When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

There are some people that play a significant role in the way we think. Also, some people just happen to influence the choices that we make. One such personality that played a huge role in shaping my work was Dr. Saurabh who is an occupational therapy professor in my hospital. He persuaded me to take up orthopedics as my subject. This is because there are not many occupational therapists practicing in this field and the field of musculoskeletal sciences needs people who have a good understanding of the same. He saw a spark in me and he thought that I could be fit for this field because of the discussions that we were having during our OPG hours. I think that his efforts were fruitful because I happened to take up that field and I do practice in orthopedics. It is because of his efforts and it is because of his push that made me take that up. He constantly solves my doubts and queries that I have during my practice. I also enroll in courses that will enhance my knowledge. Most of the courses that I enroll in are referred to me by Dr. Saurabh. So, I think that he has played quite an influence in shaping my life.

I would like to talk about my mother who once persuaded me to pursue dentistry as a career. This happened a few years ago when I was deciding what to study after finishing school. She persuaded me to take admission in a bachelor's degree in dentistry. She believed that dentistry is a stable and respectful profession. So she also felt that it suited my personality because I am patient, disciplined, and interested in health. She explained that long-term benefits such as job security and the opportunity to help people. In the end, I agreed with her advice and decided to pursue dentistry. Looking back, I think it was a good decision because it gave me a strong foundation in the medical field and helped me understand patient care better. Although my long-term goal is to become a doctor, I am grateful that she pursued me because dentistry shaped my professional journey. I am satisfied with my decision because it helped me grow academically and professionally.

Well, I have plethora of family members and friends in my life, but one of the member, one of the person whom I want to talk about is my English teacher from my senior secondary school who played a crucial role in shaping my confidence as a learner. In terms of appearance, she was always well-dressed and carried herself with quite confidence. However, she is very humble and generous. She had a remarkable talent for simplifying complex ideas and making them engaging. She easily connects with her children. What I admired most was her emotional intelligence. She was firm when necessary yet incredibly approachable, which created a safe learning environment. She always encouraged me to speak in English when I hesitate. She is very hardworking and dedicated to her profession. Overall, she is an inspiring individual who has shaped my academic journey in a positive way. Because of her motivation and dedication, I just became more confident in my studies.

My friend named Nancy who has been an important part of my life for the past eight years. We first met during our college days while working on a group project and over the time our professional interactions turned into a strong personal bond. There was a time when I was struggling to choose my further careers and then she helped me a lot to overcome my fears and do well in my upcoming life as I truly admire her because of her hard work, how she balances her life and how she motivates me to to run towards my passionate work as I was feeling very low that time and that it is very difficult to make that decision and she stands out. She stands out with me. She manages to calm myself down and she helped me to focus on one single thing and then she has played a significant role in boosting my confidence and encouraging me to pursue my goals seriously.

I would like to talk about a person. He is my best friend who helped me choose fitness and strength training to make it a part of my everyday routine. So it was when I was in my first year of graduate school. We were taking the same substitutional class during the evening and we had this small chat saying how we want ourselves to look in the future and on my bucket list there was strength training. And the first thing he questioned me was that why didn't I take initiative to practice strength training and that one sentence kicked me right on the spot and I had took up this challenge to prove myself that I'm good at practicing and proving myself I'm capable. So from then on I started preparing for fitness activity and strength training. Furthermore I have taken special training and coaching from a coach who is specified to help children work properly.

It would be my father who persuaded me for a lot of things, especially in my learnings. In order to have a better education and knowledge, he used to persuade me for passing the entrance exam for post-graduation in order to join Indian Institute of Technology in Chennai, which is a most prominent institute in the country, India. It's only because of his push and motivation, I've won the competition and almost more than 200 in the exam. During the coaching, he used to stay always on my side and provided me with any materials. Also, he supported me mentally. It was a difficult exam and I haven't tried anything before in my entire life.

This happened when I moved to college about four years back. I had rented out an apartment with my friend and I was independent for the first time in my life. So prior to that, I had a cook at home, I had a maid at home. So everything was served on a silver platter to me. So for the first time, I was independent and by myself with my friend, of course. And the most important skill which was lacking was cooking. So my friend knew how to cook properly. So for the first initial days, she was cooking for the both of us. But at some point, she persuaded me to learn cooking. Initially, I was really against it because I am really bad at cooking or really bad at even choosing ingredients. If you would give me a dish, I would probably not tell what is in the dish or how it was prepared. So I was really skeptical about it in the beginning, but it became a necessity for us. So I started to cook simple recipes in the beginning and worked my way up the ladder to more difficult ones. So the first dish I ever made in that house was a disaster. It was this Indian dish called Rasam. It is basically a combination of spices and tomato and it's a very watery dish. But my dish tasted saltless. So that was a disaster. But later, my friend also really encouraged me and motivated me and I worked up to harder recipes. And now I can make a full meal all by myself. All thanks to my friend.

What I pursued was crocheting. My mother was into crocheting in 2019, that was around COVID time. I remember she bought a bunch of yarn and needles and crochet hooks and furthermore she practiced a little bit of crocheting through YouTube. Now COVID hit, everything was shut, I did not know what to do, a lot of free time and I wanted to pick up something new. I happened to notice the bundle of yarn and crochet hook and just asked my mother if I could go ahead and use it. She insisted I definitely do. She wanted me to pursue crocheting as a habit because it was really stress relieving for her and thought it would help me a lot too and it's a skill so who doesn't, it's an add-on. Why did she do that again? Because an add-on to a skill, very distracting, stress buster, even passes time and you can actually end up making something that you really want. And of course I did it. I did it with a lot of joy and I found so much joy in creating what I've I wanted. It's a very fluid art, you can almost do anything and everything you want with crochet. I made a hat, I made some dresses, I crocheted keychains and a lot more things. I love it.

We meet like a variety of people in our life and some of them come with good intentions whereas some come with bad. There are few people who come to persuade you for some good things, to motivate you, to inspire you so you can do better. But there are some who persuade you into some really horrible things. There was an incident during my college time. It was my first year, I was a fresher and there was a community in my college. It was training and placement cells who gather people, gather students who can participate into various activities and confront and talk fluently to get more and more companies for our college or even into various drives, placement drives or the college programs. So there was one of my senior who was very friendly and who was very nice and his intentions were really good when he came and he was trying to persuade me to take a part in it. The only intention behind it was for him to make me stand out, to have a good thing on my resume and to just brighten my skills up. So he persuaded me to just join this community by just coming to this one meeting. It will have a great impact on your future. It will improve your communication skills, the way I handle things, leadership qualities, communications and everything. And I did got persuaded. So once I was, I really thanked myself that I did got persuaded. It improved me a lot and it developed a skill set in me that I use even today in my day to day life, in my job, in my personal life.
