Model Answer
In recent years, the concept of shared accommodation has become increasingly popular among young people. It is often argued that living with friends can offer just as many advantages as living with family. I strongly agree with this statement because both arrangements provide emotional support, personal growth, and practical benefits. Firstly, living with friends helps individuals develop independence and responsibility. When staying with family, parents usually take care of household chores and financial matters. However, living with friends requires sharing expenses, cooking, cleaning, and managing time effectively. For example, when I lived with my friends during my college years, we divided household tasks equally. This experience improved my time management skills and made me more responsible. Secondly, friends can provide strong emotional support similar to family members. Good friends understand each other's problems and offer advice during difficult times. In some cases, young adults feel more comfortable discussing personal issues with friends rather than family. For instance, during exam periods, my roommates motivated and encouraged me, which reduced my stress significantly. On the other hand, living with family has its own unique advantages. Family members offer unconditional love, financial stability, and guidance based on experience. Especially in times of crisis, family support can be more reliable and long-lasting. In conclusion, although living with family provides security and deep emotional bonds, living with friends also offers valuable benefits such as independence, shared responsibilities, and emotional companionship. Therefore, I believe that living with friends can be just as beneficial as living with family, depending on an individual’s circumstances and maturity level.
