When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

Great question. Well, for past three weeks I was preparing for an exam and I was inside my room for very long. I decided to take a break and went to my friend's apartment. It was around 11pm at night and we were talking about stuff and updated each other about what's happening in our life. And there was a moment of silence and we observed crescent of the moon and stars blinking. It was a clear night. It was after let's say one year when I observed stars. I was definitely able to identify constellations like Orion. I have a knack for stars because of my interests in cosmos. I used to watch documentary when I was a kid. So, it reminded me about how this universe is very big and in this whole cosmic play, we are nothing but an actor in this huge stage. At the same time, it made me feel small. I felt like a speck of dust in this blink of the universe, the time I spent here. At the same time, it gave me a hint of what things a human can achieve, the dreams that it imparts on us. And it also gave me a connection with all the animals and all the species, all the life around me. Because at the end of the day, we are created from this stardust.

A time when I spent gazing at the stars was about a few months back when I had gone to visit my hometown near Varanasi. I was visiting for my brother's wedding which happened in the month of May 2024. I had gone up to the terrace of my village home and I was lying down on the terrace with my friends and with my brothers. It was a clear June sky. The stars were easily visible because it was a clear sky. The experience was breathtaking. I had never seen so many stars at one time ever before in my life. They were twinkling and shining like sugar on a plate. The unbelievable view that I was getting really helped me soothe my nerves. I had been having a tough time lately at work as well as during my studies and that moment of peace and serenity really helped me understand how I am such a small speck in this big universe and how my small problems do not really matter as much as I think they do. I would definitely like to visit again so that I can get that view once more in my life but it seems less likely because I am getting very burdened by my work and my studies which doesn't let me visit my hometown as much. I definitely would want to go in the near future but it seems a little less likely. I have always been a star gazer. When in my childhood I used to go to the terrace of my own home in Kolkata and look at the stars but now since I don't get the time I had forgotten how important and how significant that experience was.

My hometown is a very isolated place and not much of the pollution is there. For example, there is no light pollution, so you can see the sky pretty clear. And since childhood, I have been observing the night sky and I enjoy looking at the celestial objects and bodies in the sky. For me, when I first learned about the constellations, I would usually at night go and try to find those constellations in the sky, though that was my source of entertainment back when I was a kid and to this day I enjoy looking at the sky. And since there is no light pollution, you can easily see the Milky Way galaxy passing through the sky, which was a very fascinating thing and that made me into cosmology and study of stars. Two years back, we went on a college trip and we went to this park called Kanha National Park. It's located in the Madhya Pradesh state of India and we went there for the jungle safari and to do some research work and the park offers this stargazing session. So at night we were laid in the open field with mosquito nets and we were asked to watch the sky and since the area has no light pollution, it was completely dark and you can hear all kinds of insects and everything, but the sky was mesmerizing. I haven't seen anything like that and I have observed few constellations in the sky which I have studied and I was so impressed by myself to find these constellations in the sky. We also got to see the Milky Way galaxy which was passing through the sky. Me and my friends were completely amazed by the beauty of it, how surreal the feeling of being there at night with no disturbance and to enjoy the scenery in complete isolation. The sky is somehow printed in my mind and I sometimes whenever I am agitated or irritated, I try to think about those peaceful times when I observed the night sky in the national park. And next day we got to see the lions also which was also amazing. So it was overall an amazing experience.

Well, I am a kind of person who would prefer to watch a sunset rather than a moon or a star. Well, for the first few years when I shifted to Pune, there was a time when I was having a huge group of friends. And they made a plan of visiting Lonavala and watching a stargaze. And they have planned everything in that journey. And I thought what a boring plan it is to go and just watch stars. I would rather sleep in my couch rather than doing that thing and spending a lot of money on it. So they forced me that it's our first year, let's do something thrilling and adventurous. So I went with them. We were really enjoying in car. And the time came when we actually have to go for a stargazing. We all were under the night, under the beautiful sky of moon and stars. And we realized that it's so peaceful around. There was literally like pin drop silence. And I could hear the sound of insects and beautiful birds. And everyone was so focused on watching the beautiful star that we stopped talking to each other and we were just focused. And after few minutes, I realized that it's so peaceful. Well, it's different when it comes to watching a sunset. It was totally different.

Some stars are the most beautiful celestial bodies. They shine bright in the dark sky. There are many heavenly bodies in the sky like moon and other planets but stars have their different edge. I enjoy seeing stars in the dark sky because stars indicate us that no matter how dark the clouds are, no matter how dark the sky is, there is something beautiful shining behind them. So we should wait and put self confidence on ourselves so that we can see that through our eyes. I just want to say that stars are really a beautiful piece of art made by God.

Well, to be honest, as I am an introvert person, so I like spending my time with star, moon because I like evening time most. Here I would like to tell about the incidents that occurred just last night. Actually, it was 10 p.m. I was on terrace of my house. I was sitting on the roof looking forward to the star, moon, their brightness, shining stars, their fluctuations. These things made me feel and think too better. That was amazing for me. Actually, by sitting on my roof, I share my views and thoughts with stars. I just look at their beauty and then relax my mind. I overcome any type of stress whenever I saw them in any position. If I talk about my enjoyment, I feel so... I feel over the moon whenever I saw the stars because it is a different type of happiness that I get from them which nobody can give me. On the daily basis, I go to the moon, stars, and then share my thoughts, views, not in just that I am a stress-able person. No. As nowadays, every people have their own stress.

Back in 2020, when I visited my village, I was there in an open space behind my house and from where I can clearly see the stars. Not faintly, I would say, it was a very clear path because the sky is very clear in my village area where there is very less of lights and more of a greenery situation. So, we as a family went there and my cousins and I were sitting and we were staring at the sky, we were gazing at it, we clicked few photographs and we started, we opened an app where it shows the nakshatra which are the constellation stars. We checked which are the nearby cathedrals, stories and etc. We enjoyed it, we had a great moment. I usually do snaps which I send to my friends and we could clearly see how beautiful they were there and how clearly it can be seen there rather than in Mumbai where it is very dark. It is much polluted and we couldn't see the sky clearly here because it is so polluted, there is traffic everywhere and contradictory to this, the village, the village where people most don't like to go but the sky is clear in morning, in night and every day and we can observe the stars very clearly, where we live very clearly. I like that big stars are there.

    Band 6

Well, to speak about my nature, I am very friendly type of nature, I like to observe things and places where I visit. So, in my opinion, when I was in my studies and my observation, I have learned that observing stars is a very mesmerizing thing to do and I love to enjoy watching this. I still remember the time when I went with my friends in a camp in Nashik, Bhandar Dam, where we were going for a trail near the village to catch fireflies around the area and it was a very mesmerizing thing and after that, one of my friends, Fagun, she is a very dear friend to mine, she asked me about how about you watch, do you like watching stars, observing them and I was like, yeah, definitely, I do love this and one of the very crucial thing about this is watching these stars around the corner feels like very home to me and I think this is what I feel about the nature. In future, to speak about the future, in future, if there is any chance that observing stars in the nature, I would definitely do it and we are planning, my few friends are planning to visit to a memorial site near me where we can watch the stars along with few drinks and this is what I believe and yes, to be honest, yeah, I do like this.

    Band 6

First of all I like star very much. I used to go to my home terrace on night to watch these stars and I like to eat in front of it because I'm seeing the while seeing the stars and eating is like a kind of good feeling and I'll try to number the stars and I'll count that out so and I'll take some pictures and send to my friend and I'll try to understand how many stars are existing in this world but unfortunately I can't count the stars because of its uncountable stars are there so I can't count that. I'll just sit just think about my future and I'll just relax myself. I feel comfortable when I'm sitting alone in the dark night seeing the stars. I like it very much. Sometimes I used to call my mother and sit with my mother in the terrace and we'll talk together by seeing the stars. She used to give me food by showing the stars in my childhood. It was such a good experience for me. In future after my marriage I'm also going to give food to my son like showing the stars and it's a good experience for everyone. Everyone must try once in their life. They must go sit in the terrace. They have to watch stars.

    Band 6

I never knew stargazing at night can be a kind of therapy, until I did that myself. It was an unplanned night that me and two of my friends sat at the shore of the beach with beer in our hand and started talking about life. I have no words to explain the feeling I went through that day. It was just beyond words. I felt like a complete whole new person. I was the happiest at that moment. The sea breeze, sounds of the wave, stars ahead, and my friends sitting next to me, the beach sights, that just made my day. We were at the beach, Malpe. Just looking at the stars or sitting at the beach makes me feel like how big the universe is and how small our problems are. We keep worrying about our problems and stressing about the same things on everyday basis, but we never realize that it's a big universe and your problems are very small and it will pass through.
