questions

Can you share an experience when a promise was broken?
Yes, I once had a friend who promised to support me during a difficult time but ended up being unavailable. It was disappointing and made me realize how important it is to communicate openly about our capabilities. This experience taught me to be more cautious about whom I trust with my promises.

What do you think is the most important promise one can make?
I believe the most important promise is to be honest and loyal to those we care about. This promise lays the groundwork for all other commitments and ensures that relationships are built on transparency and mutual respect, which are essential for long-lasting connections.

But unfortunately when she opened the box with Rajma beans, it was empty. And it was late at night. We couldn't do anything. All the shops were closed. It was a frenzy moment. I started feeling guilty that I am going to let down my friend. And she really wanted to have those Rajma Chawal. And I also wanted her to savour the food that is my comfort food usually on the weekends. I really asked my father also if he could do something, arrange for some Rajma beans. We tried. We asked the neighbours. But unfortunately we couldn't arrange the Rajma beans. The next day I woke up with the sense of guilt that today I will have to face my friend and tell her that I disappointed her and I couldn't keep the promise. So I went into the classroom. I saw my friend. She was smiling at me. Maybe with the hope that I brought the infamous homemade comfort food that I promised her the day before. A well said that the more you practice, the less you will bleed in the fight. So, the same way, I start preparing for my exam. The reason why do I make that promise to my mom is my score was really very bad at one particular moment. And it is not at all easy to achieve that particular task. Although, when I was preparing for my ICSC exam, at that time, I got suffered by some of the disease. It was a stomach ulcer due to which all my preparation went very badly and I was unable to prepare the way I has to. After some time, when I made a promise to my mother, I started working very hard. I put all my efforts and I achieved my desired score. And my mother felt ecstatic about that particular moment and we enjoyed that moment. My mom threw a party for me. I invited all my close friends and that was something which I always remember throughout my life. Whenever you make promise to someone, you have to fulfill that promise. Thank you.
