One time, I received an unexpected call while I was sitting in a cafe, enjoying a quiet afternoon with a book. It was a few months ago, and the call was from an unknown number. Initially, I was a bit hesitant to answer, but I decided to pick up, curious about who it might be. The person on the other end introduced themselves as a representative from a charity organization I had previously donated to. They explained that they were following up to thank me for my contribution and asked me if I would be willing to support another upcoming initiative. I responded politely, expressing my gratitude for the call and letting them know I appreciated the work their organization was doing. However, I kindly informed them that I wasn't able to make another donation at that time. I made sure to keep the conversation courteous, listening to the pitch, and then explaining my position clearly, but respectfully. Although it was a somewhat awkward situation being in a public space, I tried to stay composed and not let the noise around me distract me. The call ended on a positive note, with the representative thanking me again for my previous support. Overall, it was a simple but polite interaction, and I was glad I handled it with respect despite being caught off guard.

Follow up questions

How do you usually feel about receiving calls from unknown numbers?
I generally feel a mix of curiosity and caution. While I am interested to know who it might be, I also worry about potential scams or unwanted sales calls. It often depends on the context and my mood at the time.

Have you ever had a negative experience with an unknown caller?
Yes, I once received a call from someone trying to sell me a service I had no interest in. They were quite pushy, which made me uncomfortable. I ended up hanging up, and since then, I've been more cautious about answering unknown numbers.

What do you think is the best way to handle unsolicited calls?
I believe the best approach is to remain polite but firm. If I'm not interested, I kindly let them know and end the call. It's important to set boundaries while still being respectful, as many callers are just doing their job.

Back in the summer vacations, me and my friends used to go for cycling every day. It was our daily routine. So one day, me and my friend Rakesh decided to go on an early walk instead of cycling. We were very excited for the same. When I was standing outside Rakesh's house waiting for him, I received a call from an unknown number. At first, I thought that someone must have dialed it by mistake. So I ignored the call and I usually don't pick up the unknown calls. But that person dialed me 2-3 times again. I thought that someone is in emergency and I picked up the call. There was this girl who was trying to scam me by selling me some policies which were obviously some malicious content that she wanted to download on my phone. She was trying to pretend that she knew me, but I was confident that she wasn't a genuine person. So I tried to trick her into more questions and delayed the time until I called the police and reported her number. The police immediately took the action and identified the miscreant. I think there are many instances in which I was in a public place and I received a call from an unknown number. One day when I was on a date, I received a call from an unknown number who was pretending to be my friend and tried to prank me. But I was aware enough of the fact and I declined the call.

Follow up questions

When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

Answer

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

Recently I was on the bus from my house to my grandmother's house and I got a phone call from an unknown number. It was a crowded bus so I was apprehensive to receive it. So the first time I got the call I didn't pick up but then the same number called again. So I answered and said hello and they said hello, I wish to speak to you, is this the right time? I said yes, may I know who is talking? And he said yes, Mr. Who? And I asked who? As I didn't get his name and funnily enough his name was Mr. Who. So he repeated, he said I am Mr. Who. And I said who? He said yes. And I asked again who? And he said is this the right time to talk? And I said who do you want to talk to? And he said myself, I am Who. And I was left very confused and I did not understand and people around me were actually giving me very funny looks. So I decided to call him back later.

I remember this funny incident which happened in the year 2015 when I visited the city of Chandigarh along with my college friends. The occasion was to attend seminar related to our college project there. At the time I was new to this digital world because I didn't have any mobile up until then so it was my new mobile and suddenly in the hall full of people it rang and I was shocked and moreover things when happen out of the blue one really feels scared and especially at that point of time when we were really serious about that seminar which was going on there. Somehow I managed to get out of the hall because it was really very difficult to get through the place because a lot of people were sitting there. I somehow waded through the population there, crowd there and I reached down the hall by stepping down the stairs and I attended the call and guess what the call was related to my selection in the private company. Okay, so there is, I do not recollect of an instance where I answered a phone call from a random person, but I do remember getting into a cross connection with someone. So one day when I was at a grocery store, I called my mother to check upon what things she wanted. So when I dialed her, the call got cross connected to a stranger. I don't remember his name, but he was definitely a grumpy guy because he thought that I called him and he was, he just started lashing out on me and I freaked out thinking that my mother's phone was stolen. So at that time, I felt a lot of emotions going through. I was so scared, I didn't know what to do, I couldn't call my mother because I thought her phone was lost or probably was stolen, but I remember feeling helpless that time. But later on, when the guy calmed down, he told me what exactly had happened and that I had called him on his number and there was some cross connection error. I immediately cut the call. I apologized to him, firstly I apologized to him and then I instantly cut the call and redialed my mother and got to know that she is safe and I was really happy that she was safe and I felt content that the phone was not stolen because it was a very costly phone.

I answered the call and I did not know about the person. He asked me my RTP number. I am very scared for my RTP number. It is a very difficult situation to handle it. I handled it very bravely and I asked him who are you? He said he is a banker from a bank. He asked me to tell him my RTP number. I could not tell him my RTP number. It is a very private thing. It is important to all. I can handle it bravely. I am very worried about my account. I go to a bank and check my account.
