The environmentalist I admire is my elder brother who currently works in a corporate company although he tries to serve nature and help animals who reside in jungles to get better life. He always used to say or he always tells me that it is our responsibility to conserve our nature and respect it. He is fully dedicated towards conserving it and helps grow the flora and fauna around me. The place where I reside it is in a drought area. Although it is drought we are always aware of how to make it more residable or useful for animals. He tries to plant at least a tree or a bunch of tree every week. He helps the people who are suffering from the loss because of the drought. He always used to say it is our duty to serve the nature and helping ever and hurting never. He tries to arrange the stones in such a way that when rain when raining is going on the water should be stored and it is useful for the animals. He says the steps that we take today will help for our next generations. It is our responsibility to help mother nature by doing such activities because whatever we are getting today is because of it. Natural resources such as air, light or any other fuels that we receive by nature we are payable to it.

She was extremely passionate about sustainability and make a real effort to protect the environment through her work. What makes her stand out is a unique approach to the fashion. She reuses all recycled old clothes to create an entirely new outfit. So instead of buying new fabrics or reducing waste, she used to collect second-hand garments, unused textile or even damaged clothes and creatively transform them into a stylish piece. For example, she once turned an old pair of jeans and a faded cotton shirt into a trendy jacket and skirt set. Her designs are not only environmental friendly but also very fashionable which inspire people to look at recycled fashion into a new light. As a person, she's very thoughtful and highly driven and creative. She's genius. We care about the planet and always try to educate others on the importance of sustainable living. One inspiring individual who has made a significant contribution to protecting the environment is, I would say that Afroz Shah, an environmental activist and lawyer based in Mumbai. He is globally recognized for launching the world's largest beach clean-up drive at Sova Beach in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His journey began in 2015 when he noticed that the beach near his home was covered in plastic and other waste. Instead of ignoring the problem, he began collecting trash every weekend. Initially, he worked alone, but soon local residents, students and volunteers started joining him. Over the course of more than 80 weeks, they removed over 20 million kilograms of waste. His efforts to go beyond just cleaning, he actively promotes behavioral change, especially by educating slum dwellers on waste segregation, reducing plastic waste and recycling. His work is aligned with India's national initiatives like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Plastic Waste Management Rules. What truly sets him apart is his focus on community-led initiatives, which is a key aspect of environmental governance in India. His work embodies the spirit of Article 51A of the Indian Constitution, which calls upon every citizen to protect and improve the natural environment. He has also been awarded the UN Champion of Earth Award in the UN's highest environmental honour, which further reflects the global impact of his actions. Moreover, his campaign has led to the return of All You Rightly Turtles to Verzova Beach after decades, which is an ecologically successful story. This shows the grassroots-level initiatives can contribute to climate resilience.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

With the tremendous influence of modernization, it has also impacted the environment greatly. So it is our responsibility to protect our environment. The person I know who helps to protect the environment is my professor. Her name is Dr. Jessica. She is working very hard how to protect the environment as she is an environmentalist. Her main concern was about the plastic waste that is increasing nowadays. She is doing research on the basis how to conserve, how to degrade the plastic with the help of some naturally bio-agents like yeast which is obtained from the soil or from the fruit peel that how we can use that waste to commercialize in a commercial way to protect to degrade the plastic. She also motivates another students a lot by giving the small speech in the university campus or also she loves to attend various workshops in another universities worldwide in which she presents that how the environment is very important for us and we need to take some sustained measures to protect it. I am also helping her in the project in which we create some yeast cultures to degrade the plastic and it motivates me a lot. The world is only surviving at the current moment because of people like my mother, who actually work towards making it better and working to keep it healthy. To be honest, using things which are environment friendly or eco-friendly as a matter of fact is not exactly my cup of tea. But once I discussed this same scenario with my mother, she was the one who told me, showed me alternatives such as bamboo products and non-plastic products which could be used to make my life easier and yet be economical as well. I have witnessed her using several products and even techniques in her daily day-to-day life where she tries to minimize her carbon footprint either by reducing the use of papers and working on things digitally or by sending us a whatsapp list instead of a paper when we generally go to market along with a jute bag instead of a polythene bag which is given by the shopkeepers. Though these are very small and menial things which generally takes place, but my mother may ensures that me along with my sister always use and utilize things which are not just eco-friendly but are economically affordable as well.

Nowadays, the effects of climate change and degrading environment are becoming so alarming that everybody is rising to the occasion to take care of it. One person that I know of is Harish Chandra, a local activist from my hometown who has been committed to preserving his environment and bringing out a change on a communal level since over three decades, even before the debates on climate change started. He has taken numerous actions on the district level, such as planting trees, organizing drives for clean environment, preservation of water, and basic civic sense to honor our environment. He recently initiated a project of rebuilding the town's roads using recycled plastic. It was an impressive innovation and with appropriate use of technology, it could also lead to waste management and the town could enjoy better transportation routes. Something that I admire about him is the ease of language he uses to convey difficult messages and how he gathers the support of the community. He inspires a lot of people through his speeches, his podcasts, and the different drives that he participates in himself. I aspire to become like him.

Well, today I am going to tell you about my next-door neighbor, Mrs. Padma, who is a perfect example of an environmental-friendly person. Mrs. Padma has been my neighbor for at least 10 years now. She is in her 50s and is actually a retired university lecturer. As a neighbor, Mrs. Padma is really kind and helpful, and she never refuses to help me when I am in need, from lending me some cooking spices to taking care of us when our family members are absent. But what I find most impressive about her is how environmentally conscious she is, as she has been doing a lot of activities to help the environment. To be more specific, Mrs. Padma knows so much about the detrimental effects of plastic bags to our planet. She told me about how it would take these bags millions of years to completely biodegrade and how they can cause harm to sea animals. That's why ever since she moved here, I have never seen her use them once. Instead, every time she needs to get the groceries, she brings her own cloth bag, you know the type of bag that can bring home to wash and reuse the next day. Other than that, she's also participated in a lot of voluntary work to clean up the garbage or join hands in other campaigns involving raising awareness about global warming. The effort she put into protecting the environment is really inspiring and admirable. In fact, now I'm also replacing plastic bags with cloth bags as often as I can. I always think that good actions give us strength and inspire good actions.

I first met her during my bachelor's degree and over time I came to realise that she really believed in the protection of the environment and she was someone who actually took action for it. She was part of a variety of NGOs that used to work for the environment and during her weekends she used to go out of her way to practice in multiple protests like the one where they were deforesting an area just to build residential areas. She participates in a lot of tree plantation campaigns. Not only that, she participates in them herself. Every week she used to encourage us to come and participate and experience contributing and giving back to Mother Nature. This really inspired me to go out of my way and actually protect the environment which has given us so much and I decided to become a member of one of the NGOs that she was part of and whenever they have any new campaigns coming on where I can actually participate, I make sure I go there and interacting with Sonia has really changed my view of looking at the environment where not only am I just commenting on how bad the environment is being and how we should work towards it, but I'm actually taking some action to work.

According to me, the person is a Bollywood actor who is none other than Sonu Sood. I personally got attached to him during the COVID. He was helping many of the people who were in need. Nowadays, he is protecting the environment by participating in many cleaning events. Recently, the Punjab state was hit with a flood. So, he helped many of the people over there. He adapted many of the villages over there. He rebuilt the environment, rebuilt the trees over there, rebuilt the houses of the people. Due to all these things, I got attracted towards his work. I got inspired by his work to protect the environment. Thank you.

    Band 7

Well, when I think of a person who helps to protect the environment, I don't recall a traditional environmentalist, but an actor who surpassed all of his contemporaries of bygone generation, his generation and the generations to come as well. I think of Marlon Brando, the greatest actor that ever lived. He was the ultimate soul of Godfather. And to the core, he was an environmentalist. He fought for the right of indigenous people. And while doing so, he even declined to accept one of the most prestigious awards of the entire world in theater as well as cinema. He declined Oscars just for the reason that the people were not sensitive enough towards red Indians and culturally misrepresented them. He raised voice against rapid urbanization, modernization, and the way trees were cut down for the own selfish reasons of capitalists, as well as people who claimed that development is the only way forward and nature has to suffer for that. I liked him because he inspired generations of normal people as well as Hollywood actors who became and raised their voice as environmentalist.
