When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

I was planning on visiting my aunt this weekend. However, I got my funds for my visa and I thought of expediting the entire process by skipping my visit to my aunt for a festival that she was calling me for. So I basically delayed the gratification and hope to meet her soon another time. I feel that it is a redirection in my favour and it has happened for good. So I am just trying to make the most of it. Besides, I can already see the sunnier side or the positive things that are happening because I took the decision to postpone my travel to my aunt's village down south in India. And here I am, writing my IELTS exam and making the most of the weekend. So, hence I guess I did good by everyone.

One plan I had to change recently was a short weekend trip with my college friends. We were to visit Hampi. My college friends were travelling all the way from Bangalore to my place, which Hampi is almost 30 km from the place I am currently living. So I had to cancel this because there was an urgent call from my home where they asked me to go back because my granny was a little sick. I felt quite disappointed and I was really looking forward to spending time with them. And also in nature, this was a moment to keep myself relaxed away from work. But at the same time I understood the importance of family time and what required me to go back. We have now postponed the trip to next month and I am hoping everything goes as planned as the last time.

Recently, I was part of the organizational team of a carnival fundraiser, which aimed to raise money for electricity and the inverter of a small children's home nearby in Bangalore. However, the carnival day, which was supposed to be filled with fun and excitement, and was the result of a grueling month of work and planning, became quickly blacked out due to the sudden introduction of harsh weather at the venue. We also had to deal with uncommitted volunteers who were wanting to go home instead of staying back to help us plan the rest of the event and relocate some of the activities. In the end, the lack of motivation from everyone around us, including the volunteers, the team itself, and the thousands of parents that showed up expecting a day of fun, pushed us to cancel some of the game stalls and a few of the special activities and events we had planned, which included a puppet show and a magic show. The main disappointment was having to relay this to the interested parents that were looking forward to continuing with the day, even during the rain, which was quite unexpected. This day has motivated me to consider planning for various scenarios earlier in time, rather than being stuck on figuring out what to do the day of.

My original plan for my career professionally was to opt for psychology alone as my major and criminal psychology as my minor. However, lately I was very interested in exploring the domain of neuroscience and artificial intelligence. So, I looked up on the web, I researched different articles and journals and I was immediately hooked. I loved how neuroscience and psychology had a perfect intersection which was neuropsychology. Further, I also delved into the realm of biopsychology which was as interesting but I would say that I am not such a fan of biology. So, I stuck to neuropsychology. Additionally, I looked for career options that could be integrated with a neuropsychology degree and I was very interested in being a neuropsychologist with a speciality in cultural sensitivity and artificial intelligence ethics. Hence, I changed my career pathways. I now am considering taking neuropsychology. It is my first primary option.

Making plan is a part of everyday life, whether it's about work, travel, or personal goal. However, things don't always go as expected, and sometimes we are forced to change our plan due to unexpected circumstances. Today I would like to talk about a recent plan I had to change at the last moment. A few weeks ago, I planned a weekend trip to Mount Abu with my cousin. Everyone was super excited. We booked a resort, made an itinerary, and applied for leave from work. This was a purpose to spend quality time with family and take a short break from our busy schedule. Unfortunately, just two days before the trip, my cousin's younger brother had a minor accident and had hospitalized for a few days. Although it was not very serious, he needed someone to be around to take care of him. So naturally, we had to cancel the trip and focus on supporting the family during that time. Honestly, I felt quite disappointed at first as I was really looking forward to the break. But at the same time, I understand that family always comes first, and his health is more important than any vacation. So in the end, we decided to postpone the trip rather than cancel it completely. Hopefully, we will be able to go once every day settled down.

It was my dad's birthday recently and all of our relatives had decided that they'll come and they'll surprise my dad for his 50th birthday. But in the last minute, I think because of their own commitments, none of them could show up. And my mom and I, we got so anxious because we didn't know what to do. We had planned the day in such a way that it included all of our relatives. But then obviously we had to do something. So I remember it was just a week ago where all of us, we decided to go and take a tour of the Delhi city. So I remember we went to the Lotus Temple first. And I don't know if you've seen it, but it's literally shaped like a lotus. It's one of the most unique structures that I've come across. It's literally an architectural marvel, both in Delhi and globally. What sat with us, with all of us basically, was the fact that it was so serene and so peaceful. Unlike any other temple, it doesn't come with its own set of idols and priests. It basically provides you with a space to sit, meditate and relax. And I think that's something that my dad loved. We then went to the Lodhi Gardens. And all of us were outfit coordinated. So my dad wore a floral shirt, I had worn a floral skirt and my mom wore a floral dress. So all of us, we clicked so many pictures. And the weather was just complimenting the whole day because it was so cloudy. And then we went to my dad's favorite place to eat. It's a biryani place in Connaught Place. And it's something that we absolutely loved. We came back at around 7pm, cut the cake. And I remember my dad telling me how it was the best birthday of his life. And so my mom and I were very grateful that...

Recently I had made a plan to go on a short weekend trip with my friends to a nearby hill station called Manali. We had been planning it for weeks. We booked a hotel, made a list of places to visit and we really looking forward to taking a break from our daily routines. We planned it because we had just finished our exams and wanted to relax and enjoy some fresh mountains air. It was also a chance to spend quality time with my friends and take some amazing photos in nature. However, just two days before the trip the weather forecast showed heavy snowfall and road blockages. Some areas were even declared unsafe for travels. Our parents were also concerned so we had to cancel all our bookings and drop the plan. It was really disappointing because we were excited and had prepared everything. Instead we decided to have a house party at one of my friend's place. We played games, watched movies and cooked food together even though it was not the same as a hill station trip. It turned out to be a lot of fun. At first I felt sad about the change but later I realized that it was the right decision. Safety is more important and we will still manage to make great memories together.

Originally, I had a planned weekend getaway with two of my closest friends to Munnar. A hill station in Kerala known for its deep plantations and serene landscape. We had everything lined up, we booked a beautiful cottage, hired a cab and even created a small itinerary with places we wanted to explore like Iravikulam National Park and Mattupettida. However, just two days before the trip, the weather forecast took a dramatic turn, heavy rainfall warnings were issued and there were reports of potential landslides in the area. For safety reasons, we had no choice but to cancel our hill station trip even though we were really looking forward to it. Honestly, I was quite disappointed at first. Instead of sulking, we quickly decided to make the most of our time together. We changed plans and booked a short staycation at a beach resort near Varkala which wasn't affected by the rains. It was more of a laid back trip with spa sessions, seafood dinners and peaceful walks along the cliff. It turned out to be surprisingly relaxing and gave us time to unwind which we actually needed more than we realized. Looking back, I felt really content with the change although we had to give up our original adventure. The new plan gave us a different kind of joy. The joy of slowing down, having a meaningful conversation and enjoying the simple beauty of the sea. It was also a reminder that being flexible and open-minded can lead to unexpectedly positive experiences.

Recently, my friend and I were supposed to travel to London, but the recent Air India air crash to London derailed our plans and we couldn't travel. The week that originally we were supposed to travel to London, I had sublet my apartment to a fellow neighbor and due to the last moment derailment of our plan, that week, I had to My friend Shikha and I had a plan to travel to London to see Adele's concert, but recently the flight that we were supposed to be taking Air India had a crash due to which all the subsequent flights were derailed and this caused a damper in our travel plans. The week that we were supposed to travel at, I had sublet my apartment already, due to which I had no place to stay, so I ended up staying over at another friend's place and even though this caused a change in our original plans, it turned out to be quite fun as I got to reconnect with my friend and we spent the entire night revisiting our childhood memories and it was a good bonding experience. Subsequently, we went out the next day to the airline to figure out the alternative travel plans as we had already made down payments for our flight tickets and accommodation. The airline reverted to us saying that our refund would be processed in a month. Further, they also offered alternative flight tickets next month, which Shikha and I were very eager to take as Adele also said she will be hosting another concert in London in the following month that we were considering to travel. And like they say, all's well that ends well. Our travel plans although may have been derailed, but we were able to come up with a backup option to finally visit London.
