That's an interesting question. Last time when I visited one of my school friend who has been living in a city called Sikandrabad which is nearly 20 kilometers away from my hometown Hyderabad. My friend's name is Jitender Jain. He has been living in that city since last 20 years. He lives with his parents. So I had to visit him to meet his parents because they had undergone a surgery recently and it is tradition in Indians if someone undergoes any health issue people visit them once after they get treated to wish them well. So when I was traveling towards his home I lost my way. I was traveling on my two wheeler bike. Initially I thought that I was going on the correct path but later I noticed that I had missed my path and I was so confused. I was feeling scared and devastated if I could reach on time or not. So I later figured out the right path by looking at the boards. I started using Google Maps and used it in a navigation mode. In addition to that I also took help from the local people who were living in that area by asking step by step or by asking a landmark nearby to his house. So I reached his house on time by using these techniques and along with that I also enquired with the traffic police who held

Have you ever lost your way in a different country? How did you handle it?
Yes, I lost my way while traveling in a foreign country. I relied on local people for directions and used translation apps to communicate. It was a bit challenging, but the locals were very helpful, and I eventually found my way to my destination.

The maps, GPS and the latest advancement in the technology have made it quite convenient for people to travel across different regions of the world. Earlier times, it was not very convenient because they had to make use of a physical map and it was necessary to ask the local people around. So it was not quite convenient but these days with the advancement in technology, this has been a very easy task and it is quite feasible for everyone to use. But however, I would like to recollect one of the incidents which I faced nearly about 5-6 months ago when I had been to Rajasthan. I was going to a new place which was being recently started that was Chowki Dhani in Jaipur. It was a very huge place and which was known for its culture and tradition and also known as the Mini Rajasthan. It was newly opened so I believe the map was not aware of the exact location. Along with that, it was situated quite far and on the outskirts of the city. So it was quite difficult for me to get over there and the map completely took me on a wrong path and I was lost and there were no shops and nothing. It was quite horrifying experience for me because on top of it, the driver was not aware of this place as I mentioned that it was newly opened. So people were not aware of this place. I had found it through Instagram reel. So it was very much terrifying experience because there was no one. I tried to remain calm. I was with my mother and my father. Along with that, I tried to ask people but they were not aware but finally by asking some of the other people and using some direction, I made a way out of there and then

Follow up questions

How do you usually prepare for a trip to avoid getting lost?
I usually prepare by researching the destination online, downloading maps, and checking reviews. I also make sure to have a GPS app ready on my phone and sometimes even print out directions. This helps me feel more confident and reduces the chances of getting lost.

What would you do if you got lost in a foreign country?
If I got lost in a foreign country, I would try to stay calm and look for landmarks. I would ask locals for help, use translation apps if necessary, and rely on my phone's GPS. If I couldn't find my way, I would consider contacting my hotel for assistance.

Do you think technology has made people less skilled at navigation?
Yes, I believe technology has made many people less skilled at navigation. With GPS and maps readily available, people often rely on them instead of developing their own sense of direction. However, I think it's important to have basic navigation skills in case technology fails.

So, I lost my way for that, I can tell you an experience in my life, which was, it was first day of my internship. I don't have my own vehicle, so I was going to commute with a public transport there. So, I opt for public transport, sorry, opt for public bus transport and I googled on Google Maps, they said take this number bus, which was 276, get on that bus and you will get to your destination. And after that, I took the correct bus number, I asked the conductor, give me the ticket, he said, he gave me the ticket and I told him to tell me when the stop comes. He was like, yes, surely. And then, he forgot to tell me the stop. I genuinely, I genuinely forget when I have to get off the bus and I was listening to music. So, all over, I came for two to three stops forward, which was very, very difficult for me to come back again and then I get off on the third stop and I asked conductor, now what should I do? He said, cross the road, go on the other side and get back on the same bus, same number bus and you will get to your destination. I was like, okay. I got off on the third stop, I started to go there, go there, went there, crossed the road and went there, but bus didn't came. So eventually, I had to book a cab and go to my office, which was a waste of extra money. So, in total, I get to know, I learned a lesson of knowing your, knowing the directions and where you have to go beforehand only, instead of asking any or instead of relying on any other person for directions or for going or forgetting to know the Google Maps. Thank you.

Follow up questions

How did you feel when you realized you were lost?
I felt quite anxious and frustrated when I realized I had missed my stop. It was my first day of internship, and I didn't want to be late. I was worried about how my supervisor would perceive me, and I felt a bit embarrassed for not being able to navigate properly.

What strategies do you use now to avoid getting lost?
Now, I always check the route on Google Maps before I leave and take screenshots of the directions. I also try to arrive early so I have time to find my way without rushing. Additionally, I keep my phone charged and ready in case I need to look up directions again.

Have you ever helped someone else who was lost?
Yes, I have! There was a time when I saw a tourist looking confused at a bus stop. I approached them and offered to help with directions. It felt good to assist someone else, especially since I had experienced being lost myself. I guided them to the right bus and wished them well.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

So exhibition was really very big and I couldn't imagine how big it was and I couldn't say how big it was. While we were riding games and playing adventurous rides, my father and my mom usually fight over small issues. At that time, they were arguing with something that I really don't know, but the argument got bigger and bigger and they fought with each other. This made them to move separately to move others on the opposite direction and in the between of the argument, they just forget me and they just left me at the exhibition. I really don't know whether they have searched for me or not, but I was crying all the way walking to people asking about my parents, have you ever seen my parents or something. So how did I just cope up with the situation, like I just ran over to a police officer and explained about my situation and he just kept the ball rolling to get my parents to give.

    Band 6.5

One occasion when I lost my way was when I was returning from college. I remember it was a scorching summer on that day. It was a time when I had to return from college early. I always travelled by bus and the bus usually dropped me at the location. As I had to return early, I used metro. My drop location was Chadar Ghat. It had two ways to get down. And to my bad, I went on the wrong side. Then I was totally drenched in sweat. I found it really difficult to find the way to my location. I was an introvert person so I couldn't even ask any person around me to say where the hotel Savera exists. I started running here and there but had no clue where exact my place was. I tried in another way finding in maps about Hotel Savera but truly I could not understand anything. Finally I called my brother and he said that you say me the pillar number and I will come over there. At that time I felt relieved.
