When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

Answer

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

As a PhD aspirant in sociology, one person I would genuinely like to work with is Professor Amita Bhaviskar, who is one of India's most respected sociologists known for her work on environmental politics and social inequality. I first came across her research while reading her book In the Belly of the River, which explores the intersection of ecology, development and displacement, themes that resonate deeply with my proposed doctoral research. If I had the opportunity, I would love to work under her supervision on a project examining gendered experiences of environmental displacement in rural India. Her critical yet grounded approach to field work, along with her commitment to amplifying marginalized voices, aligns perfectly with my own research ethos. The main reason I wish to work with her is her academic rigor and intellectual generosity. She encourages interdisciplinary thinking and has an extraordinary ability to transform theoretical frameworks into meaningful social insights. I believe that working with her would not only refine my methodological skills but also help me evolve as an independent and socially engaged researcher.

A person I would really like to work with is my former professor, Dr. Shinde. He taught me during my post-graduate studies and to this day, I consider him one of the most inspiring teachers I have ever met in my life. His passion for science and his dedication to research are truly contagious. I got to know him well during my master's project, where he guided me in conducting experiments on thin film materials. What amazed me the most was his patience and his ability to simplify even the most complex concepts. He always encourages his students to think outside the box. Rather than just memorizing theories, I really admired the quality because it pushes the students to develop a scientific temperament and genuine curiosity. If I ever get the chance, I would love to work with him on an advanced research project related to nanomaterials. He has a knack for bringing out the best in his students and work under his supervision would not only polish my technical skills but also help me become a more disciplined and independent researcher. Another reason I would like to collaborate with him is his down-to-earth nature. Despite his achievement, the way he treats everyone equally and maintains a warm, approachable personality is really commendable. In a nutshell, Dr. Shinde is someone who embodies both knowledge and humility and working with him would be a golden opportunity to learn, grow and contribute meaningfully to science.

The person I'd absolutely love to work with one day is the Indian fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. He's not just a designer, he's practically an institution in the Indian fashion world. I first came across his work about seven years ago when I saw his famous Heritage Revival bridal collection. Those heavy lehengas dripping with antique zari, gota work and old world craftsmanship. What blew me away was how he takes centuries old Indian techniques that were almost dying and turns out them into something breathtakingly modern and luxurious at the same time. If I ever got the chance to work with him even as an intern or as junior assistant, I think it would be life changing for me. I'm really passionate about sustainable and slow fashion and Sabyasachi is one of the few big names who still works extensively with Indian artisans and handloom weavers. He's revived so many traditional crafts like Banarasi brocade, palamkari and bandhani and actually pays the caregirds fairly which is unfortunately rare in the industry. I'd love to learn how he balances commercial success with preserving culture, how he sources those vintage textiles and most importantly how he creates that magical Sabyasachi bride feeling that makes women feel loyal, royal. His studio in Kolkata is supposed to be like a treasure trove of fabrics, antiques and mood boards. I can already picture myself.

A person that I would like to work with is my head of department. Her name is Archana and she has been leading our public relations department for the past three years. I have been so inspired by the way she works because it has always been top-notch and whenever we are in any situation that requires quick decision-making she's the first one to step in and gives the most appropriate solutions for the given problems. Also I have learned a lot from her and I definitely imply everything that she tells me or guides me with.
