When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

I know one such interesting person who has had an interesting life and she is Shama Bhate, lovingly called Shama Tai. She lives in Pune and she is a Kathak dancer and teacher. She is now 75 years old and she has been dancing since she was 4 years. She has learned under a lot of gurus. She has been dancing since she was 4 years old. She has been dancing since she was 4 years old. She has learned under a lot of gurus and those names include some of the biggest known names in the Indian classical dance scene like Birju Maharaj. And the fascinating thing about is, though she is 75, she still dances so gracefully. All her movements, all her body postures are so flexible and so mesmerizing that you cannot believe that she is 75 years old. Few years ago, I started learning under her. Our class is on the second floor of a small building in the town of Pune. And she just runs all the steps like she is still young. And her energy never seems to go down. And she affectionately still teaches all the students. She still does all the hard work that is required to serve the art form. And that makes me realize that the importance of hard work in your life, the importance of giving everything to something that you really believe in. And that's why I continued dancing. If it was not for her, I would just have taken the class for few months. But because of her, I have continued now for 4 years. And I strive to do better and better every day. So I really look up to her.

The Prime Minister of our country, Honorable Shri Narendra Modi, is an old person I know very well and he has had a very interesting life. He is from Gujarat and he has done many great things for our country. He developed the goods and services tax and he created a module so that the country progresses from the tax that it collects from the different people. He also made the rule of triple talaq so that the women of our country get justice in cases of divorce and marriage. He joined the RSS when he was at a very young age and however he was very curious about his country and he started by selling tea on railway stations and he became the Prime Minister of the country. Currently his story is very exhilarating and thrilling to know about. Yet now that he is old, he is quite respected for his decision about demonetization to prevent the country's currency from being used for wrong purposes, for example corruption and black money hoarding. He also worked against terrorism and he has organized several surgical strikes against Pakistan including Operation Sindoor which was launched very recently. He has had a very great impact.

If I were to describe an old person who has had an interesting life, I would without any doubt suggest my grandfather Sukumaran Nair for this question. He currently lives his retired life in Trishul, southern part of India. He has had a most interesting life so far from what I have heard about other people's life and people whom I personally know about since around the time colonialization first started in India, Malaysia too was under the British control. And at the young age of 16, while most would be doing their schoolings, he was shipped off to Malaysia to fend for himself. When he reached Malaysia, he was given studies, a college education and later followed an office job and a field job, managing both of them along similar lines of work in the agricultural department. And he made a life out of himself. He had multiple cultural shocks, language shocks, since it was majorly Chinese and Malay people over there. And I absolutely love listening to his stories and his wisdom, which comes of course with

    Band 6-7

So, an old person that had an interesting life. I would like to describe about my grandmother. She is my father's mother. She lives with my father's brother at the moment. To me, she is like a superhero. Something impressive that she did was raising 5 children on her own. As my grandfather passed away at a young age, my grandmother raised 5 children by working on her own and doing her job perfectly as a single mother. Yet, after raising their own children, she continued her work by raising her grandchildren and yet perfectly. She always taught me that life is very optional. You can choose to live happily or you can choose to go down the road of the surface. But, you will always have the choice. So, choose wisely with whatever is coming your way and then you can live a good life. So, that really left an impact on me. Hence, my grandmother had a very interesting life in that sense.

    Band 6-7

So the oldest person I know and am close to is my grandmother. I don't know how many people will find her story interesting, but for me, it's very special. So the person I am talking about is my mother's mother, that is my maternal grandmother. She lived in a very small village in Kerala, Trishul. And her life was like a very normal life, just like any other girls will have. While she was studying in her 10th standard, my grandfather married her, they got married, they moved to Singapore. She never knew English, but my grandfather was an English lecturer. And they had a college in Singapore. I don't know how she managed, but she did it so well. They had four kids, youngest as my mother, and they came back. But my grandfather died when my grandmother was maybe around 45. And after that, she was so alone. And she is the one who took care of us, everyone, like my granddaughters, grandsons, my grandkids actually.

    Band 6-7

I'd say this person is my grandmother and I've known her for my whole life and she's my mom's mom. She lives nearby around a kilometer away or something and I'm very grateful for that fact because she's always there and then whenever I need to meet her I can just go by. I think there's been a lot of things in her life that has happened which has inspired me. She's the main reason why I'm always striving to study harder because she was not provided enough education during her time and then she always looks forward to telling me that I need to study and stand on my own legs to be independent and thriving. I feel like she is very important and she's very motivating. I really like her and I feel like without her I'd be very different and probably that would be a bad thing too but because of her I feel like I'm good today just because of her.

    Band 6-7

so I am a therapist physiotherapist basically I and I have seen I have been seeing this old lady who comes to me she is a retired teacher now but when she was I mean when she was younger she stayed at a very posh area in Baikala and after her husband passed away she shifted here to Santa Cruz I wouldn't say she downgraded herself but then I think you have to just move on after life gives you a big shock anyways after after the talk we had the last time I remember she was very excited about the house she bought in Santa Cruz itself and she is just so excited about it I could say excited because the way she was animatedly talking about the house was just too exceptional I mean you're just so happy with her purchase and she has been I think this would be her first purchase after her husband passed away but she is just so happy about her purchase and so and what happened is she bought this studio apartment she told me and properties in Santa Cruz are just too expensive you should say but she is really very pleasant about it and I wish to have a life like that when I grow old or after I retire obviously I would prefer having my husband around but still I really envy her but I am really very very happy with whatever she's achieved in her life and I would say

    Band 6-7

I am currently surrounded with a lot of geriatric population. Unfortunately, currently, I don't live with my parents. I don't live with my grandparents. But there are people whom I find very interesting. One person I find interesting is my mother's elder brother. He is an inspiration to me because he motivates me and tries to help me in every situation out there. What I like about him is he is very punctual. He is very passionate about his work. As well as he is always one who tries to inculcate good values in you. At the same time, he is into business of steel, metal as well as aluminium. He runs his business on his own. But in the start, he went through ups and downs and faced many obstacles. But after trying many attempts, he was in financial crisis as well.

    Band 6-7

The old person which I know is my granny, in the sense, my grandmother. She lives in my hometown, Adilabad, which is located in India, and more precisely we can say it's in India, Telangana State. The reason which I most like about my grandmother is, she is the most successful business woman among all my family members, because from the very young age she started doing the business of supermarket. She has initially started with a single shop, eventually with her persistence, with her knowledge and with her ability to take decisions, which are very strong and very visionary, she started with a shop and she expanded a single shop into four different supermarket chains. By this we can say how successful my grandmother is. So, the quality which I like in my grandmother is her persistence towards her work, she never compromises in the work she does, and even though she is a successful business woman, she always has time for her children. Even due to her hectic schedules, she used to take care of her children, basically she has three children, a boy and two girls. Even though, irrespective of the circumstances, she always stood strong, she always fought back, and she always delivered the best for her children. She has done that to her grandchildren also, which means to myself. To me, she has done and she has contributed to me immensely in my life. I like my grandmother very much.
