When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

I would like to talk about my previous office colleague. He lost his job without thinking for a second. He started to continue his father's hotel chain business. When we got about this we were very, we were shocked to know because like how he is going to run this business but now he is successfully continuing that hotel business. He introduced a variety of cuisines like South Indian dishes, North Indian dishes. His part is like he is a chef, a chief chef in that hotel. He loves to enjoy that job because he don't need to depend on others. He is the boss for his company.

So, the person I know enjoy working with a family business would be my uncle. His family owned one single convenience store back then when he was a kid. He saw his parents struggling hard and when he grew up he took over the business and from then till now he has owned almost 20 convenience stores in a city. He's been owning the business and has been managing and handling everything by himself. And I just love the way he is able to work under pressure with so many people and the way he communicates makes me want to work for him. On top of that, he is an amazing person when it comes to managing people, when it comes to telling people what to do and how to do. He is a very good trainer, he trains all his staff by himself. The way he manages them is top-notch.

One of my childhood friend Ved whom I used to go to school with is now in his father's business. He has recently joined the business. After coming back from Canada and after completing his graduation over there, he came here recently and joined the venture. It's a generational business and they have been running since long. They are into the sales and manufacturing of lamps and other electrical items. He has done electrical engineering in Canada so he also has some background knowledge about that course. He enjoys working over there mainly because he gets to work with his dad and continue the generational legacy. He gets to learn a lot of practical things from his dad not only in terms of business but also in terms of life skills. He gets to stay with his parents in his hometown. The main thing that he cherishes about the job is different kinds of interaction he has to do throughout the day, handling the business, talking to the manager, explaining the laborers their duties and roles, supervising the whole procedure. So I feel he has a leadership quality in himself and because of that he is doing so well in his business and is satisfied as well.

    Band 6-7

The person I know who really enjoys working for a family business is my friend, Mohit. He used to work with me in the IT industry itself back in 2015 until 2016, but then eventually he resigned and started working for his family business. The family is usually known for growing fresh vegetables and selling them online via various e-commerce platforms available these days, such as Zomato, Blinkit, Swiggy and Stomart. The reason he enjoys the family business with baby kids, this way he gets to spend more time with his family. Recently he got married and last year he was blessed with a baby boy. The other thing would be, he is an owner, but he still likes to work in the field. He looks after all the vegetables by himself, takes care of them, from planting the seeds, watering them, or the chemicals that are required, spraying pesticides, helping out the workers. Mostly the work that is related to the field is carried out by him.

    Band 6-7

The person I know who will enjoy the most working for a family business is my elder sister. She will enjoy working for my parents a lot because my parents own a school from last 35 years. It was started by my grandfather and then managed by my father in the future generations. She is currently doing a job in Australia. She has done Masters of Secondary Teaching from the Laat Rovi University. She is thrilled to come back to India and join our family business which is running a school. I know why she will enjoy it and the reason is she loves being around kids. It is her passion to make every kid an outstanding child and help them out if any kid is facing any problem. I have always seen her helping kids with their studies, their sports and their extracurricular activities. She always used to participate in NGOs and workshops which used to help poor kids for free. When she will join our school business, I know she will always help kids with her full devotion and full contribution.

A person that immediately comes to mind when I think of family businesses is Mr. Venkat Annamalai. He is my father and the sole breadwinner of our family. He is into the family business of trading paper and packaging equipment, slowly diversifying into fields of warehousing, carbon credits trading and agriculture. Mr. Venkat Annamalai is a business owner and the third generation of the successive line inheriting the family business started by my great-great-grandfather. He enjoys working in a family-owned establishment due to the sense of duty and a homage to our ancestors. Despite pursuing a career in law and completing his undergraduate degree from the Madras Law College, he exempted that degree and opted to take over the family business despite his lack of passion towards it. This is solely to pay respect to our ancestors and taking over the family legacy and keeping it alive for future generations. He is an inspiration and his sense of loyalty and commitment is unparalleled. I hope to someday follow in his footsteps and do good for the world.

    Band 6-7

A mother of one of my friend is a fashion designer and she runs her own little boutique with designer clothes which are designed by her. So her daughter, who's my friend, has recently started helping her mother out at the store and she loves being there. She is also studying fashion herself and also want to pursue a career in fashion designing so, one, it helps her out a lot to be around designers such as her mom and the other designer working at the stores. So she could learn from her fellow colleagues and secondly, she is a very outgoing person and loves to meet new people and she has a very outgoing personality so she loves around being people and get to talk to them and the other reason that she might love doing what ever she is doing currently is because she loves styling other people and give them recommendations of what looks good on them and what does not. She has always helped all of us friends to pick out our outfits in a way that we could look good in those outfits.

    Band 6-7

One person I know who enjoys working for a family business is my father. He has recently set up a management consultant startup which he plans to further invest in and make it successful for his future generation which includes us and our future generation because he thinks that working as an employee in a company is like being a slave of a big company. So he thinks it's better to start your own business and be independent with your choices. There is nothing to worry about. I think he enjoys it because he was a field manager before he started this company and we couldn't see how exhausted he was during working those years. So now when he's relaxed and he could think and do whatever he want to do, it is something that makes him be peaceful, be less in a hurry, be calm.

    Band 6-7

Today I would like to talk about the person who is working as a businessman in my family. His name is Dijo and he is my brother. I am from an agriculturist family. Since my childhood, I saw my grandparents and parents working in the yard. Of course, it was our bread and butter. When my brother completed his 12th standard, he informed our parents that he wanted to become a businessman. Up to that time, we had to sell the vegetables and the farmed products to the other vendors and they would pay very less amount of money. Of course, we feel very lost when we sell any vegetables to them. At that time, my parents became so happy when they heard about his ambition and they helped him a lot to complete the BBA course. The BBA course helped him a lot to know about business management.

    Band 6-7

So a person whom I know who relish working for family business would be Sanjit. So I know Sanjit for since 2017 and it's been a better part of eight to nine years for our friendship and now we have become more brothers and I can say that he really loves working for family business and because he has done BBA in Congress and he wanted to go outside the country, study more and do some explore cultures and cuisines and also unlock vast opportunities for himself but he compromised and stayed at his home to support his family because his family used to have this big factory of breads but due to some family conflicts it had to shut down. So now he's planning to rebuild it and therefore he is continuously working for more than a year now and he is doing all of the paperwork in making interiors and making strategies to how to grow and rebuild his father's factory. So with this example I can say that Sanjit is very family guy and he loves to he would love to like build family business and continue family business for his family because this way he can he is more expressive and he has given a chance to prove his love to his family therefore he has taken this option as a expression of love to show towards his family.
