When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

Answer

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

Okay, the habit that I used to follow is... When I was young, I have a friend whose name is Nandini. We were school friends actually. But we studied in a different school. Actually, she is my neighbor. I have a childhood friend. Her name is Nandini. We used to be neighbors when we were young. We used to go to different schools, but we were in the same grade. So, our parents always tried to compare my score with hers. She always got higher scores than me. Because she studied hard in the morning time. I always prefer to study at night time. Because I feel we have a longer period of time to study at night than in the morning. I am a very lazy person at that time. So, I can't wake up in the early morning time. If I do, I used to be very sleepy at the class. So, I skipped to study in the morning time. One day, I approached my friend. I asked her, how did you manage to get up early and be active in your school? She said, I used to sleep early to keep me awake in the morning. One day, I tried to follow that. I used to go to bed by 9 am so that I can wake up at 5 am. Unfortunately, I couldn't wake up at that time. So, I rushed up and asked her again. She said, try to do that. And I did.

I have a friend of mine named Sampath, who has this habit of checking his entire house and keeping it clean before leaving for a place. It might be for grocery shopping, but he follows this habit every time he moves out of his house. He feels this would help him to know his house is safe and sound and everything is at right place. I do want to inculcate this in me because I feel this helps you to cross-check whatever that is going on in your house and if your house is in perfect shape and even if you miss out something that would really help to be sorted before leaving your house. So this is something that would really help you in personal development and I do feel this would also help me to have a better responsibility towards my home. So this habit is very crucial for me, although it is true it's not always that you need this to be done whenever you are out of your home, but at times it's important so to practice every time you are away is a very good thing. And I have also asked him to help me how to practice this, I mean how to look out for the best things around me and to check before leaving to anywhere I go.

One of my close friend Rhea has a wonderful habit that I truly admire. She wakes up early in the morning and starts her day with a short workout and some reading. I have noticed that this habit makes her very energetic, positive and organized throughout the day. Rhea usually wakes up around 5.30am, goes for a jog and then spend about 20 minutes reading something new like a personal growth book or the news. Because of this routine, she is always calm, focused and rarely stressed even during exams or busy schedules. I really want to develop this habit because I often struggle with managing my time and staying productive. I tend to wake up late which makes me rush throughout the day. If I could start my morning like her, I believe I would be able to plan my day better and feel more motivated to complete all my tasks.

The one habit I would like to develop from my friend is the habit of reading novels, whether it be non-fiction or fiction. The reason behind this is that I want to be able to widen my scope of knowledge and learn to communicate better. The one thing about reading I like the most is that it helps one communicate properly with a proper line of thought. This is something I think I lack and I often see in my friend that reads a lot of books. He had recently done a 75-day challenge where he had to read a book for 30 minutes a day. I think I was inspired by this and recently read three books in less than three days. It was from a trilogy written by Jenny Han, The Summer I Turned Pretty, We Will Always Have Summer, and another book, all three which were written by her. This is also a TV series and that added to me wanting to read this book, to be honest. I think that my friend who also studies with me has inculcated this habit in me, but I wouldn't say I'm someone that is an avid reader or reads every day. I can only read when I feel like reading, but I cannot force myself to and I wish I could. So that's something I would genuinely want to do.

A habit that I've seen a very close friend of mine have and I want to learn it is the habit of waking up in the morning and meditating. My best friend Atharva has a habit of waking up in the morning and dedicating around 35 to 40 minutes of his day to sitting down and meditating. I've known Atharva for the past three years and we met through a mutual friend. Ever since I've met him, I've learned a lot of great things about him and that has made me want to become a better person out of which his habit of meditating and waking up early in the morning is something that I have been wanting to make a habit of my own for the longest time. I want to develop the habit of meditation because I struggle with concentration and I feel like meditating is really refreshing and it helps in focusing on a particular point which will in turn lead to better attention spans for me. I've heard numerous positive things about meditation such that it has regulated someone's breathing, it has made someone more physically active, it has made someone have the mental capacity or bandwidth to take on more work at their respective workplaces etc. which is why I think this habit really attracts me.

One of my close friends, Anton, has an amazing habit of waking up early every morning. No matter what time he goes to bed, he always wakes up around 5 am and starts his day with some light exercise and meditation. I really admire this habit because it helps him stay achieved and focused throughout the day. He usually finishes all his important works before others even start their morning routine. I've noticed that he always comes punctual and rarely feels stressed, which I think comes from this early raising habit. Honestly, I've tried several times to follow the same routine, but I often end up hitting the snooze button and waking up late. Still, I believe it's a habit worth developing because it can improve my productivity and give me more time for self-care and planning my day properly. I feel that if I manage to build this habit, I will become more organized and energetic like him. And yeah, I definitely am working on step-by-step if I follow this habit and it will really helpful for a long-term success as well as the future for my both professional and personal growth of success.

A very dear friend of mine from school is very good at organizing. He keeps his ideas intact. He plans his days accordingly. Whatever work or schedules he has in the day, he plans on it and he does his work. I on the other hand get confused about what work to start and I jumble upon other work. I keep overthinking the same idea and I don't implement it. I am very lethargic. So I think I have to learn from my friend how to be organized and how to plan on one work at a time so that I could be more punctual and good at how he has done his work.

I have a friend from my university. She loves to read and I love to develop that habit for myself because she reads both fictional and non-fictional books every day for at least half an hour. She has observed that it improved her knowledge in various fields very well when compared to a non-reader. She is aware of almost everything that is happening around the world. She is well versed in history, language, literature, science and technology even though she is an engineer herself. She has a very good pronunciation and writing skills which she developed after reading a lot of books for the past 5 or 6 years. She suggested me to read more to improve my language as well as my writing skills. Moreover, she encouraged me to read more factual passages to improve my way of thinking and changing my aspect in many of the subjects. It completely changed my idea about reading when compared to reading from a computer. Reading books helps us to improve our concentration in addition to our literary skills.

My best friend, Jane, used to be my roommate during my undergraduate studies. We lived together for almost four years. One positive habit that Jane has is that she regularly goes to the gym. Initially, she did not spend a lot of time in the gym. Later, she understood that due to her short height and slim body, she felt people took her for granted and no one took her words seriously. She believed that her physical appearance matters and people will give her space in their mind and in society only if she looked a certain way. While she started working out, I noticed that she tended to pick up more weights. She liked to work out using heavy weights and developing muscles. She has beautiful biceps and her back muscles stand out even in ethnic wear. I am really inspired by her physique right now and her commitment towards going to the gym. I also want to lose some weight and I think people make fun of me and don't take me seriously because of my weight. Jane has inspired me to go to the gym and be committed towards working out and being involved more in physical activity.

A habit of my friend that I would like to develop is sleeping early and waking up early. My friend Tasmin is a person that I aspire to be. The reason is because she goes to bed early and she gets up pretty early as well. She says that this habit has made her feel more relaxed, put together and expresses feeling more content and happy. It ensures her that all her tasks are completed on time. She has now started focusing on her health and her education more as she expresses having more time than she previously did. This healthy habit not only improved her academically and has benefited her nutritionally, additionally it has also incorporated a deep sense of peace in her which I feel is rare in the society that we live in now. She expresses that she has not been happier and the way she looks at herself has become much more positive. She affirms herself first thing in the morning which keeps her motivated throughout the day.
