Yes, good evening everyone. Here I would like to share you one of my best friend. She was my college friend and when we were in college at that time she was very shy girl and she is completely unable to speak in front of people. So at that time she felt very low but I encouraged her a lot and gave some suggestion that first she should practice her speech in front of mirror. So she worked on my suggestion and she started to do practice in front of mirror. After some month she become able to express or convey his ideas or expression in front of people without any shy. So this is the experience and this is my best friend whom I encouraged so and after that she thanked me and I answered in a welcome manner.

Follow up questions

How did your friend feel about her progress after practicing?
After practicing in front of the mirror, my friend felt much more confident. She was amazed at how her ability to express herself improved, and she started to enjoy speaking in front of others. This newfound confidence helped her in both her personal and academic life.

What other methods could help someone overcome shyness?
In addition to practicing in front of a mirror, joining a public speaking club or participating in group discussions can be beneficial. Encouraging someone to engage in social activities or even taking drama classes can also help them build confidence and reduce shyness.

Why do you think encouragement is important in overcoming challenges?
Encouragement plays a crucial role in overcoming challenges because it boosts confidence and motivation. When someone feels supported, they are more likely to take risks and step out of their comfort zone, which is essential for personal growth and development.

A time when I encouraged someone to do something that he or she didn't want to do was, felt like I was slightly manipulative or persuasive in a more positive backdrop. This instance was with Meenakshi, a friend that I know through the Young Entrepreneurs Search community, where young entrepreneurs between the age of 18 and 28 meet, connect and launch careers in entrepreneurship together. So I spoke to her in order to persuade her to enrol as a student at Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai, my university. I did this by having several long conversations over the telephone and in reality, giving her an in-depth idea into what a day-to-day life in VIT looks like, what she can expect and what are the advantages of this university, such as their excellent placement opportunities, vibrant college life, events, festivals and the diversity in the college are all major advantages that I talked to her about. However, I was also honest and sincere, told her about some of the difficulties that I have faced, since every coin has two sides.

Follow up questions

What motivated you to encourage Meenakshi to enroll in VIT?
I believed that VIT would provide her with excellent opportunities for personal and professional growth. I wanted her to experience the vibrant college life and the diverse environment that I found beneficial during my time there.

How did Meenakshi initially react to your encouragement?
At first, Meenakshi was hesitant and unsure about leaving her comfort zone. She had concerns about the transition and whether she would fit in, but after our discussions, she started to see the potential benefits.

What challenges did you face while persuading her?
One challenge was addressing her fears and doubts. I had to be patient and provide her with honest insights about both the positives and negatives of attending VIT, ensuring she felt supported in her decision-making process.

Now she had studied design and she wanted to pursue marketing but she was really struggling to get a job and then this opportunity came along which was slightly related to marketing but more into the event space and the back end work. I encouraged her to take the job and she was a bit hesitant because she was not sure she would fully like it or be good at it and it was her first job so she was very conflicted about it but I encouraged her one because sitting at home ideal was becoming very frustrating for her. At least this way she would be able to get her hands dirty and second, no matter what job you do, I believe you always manage to learn something from it, correct? It could be something which might not directly be related to marketing but somehow working in different kind of teams or organizing certain artwork for the events etc. is very close to marketing. It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

And further, she also attended the competition and has given me a call during a competition as she thought many other students or her competitors who came to perform there were better than her, and she couldn't meet the standards of that competition. She wants my suggestion but she is just confusing for that part what she can really do. So I just asked a few questions regarding her future or dreams. After that I suggested her to join a new company because they are providing her a really good amount of salary package. I suggested her to join a new company rather just wasting her time because she has a really big dream regarding the future and she has another responsibility like her parents. So that's a major reason I suggested her to join a new company so that she can easily run their family and provide a good bread and butter to their family members. I suggested her because she is one of my colleagues or a student.
