Tips to answer this Cue Card

1: Being Vague About the Toy

Tip

Describe the toy in detail, including its color, size, and what made it special to you.

2: Neglecting Personal Connection

Failing to explain who gave you the toy and why it was meaningful can lead to a lack of personal touch in your response. Personal stories resonate more.

Tip

Share a brief story about the person who gave you the toy and what it meant to your relationship.

Not Mentioning Frequency of Play

Overlooking how often you played with the toy can make your answer feel incomplete. This detail adds depth to your childhood experience.

When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

Answer

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

Since my childhood, I was not very fortunate to have a lot of toys around me but there was a toy that my father gave me. It was a small dog who used to bark when I used to click on the button that is behind him and the sound resonates completely and I loved it the way it showed affection towards me even if it was an object, to me it was much more than that and I often played with that dog and during the rainy days when my parents insisted me to stay indoors, the dog was my only companion to help me go through the hectic rainy evenings and afternoons where I would be still inside my home. I felt a lot more loved and a lot more engaged when I was around him I would say and yeah.

My most favorite toy would be a doll. I remember I had this doll when I was a little kid. It was almost the same size as me and it was gifted to me by my mom. After a lot of tantrum throwing and a lot of crying, she finally made that doll. I also remember how the doll had to be draped in a neon green colored cap with a neon green colored shirt. We were inseparable. I used to sleep with it, eat with it. Even when I traveled somewhere, I used to nag my mom to take the doll with me. It used to constantly be at my hip, attached to my hip. I remember as I grew older, I of course outgrew the doll as well and I think my mom gave it to one of my younger cousins. I was pretty furious. Although I stopped playing with the doll a long while back, I still could not be okay with my doll being given to someone else. I was really attached to it. That was my favorite toy.

This topic is really an interesting one because I got a chance to talk about my toy which I liked most when I was a child. Probably one of the toys was a kitchen set which was gifted by my aunt on my third birthday. It was a very good and happy day for me because it was a gathering of all the people around and we have invited our neighbours for the third birthday. In that age I was able to understand the things and I still remember who all came for my birthday party. It was a very happy part for me in my life and the most important gift was the kitchen set. Basically in my home the people used to cook and we used to celebrate our pressure with food. We belong to a Muslim family and in all the celebrations we used to prepare food. So in that scenario I have a lot of interest in the kitchen set because I can sit there on my own. Instead of going and begging with my mom for getting the roof or making chapatis or puris. These are all the things which I like the most so I used to get that habit of cooking by my own with my kitchen set. As I told you earlier it was a birthday gift from me to my aunt.
