That's an interesting question. Last time when I visited one of my school friend who has been living in a city called Sikandrabad which is nearly 20 kilometers away from my hometown Hyderabad. My friend's name is Jitender Jain. He has been living in that city since last 20 years. He lives with his parents. So I had to visit him to meet his parents because they had undergone a surgery recently and it is tradition in Indians if someone undergoes any health issue people visit them once after they get treated to wish them well. So when I was traveling towards his home I lost my way. I was traveling on my two wheeler bike. Initially I thought that I was going on the correct path but later I noticed that I had missed my path and I was so confused. I was feeling scared and devastated if I could reach on time or not. So I later figured out the right path by looking at the boards. I started using Google Maps and used it in a navigation mode. In addition to that I also took help from the local people who were living in that area by asking step by step or by asking a landmark nearby to his house. So I reached his house on time by using these techniques and along with that I also enquired with the traffic police who held

Follow up questions

How did you feel when you realized you were lost?
I felt a wave of panic wash over me. It was quite overwhelming because I was worried about being late to see my friend's parents, especially after their surgery. The fear of not being able to find my way added to my anxiety.

What strategies do you use to avoid getting lost in unfamiliar places?
To avoid getting lost, I always try to plan my route in advance using maps. I also keep my phone charged for navigation apps and make sure to note down key landmarks. Additionally, I ask locals for directions if I'm unsure, as they often have the best knowledge of the area.

Have you ever had a similar experience in a different city?
Yes, I once got lost in Mumbai while trying to find a restaurant. I relied on my phone's GPS but it led me to a different location. I ended up asking several people for directions, which was a bit stressful but also a learning experience about navigating in busy cities.

Okay, this is an incident which I recall from my early childhood. I think I was almost 6 or 7. Me and my family had gone for a service at Dubai church and what happened was I got out from the car and I was supposed to hold my parents hand to go to the church but suddenly it was so crowd there was a big crowd and I lost my way and I was holding on to someone else's hand and after few steps only did I realize that I was not with my father and I was instead holding someone else but it was a funny incident because I was not so far away from my parents and they were actually watching it away from me like 4 or 5 steps behind me they were watching what I was doing so it was kind of funny but for me I felt it so bad, I felt so lost, I was feeling so numb because I was not with my parents so I would say that experience was a little bit of tormenting for me for that age but as of now I recall it as a funny incident

Follow up questions

How did you feel when you realized you were lost?
When I realized I was lost, I felt a wave of panic wash over me. It was overwhelming because I was so young and didn't understand what to do. I felt numb and scared, but it was also a bit funny in hindsight since my parents were just a few steps away watching me.

What did your parents do when they saw you were lost?
My parents were actually quite calm about it. They saw me holding someone else's hand and quickly came over to me. They reassured me and explained that I should always look for them if I ever felt lost again. It was a learning moment for me.

Have you ever gotten lost again since that incident?
Yes, I have gotten lost a couple of times since then, but nothing as dramatic as that childhood experience. Each time, I learned to stay calm and look for a trusted adult or a familiar place. It taught me the importance of being aware of my surroundings.

An occasion when I lost my way was when we were on a trekking trip. Me and my friends travelled to a mountain for trekking and even we were having a long trek there for about 3 to 4 hours which exceeded to 5 to 6 hours. When we were on a trek, we were in a certain location where we were stuck there. At that time I came to know that I lost my way back to the home. Even there was no range to our phone, two of them were having their phone battery low. When my phone was switched off, one of my brother's phone was switched off. So when we were in that situation where we lost everything, every hope, in that confusion I tried my best to think about to find a way back to the home. Even there were no forest people to help or guide us. We were exploring new hidden places and spots where we can click photos and make a video that people can reach there. But our bad experience made us feel that we will not go home earlier. Even I got an idea, we were following a path, so we tried to return to that path only. But after certain point, we lost that direction too. After travelling many more footsteps and many more places, we came to a location where we find that we can travel to that mountain which we saw earlier. So we followed that direction and came out of that location and I found my way back to the home.

Me and my family were traveling to Manali and while we were exploring Mall Road, there were many small stalls, so my mom got busy in there and while my father was shopping in a shoe store, so I lost my way with them and I lost the directions, so I couldn't find them for few minutes. I was feeling very depressed in RNGSS, the network there was very bad and I couldn't connect to my, I was not able to connect to my parents, but then I remember that initially me and my mom had discussed that if anyone has lost our way, we will meet at this particular hotel's entrance, so I strolled around the market for few minutes, but then I went back to the mall's entrance and after waiting for approximately half an hour, I met with my mother and the feeling while meeting her was very joyful as we both were laughing, but inside I was feeling a bit depressed as this was one of the rarest occurrences which had occurred with me.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

There have been many instances when we initially end up losing our way which is of using maps. Google Maps is extremely accurate to a certain extent but it has its own limitations. Recently we went to Bangalore to pick up my brother who was studying in the United Kingdom. On the way we used Google Maps to guide us to the Bangalore airport. So we thought we would reach here without any interference or difficulties. But on the way the map keeps readjusting different routes over and over again which causes us a lot of wastage in time. But we have reached there finally. When we reached there we asked certain residents the quickest way. They showed us the exact route to be taken so we can avoid the traffic and other road construction areas. So it really helped us a lot. But on the other hand when we use Google Maps we usually end up losing our way. Because it readjusts itself so as the route gets narrower and sometimes it doesn't even have a continuation. We will end up in a closed road or some kind of road that has certain interference. People think that it's just a piece of cake that using maps is really easy. But that ain't the case for all because sometimes even the technology is so advanced we keep losing our way. But on the other hand it's quite good.

I used Google Maps for that and after one hour of rush in everywhere because it was a new city, I finally met my brother and then we explored the mall road of Mussoorie together and bought various books like a Ruskin Bond as well as from other writers and we explored various handicraft shops, various confectionery shops as well as different malls.

The first thing that comes to my mind was a recent travel. It was about two months back. So, the first one fine morning, I was going on a trip to Coimbatore, where I usually do. But every time when I was traveling, I will use the maps for ensuring the routes that I am traveling correct. But as I was traveling to Coimbatore again and again, the paths are on my mind. So, I thought that okay, this time I don't need a map. So, I brought up myself to ensure I will go by myself through the ways without using the help of the map. But the reaching Coimbatore initially was fine. But while I was returning on a fine evening in the past day, I suddenly just missed out a turning of the road. It had to be the left, but I accidentally turned right as I can't actually identify because it was the noon evening, like it was almost dark. I was traveling for about three to four kilometers further. Then I came to notice that something was wrong. The feeling that was going on at the time was okay. This is not the route that was familiar to my mind and the shops that are going on the sideways. So, I started to think about that and then I stopped for a bit and letting me know where I was in the location as I used my map again. And I was on the wrong route because that was a long route when compared to my previous route that would reach my home a bit a smaller distance so that my traveling expense will be saved. So, then I started to watch the nearer as well as the map and I just returned it to the direct route by the map itself and then I reached the home finally.

Okay, so this happened at Bangalore in 2021. My father and I were trying to find our way to a national park that we wanted to visit. He put me in charge of, you know, tracking the directions using Google Maps. And for an hour or so, we were going around and around in circles on the same street. And he blamed me for it because, you know, he has a really bad temper and he was kind of losing his mind. And I was partially to blame because I did fail to inform him when we missed our turning 15 minutes ago. So yeah, and it was honestly quite a traumatizing experience. And it was it is not something I wish to relive. And it's not because it caused immense damage emotionally whatsoever. But the feeling of not being able to find your way out of something and being stuck in a loop is immensely distressing. As simple as it sounds, it was not easy to forget. Ever since, I have never let my father put me in charge of tracking the directions to a place.
