In Tamil Nadu, the public holiday that is celebrated so joyfully is Pongal. It is also known as the festival of harvest. It is very famous in villages where farmers will worship the sun, the cow and their land which gives them crops for their staple. During Pongal holiday, I will visit my village. For every Pongal, I will visit my native which is approximately 20 km from our home. Both of my grandparents stay there and it is a 4-5 days holiday. The whole week will be announced as a holiday by the government for schools and colleges. So I will get a chance to meet all my family members, especially my favourite cousins during the time. So every day of the Pongal, we will celebrate in a different pattern. First day, we will worship the sun, we will cook a grand meal and have a great feast. And the second day, we will decorate the cows in our house by painting their horns and putting a garland. In the evening time, my dad will take me and my cousins for a bullock cart ride. It will be so fun.

It's a very fun time and I personally love Diwali because it allows me to hang out with my old friends because everyone visits home that time. It gives me plenty of time to catch up with them and just to be able to find out what's been going on with everyone. Moreover, it allows me to devour on endless sweets guilt free. I can just put on some holiday weight and no one is going to judge me because everyone is in the same boat as I am. That is another reason that I love Diwali so much. I also have a very personal connection to it as I am sure every Indian does because this is the one festival that everyone spends with their family and everyone has a different memory attached to it. It just makes me very nostalgic to think about it but every year I make a different memory. It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

In my understanding one public holiday which seems more enjoyable to everybody is Holi. Holi is festival of colors and it is enjoyable, it is the festival of fun where people gather and play with colors, they put colors on each other and say Happy Holi. However, there are some drawbacks to this as well. One of the major drawback is that there are some colors which are not organic or in other words those colors are very synthetic which stays in your body, which stains your body and it is difficult to remove from clothes as well. The colors might can create an allergic reaction to a sensitive person's body but apart from this everybody seems to be excited for the festival Holi and of course there is music, the people dance also. The other drawback I feel like it would be the uses of water. However, I feel the water is used a lot in Holis and it is a complete wastage of water. However, it signifies the positivity in people's heart, the fun they have.

Band 6-7

The public holiday that most people enjoy is Diwali. So in India, Diwali is very popular and people like to celebrate it as it holds a very religious significance here in our country. In India, Diwali is basically the celebration of good over evil. People light up candles, start to, people light candles and enjoy their day by, people light candles and start to, people light candles, light up their homes and there are many people who like to celebrate Diwali by bursting crackers but bursting crackers is not recommended. Also the festival of Diwali also brings light and spirituality in people's home. Diwali is followed by many other, Diwali is also followed by many other festivals like Chhat Pooja which is very prevalent in Bihar. During Diwali, I with my family light up diyas, visit the nearest temple to have a good spiritual start for the day. Diwali is very special for me and my family. What I think is that Diwali not only brings a festival significance but Diwali is also about celebrating how it also brings communities together.

Band 6-7

In India, we celebrate the festival Diwali and it is the most enjoyed holiday period for all the people in India. It is usually celebrated in October or the month of November. During the Diwali, people worship the god Rama and it has a long history, religious history. We all share the sweets and the delicacies with the family members and the loved ones. And everyone enjoys this period as they come back to their native place, meet their family and their loved ones. And it is a kind of get together for all the people. So everyone enjoy this festival of lights and sweets.

Band 6-7

Firstly the public holiday which I admire a lot is Christmas because it comes in winter times where it will be cold and even more people will love Christmas and Christmas is one of the big festivals all over the world where it is celebrated and enjoyed by Christians all over the world and we would also love Christianity, Amen. I love Christmas because at that time we go to church and pray and we used to also feed the homeless, homeless and the poor around the church and around my apartments and more Christmas is like a universal festival where everybody would celebrate so that the streets will be so colourful and decorations are at their best and every church where you go you get the best crowd in it and yeah and however you get more of the public holidays in it and also you get another public holiday in the next few days which is New Year which is even more interesting and it's the start of a new year and moreover many people would come out and enjoy the new year by celebrating it.

Band 6-7

In my opinion, all holidays are much celebrated by people as holidays are time when we can sit home or do engage in some other activities, have fun with family, particularly Christmas is most celebrated holiday among all people because it is a season where we celebrate with colors, lights and joy. Apart from the religious aspect, it is a time when the weather is really cool and relaxing. We can see stars hanged everywhere with different types of decorations and most of the houses and buildings will be filled with charming lights and on the day of Christmas, people conduct carol programs and different events like dances, songs and so on. So, it's a time when people from different legions and communities gather together to share the joy and have immense fun with everyone. I am very much happy about Christmas. It gives me a sense of fulfillment and all the markets will be busy with people as they purchase clothes and other materials for this holiday. And for Christians, it's a time when Jesus Christ is born so it is special for them to go to church.

Band 6-7

So, the public holiday people enjoy a lot is Holi. I think Holi is a very cultural festival in our India mostly. People of different religions, maybe it may be Hindu, Muslim or Krishna Yadav, people get gathered together and enjoy with their native friends, families and all the others. They just gather, collect different types of colours in their hand and just throw and apply each other, expressing their joy and happiness through them. And even they conduct many Holi festivals, Holi events where people get enjoyed, have drowns in colour water and there are many more other things. I mostly prefer gathering with my friends, chilling together and playing Holi and we attend events because in events we get to have new friends and as it is a Holi, everyone likes to enjoy with each other. So, we will be connecting with each other, new people and having good fun time. At the end of every event, we will be having DJ songs and a musician will be playing and there are few more celebrities who just come to encourage us and have fun with us and they also motivate us to have fun and everything we do is just in one day where we just left our stressful life and play with each other very joyfully and wholeheartedly. This will also get more privately.
