  • The University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA, was established in 1969. It is a public research university. It developed from an academic extension center in 1936 and became a four-year campus in 1966 and a fully autonomous university in 1969. The University of Alabama is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. 
  • It offers bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and professional degrees. The university offers 140 programs of study under 12 academic divisions. 
  • UAB has nine schools and two colleges: the School of Engineering, School of Business, School of Medicine, School of Education, School of Dentistry, School of Nursing, School of Health Professions, School of Optometry, and School of Public Health. The two colleges, the College of Arts and Sciences, were set up in 2010, and the Honors College was set up in 2012. 
  • UAB has eight libraries spread across the campus. The highest-ranked program at the university is the Master of Science in Health Administration. The large 150,000-square-foot recreation center includes basketball and volleyball courts, aerobics studios, a cardio-fitness area, game rooms, an indoor track, a climbing wall, and many others. The partnership between UAB and the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation set up a UAB Health System (UABHS), a private not-for-profit made up of the School of Medicine faculty.
  • The college provides accommodation to students and has six residence halls. The average residential cost would be 7,612 USD, and meals would cost 1,660 USD per semester. In addition, there are over 130 organizations that offer scholarships and financial aid to students.
