About Sacred Heart University

Sacred Heart University, with its rich history, continues to prioritise the needs of its students. Founded in 1963 to cater to the educational aspirations of college students in the Bridgeport area, it remains committed to this mission.

 

Notably, Sacred Heart University is the 1st University in the USA to be led and staffed by laypeople, marking a significant milestone in the field of education.

 

With a total of 11,179 students, including both full-time and part-time undergraduates as well as graduate students, SHU boasts a diverse and inclusive community.
