When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

Answer

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

Today, I'd like to talk about a toy I absolutely adored in my childhood. A small remote controlled red car that my father gifted me when I was around 7 years old. I still remember the day I received it. It was my birthday. And my father surprised me with this bright shiny car that looked almost like a miniature Ferrari. It was so cute. At that age, I did not own many toys. So, this one immediately became extremely special to me. One of the reasons I loved this toy so much was its speed and sound. Whenever I took it outside, it made a soft humming noise that felt incredibly realistic. I used to race it against the neighborhood kids. And I still remember how proud I felt whenever my car won. Another reason for the toy meant so much to me was the emotional connect it carried. My father worked long hours and did not get much time with me. So, the fact that he chose his toy himself made it even more meaningful. To me, it was not just a car. It was a symbol of the little moments we shared. Finally, the toy sparked my imagination. I would build tiny roads, tunnels and parking lots out of books and pillows pretending I was designing an entire city. Looking back, I think this is what developed my creativity and problem-solving skills. Overall, this simple red car wasn't just a toy. It was a huge part of my childhood happiness. Even today, whenever I see remote-controlled cars, it brings back beautiful sense of nostalgia.

When I look down the memory lane of my childhood, about a decade ago, my most favourite toy I can recall is a Rewix Cube, not just any ordinary Rewix Cube, the Rewix Cube given to me by my grandfather on my 8th birthday. It was so much special for me, not just because it was a birthday present, but because it was the last birthday present I ever had from my grandfather before he died. It was nothing like a 3x3 Rewix Cube. It was a hexagonal Rewix Cube. Yeah, something strange to begin with. How is a person supposed to complete a hexagonal Rewix Cube? I remember spending hours and hours learning its pattern during my summer vacation. The first time I completed a Rewix Cube was when I took it to school. Yeah, I agree that I wasn't able to solve it on my own. Instead, I had to take help of my super genius Rewix Cube solver friend of that time.

I believe that toys play a very important role in the life of children. It helps them to improve their mental capabilities. In my childhood, I had so many toys and I was really obsessed with my toys. But here I would like to talk about a specific toy that was really close to my heart. And it was a remote control car that took approximately 6 batteries to work. I vividly remember that it was my 10th birthday when I received this toy as a gift. Actually, my maternal uncle returned from Canada and he gifted me such a wonderful toy. And after getting that toy, I was really, really glad and over the moon because since my childhood, I am obsessed with playing electronic gadgets, especially remote control cars. So when I received that, it feels like it gives me a feeling of a king. So I was really obsessed with my toys. So I played with it throughout the day and when I returned from my school, I started to play it. I just completed my work within a few minutes and started to play with my toy. Although I played with my siblings, I never gave this toy to anyone because whenever others touch it, I feel jealous. So that's why I didn't give them a chance to play with that toy. So a remote control was the toy that I really used or liked in my childhood. I still have this toy in my cupboard and whenever I have to recall my past memories, I just get it out and see it and try to play with it.

Thankfully, my childhood was filled with a lot of toys that I received from my loved ones and friends. However, if I had to talk about my favorite toy, it would be a gigantic teddy bear that I had gotten on my fourth birthday. It was white in color and it had brown eyes. It wore this overall that was grey in color. It was really really fluffy and made of the most softest material. I would play with it very often. I would play with it after I would come back from school. I would often also take it to play dates and invite my friends to play with it as well. I was so attached to it that I would carry it with me during my travels and make it sleep next to me no matter what the location was.

As a child, I really enjoyed playing with dolls. It was my way to connect with my friends and my cousins. So for my fifth birthday, one of my sisters gifted me a doll that was from one of our favorite Barbie movies. And this doll was beautiful. She had really long, curly brown hair. She wore red lipstick and wore a really long blue ball gown with purple accents. And the highlight of this doll, which makes it really memorable for me, is the pendant that she had around her neck. So this pendant had a Sapphire gem in the center. And when you clicked on it, she sang. And I can still sometimes remember the song that she sang. And I used to play with it for almost the entire year after I received it from my cousin.

A toy I remember that I loved the most in my childhood was a Barbie doll. We were shopping in a supermarket with my father and I suddenly saw the Barbie doll and I was very much interested in that toy. I stood by it for some time and I asked my father to buy it for me. At first my father thought it is unnecessary for me and then he realized how much I loved it and then he bought it for me. It was a doll wearing pink colored dress with glitters on it, very smooth hair and it was very beautiful and pretty. Actually I was very happy that day after getting that toy. I brought it home and played with it. I slept with it. I used to take it wherever I went along with me and that was one of the toys that I loved the most during my childhood. That was not only a gift from my father but also my mother used to buy me Barbie dolls for my birthdays. It was years before and I was very small back then. But now I remember how happy I was in that time when my parents gifted me toys like Barbie dolls.

One of my favorite toys from my childhood was actually a Spiderman plushie. So my mother got this from a very famous market in Mumbai. I used to cherish that plushie so much, I would take it everywhere I went. I used to go to bed with the plushie, hugging the plushie. It gave me immense comfort and it just was very special because I used to love Spiderman movies as a child and it used to make me feel like Spiderman, honestly. It made me feel like I have a Spiderman plushie because I am Spiderman and it gave me immense sense of responsibility as the quote in Spiderman goes, with great powers comes great responsibility. The plushie felt like a power that was given to me and I had the responsibility to be kind and take care of the plushie which was like a metaphor of me taking care of everything around me and I was a very responsible kid so I feel like the plushie played a very important role in that.

I had a beautiful doll in my childhood. My mama's friend gifted me the doll on my birthday. It has been with me since 25 years. It was dressed in a yellow gown with two beautiful braids and pretty eyelashes. Moreover, she was beautiful. She had a mic in her hand and used to sing songs for all the family. I used to place her on the cupboard so that nobody can touch it. Even though my friends wanted to play with it, but I did not allow anybody to play with my doll. Furthermore, I used to take her beside me while sleeping. I treated her. I treated it like my family. It wasn't a doll for me, but an emotion.

So I do have a toy named Appu, which I have had since my childhood. So Appu is grey in colour, he is like a palm size and he is very, very, very, very soft and he has a very cute trunk as well. So my mom and dad bought it for me when I was young and I have always carried him. There was a period, maybe around the age of 14 or 15, where I had forgotten all about my toys and I was cleaning my room and I came across him again and since then I keep him close to me, even now when I am 24 years old, I have Appu on my bed. There are other toys also that I really, really like and yet I seem to find something different about Appu. So yesterday itself I went out and I was trying to get myself a soft toy but I could not find anything as mine, something that I can feel is close to me or made for me, like I feel for Appu. So I think I will never forget him and he is always going to be my favourite toy. There are others as well that I truly find amazing but Appu is my favourite toy.

One toy that I was extremely fond of during my childhood was a soft brown teddy bear that my mother gifted me when I was around 5 years old. It wasn't just a toy for me, I felt more like little companion that I carried everywhere I went. The teddy bear was medium shaped with a floppy fur around black eyes and a little tiny ribbon tied around its neck. I even gave it a name, Cuckoo, because I thought it looked as sweet as chocolate. What made it more special was how comforting it felt whenever I was upset, scared. Hugging it instantly made me feel calm and secure. I still adore this because it became a part of my everyday routine. I used to sleep with it and even take it along during family trips. Looking back, I realized that the teddy bear helped me express my feelings and gave me a sense of emotional comfort which is quite important for children. Even today, I still remember how attached I was to it. Although I don't have it anymore, the memories connected to it are still very warm and nostalgic. It reminds me a time when life was simple and happiness came from somewhere.
