When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

Answer

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

Okay, thank you for that question. When I think of a habit that my friend has that I really would love to develop is my closest friend Ananya who has the habit of waking up early in the morning and doing something before she touches her phone. So she spends about 40 to 50 minutes a day when she wakes up and does not touch her phone and she is in her focus zone where she prioritizes her tasks and sets out her goals and wants to be productive and if she doesn't have any particular task for the day, she does yoga or does some sort of a physical activity to get her blood pumping, to get her adrenaline running, get those endorphins and I think that is one of the most healthy habits one can develop because I know biologically, scientifically that it resets your clock. It makes sure that you don't get extremely stressed after you wake up and having that me time is absolutely essential for peace throughout the day. I have the habit of as soon as I wake up, I have FOMO, I have the fear of missing out. I touch my phone, I take my phone out and I'm scrolling, doom scrolling, scrolling socials immediately because I'm worried that I've missed something and what that does is it sends me into a negative feedback loop where I'm like, oh have I missed something, have I missed something and I wake up and I see something that has gone wrong in the world and my entire day is affected by that same mindset and this also leans into me not being able to separate my social life from my real life and unable to focus on myself and I know that there is this phrase where it's like health is wealth and you are supposed to prioritise your health but that becomes really difficult when you are somebody who grew up in the social media age and I think my friend has done a really good job separating herself from the constant feed and I would love to do that.

A habit that my friend has developed and I want to develop is time management. In today's time, time management is a quintessential habit to have. My friend does efficient time management to spend the limited time that everyone has in a proper manner. He indulges into a variety of activities like sports. In sports, he plays football and he usually plays football for an hour every day. In music, he participates in a band and he is the lead guitarist in it. He also goes to various parties but obviously he manages his time properly. He does not go to every party. He strategizes and selects on which party he wants to go. He manages his studies alongside all these extracurricular activities. He is constantly getting good grades and is focused. Another habit which he has is the art of saying no. He does not say yes to every activity, either it is going to play to the garden with his friends or talking to his friends on the phone calls. He says no at the time he is studying and does proper time management. This habit is something that even I want to incorporate in myself. It is extremely vital to do proper time management to become successful and to complete all my tasks efficiently and within the deadlines. Time management will not only help me to improve my grades but will also help me to do a variety of activities to improve my overall portfolio and my character. I can indulge into practicing various sports activities like learn new sports and skills like basketball, in musical instruments, playing the tabla and also doing activities which are easy to do at home like cooking.

One positive habit my friend has and that I genuinely want to develop is his incredible consistency in maintaining a daily routine. His name is Arjun and he is one of the best, most disciplined people I know. We have been close friends since school, so I have seen his habits evolve over the years. Arjun has a very structured lifestyle, no matter how busy or tired he is, he never skips the morning routine. He wakes up early, meditates for 10 minutes, exercises and then plans his entire day in a small notebook. What impresses me the most is that he never breaks this pattern. Even during exam or stressful days, he sticks to it and the same level of dedication. I want to develop his habit because consistency is something I struggle with. I start things with a lot of motivation, but eventually my energy fades and I lose track. Watching Arjun has made me realize that real progress doesn't come from occasionally big efforts, but from small actions done every single day, his routine has made him more focused, productive and calm and I really admire that. If I develop this habit, I believe it will help me manage my time better, stay mentally stable and achieve my long-term goals more efficiently. In the fast-paced world we live in, having the consistency routine is almost like a superpower and I hope I can build that discipline just like Arjun.

I'd like to talk about a habit of my close friend Prathamesh that I deeply admire and would love to incorporate into my own life. It's his incredible ability to be proactive early riser. While many people wake up early, Prathamesh does so with purpose and discipline and it truly shapes his day. He wakes up religiously at 5.30am every single day including weekends. Crucially, he doesn't just lie in bed, he immediately starts his day with activities dedicated purely to himself. He uses the first hour for two things, 30 minutes of silent meditation and journaling followed by a quick, vigorous workout. I find this habit so desirable because it gives a massive head start.

So, the one habit which I'd like to incorporate from a friend of mine is the habit of working hard, being disciplined and developing side hustles along with the main source of working along with his conventional career. It is a habit present in my best friend and it is something I really admire about him. The zeal he has to work hard and go above and beyond the conventional course. He makes it a point to research, take out time from his daily schedule even if it's a few minutes or a couple of hours. He makes sure to work upon his side hustle and I feel it is the need of the hour to develop any new money making habit or any additional source of income due to the increasing competition in addition to the benefit of the additional source of income it will provide to you because one really can't rely on just one source of income nowadays. There is a high recession going on all over the world and in addition to giving you the discipline and developing the hardworking skills which you have it is something which will help you utilize your time more efficiently.

I have a friend of mine named Sampath, who has this habit of checking his entire house and keeping it clean before leaving for a place. It might be for grocery shopping, but he follows this habit every time he moves out of his house. He feels this would help him to know his house is safe and sound and everything is at right place. I do want to inculcate this in me because I feel this helps you to cross-check whatever that is going on in your house and if your house is in perfect shape and even if you miss out something that would really help to be sorted before leaving your house. So this is something that would really help you in personal development and I do feel this would also help me to have a better responsibility towards my home. So this habit is very crucial for me, although it is true it's not always that you need this to be done whenever you are out of your home, but at times it's important so to practice every time you are away is a very good thing. And I have also asked him to help me how to practice this, I mean how to look out for the best things around me and to check before leaving to anywhere I go.

One of my close friend Rhea has a wonderful habit that I truly admire. She wakes up early in the morning and starts her day with a short workout and some reading. I have noticed that this habit makes her very energetic, positive and organized throughout the day. Rhea usually wakes up around 5.30am, goes for a jog and then spend about 20 minutes reading something new like a personal growth book or the news. Because of this routine, she is always calm, focused and rarely stressed even during exams or busy schedules. I really want to develop this habit because I often struggle with managing my time and staying productive. I tend to wake up late which makes me rush throughout the day. If I could start my morning like her, I believe I would be able to plan my day better and feel more motivated to complete all my tasks.

Band 7

The one habit I would like to develop from my friend is the habit of reading novels, whether it be non-fiction or fiction. The reason behind this is that I want to be able to widen my scope of knowledge and learn to communicate better. The one thing about reading I like the most is that it helps one communicate properly with a proper line of thought. This is something I think I lack and I often see in my friend that reads a lot of books. He had recently done a 75-day challenge where he had to read a book for 30 minutes a day. I think I was inspired by this and recently read three books in less than three days. It was from a trilogy written by Jenny Han, The Summer I Turned Pretty, We Will Always Have Summer, and another book, all three which were written by her. This is also a TV series and that added to me wanting to read this book, to be honest. I think that my friend who also studies with me has inculcated this habit in me, but I wouldn't say I'm someone that is an avid reader or reads every day. I can only read when I feel like reading, but I cannot force myself to and I wish I could. So that's something I would genuinely want to do.

Band 7

A habit that I've seen a very close friend of mine have and I want to learn it is the habit of waking up in the morning and meditating. My best friend Atharva has a habit of waking up in the morning and dedicating around 35 to 40 minutes of his day to sitting down and meditating. I've known Atharva for the past three years and we met through a mutual friend. Ever since I've met him, I've learned a lot of great things about him and that has made me want to become a better person out of which his habit of meditating and waking up early in the morning is something that I have been wanting to make a habit of my own for the longest time. I want to develop the habit of meditation because I struggle with concentration and I feel like meditating is really refreshing and it helps in focusing on a particular point which will in turn lead to better attention spans for me. I've heard numerous positive things about meditation such that it has regulated someone's breathing, it has made someone more physically active, it has made someone have the mental capacity or bandwidth to take on more work at their respective workplaces etc. which is why I think this habit really attracts me.

One of my close friends, Anton, has an amazing habit of waking up early every morning. No matter what time he goes to bed, he always wakes up around 5 am and starts his day with some light exercise and meditation. I really admire this habit because it helps him stay achieved and focused throughout the day. He usually finishes all his important works before others even start their morning routine. I've noticed that he always comes punctual and rarely feels stressed, which I think comes from this early raising habit. Honestly, I've tried several times to follow the same routine, but I often end up hitting the snooze button and waking up late. Still, I believe it's a habit worth developing because it can improve my productivity and give me more time for self-care and planning my day properly. I feel that if I manage to build this habit, I will become more organized and energetic like him. And yeah, I definitely am working on step-by-step if I follow this habit and it will really helpful for a long-term success as well as the future for my both professional and personal growth of success.
