When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

I come from a state called Tamil Nadu in which the primary language spoken is Tamil. The first time which language I spoke in foreign language was in my school days. During my first standard it is that time where we started speaking the language of English which is the primary language for most of the schools present in Tamil Nadu. I spoke it during my first standard and it felt very amazing because it was the first time where I spoke a language which was in my mother tongue Tamil. It really felt great because I thought that I had achieved something. At that time I didn't know that it wasn't a very big deal to know other language but also we had many students who were competing in the language but I think it was a surreal experience for me as well to speak in front of my class. We just talked about general things such as our name, our intro, where we are from. Even though it was a small amount it felt really great to speak in English.

A very good morning. The first time when I spoke in a foreign language was when, was in French during my French class in my university. I had French as a subject in my under-graduation. While attending the class, I was asked by my teacher to speak upon myself for a minute in French. At first, I was a bit hesitant and nervous to speak in French as my knowledge in French was vague, but I was encouraged by my classmates to speak, which boosted my confidence. However, I couldn't speak for a whole minute, but I managed to speak in French for at least 30 seconds.

The time when I first talked in a foreign language is in March of this year. I went to get my German language certification at Goethe-Institut but before attending the exam I have taken some coaching classes for my German language but since it's a recorded session there is no scope for us to speak that language so I speak to myself or I used AI chatbots to practice speaking and when I went to the examination it has it also has four types reading, writing, listening and speaking so I during the speaking session I spoke the language for the first time to an actual person. I am with four of my other colleagues who came to write the exam. We need to ask each other questions in the German language and it felt really overwhelming for the first time.

The first time I was engaged in a conversation involving a foreign language was in April 2024 during one of our annual celebrations in our locality. A person who happened to be a neighbor of one of my friends had come down all the way from Italy and was an Italian by nationality to visit and explore our traditional celebrations. I got the chance to interact with him by coming down to his house and I was greeted with a merry smile. Since I had gained a bit of a grip of the Italian language by courtesy of my classes in school, I was able to engage in a meaningful conversation about exchanging cultural values about our integrating religious and traditional beliefs and how both of our countries, even though geographically distant by a huge margin, have shared values, opinions, and choices and a part of history which we call our own. We also talked about random topics of the current situations in the world going on at that moment and food habits of both Italian and Indian sorts and cuisines which we both like. The person who went by the name of Mr. Henry expressed his great desire to try out Bengali cuisines and also gifted me a packet of authentic French pasta for me to try out later on. I thanked him and I look forward to his experience as being a great learning move and I look forward to such experiences in the future. Thank you.

Back when I was in 12th standard, we had a school trip to Goa. That was the first time I was going outside Kerala. And I was with my friends and we were in a market trying to bargain with the shopkeepers. I really liked the dress and I was trying to bargain with the shopkeeper. And that was in Hindi. My Hindi was really pathetic, although I have learnt some Hindi in school. While speaking, I was really, really bad. So I spoke to her in the little bit Hindi that I know. And she was replying back to me in a mix of Hindi and Konkani languages. Both of which I was not an expert. So somehow she agreed to the price that I have asked and I got the product. After that, when I examined the dress, I found out that there were some tears here and there. And she actually kind of fooled me by giving me a damaged item. I went back to her to return the product, but she wouldn't let it go. She said something like Boney, which meant in their language that I was the first customer. And if I return the product, their sale for the whole day will be affected. So she didn't take my return request and I had to come back with that product. That was the first time I was speaking in a different language, which I didn't even know and I was influenced. Thank you.
