The University of South Dakota is a public research university located in South Dakota, a state in the Midwestern United States. The university was founded in 1862 and has since gone on to become the flagship university in South Dakota. The university is also the oldest public university in the state and is renowned for its high research output. The university has seven schools and colleges, including the only medical and law school in the state. They offer 205 undergraduate, 75 graduate programs and doctoral programs in multiple fields of education. International undergraduate applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.6 on a 4.0 scale in secondary school. Students from non-English speaking countries must provide the following English language competency exam score:

Admission Process

What is the procedure for applying to the UG programme?

All undergraduate applicants, including overseas students, must apply through the Common Application portal at www.commonapp.org/explore/university-of-south-dakota. You can fill up your application by following the steps outlined below:

Step 1: Decide whether you want to be a freshman or a transfer student. As a new user, create an account.
Step 2: After logging in, the University of South Dakota application will appear on your dashboard automatically. If the university's name does not show, however, you can utilise the 'College Search' option.
Step 3: Students should now go to the 'My Colleges' section and begin filling out all of the essential information one by one, as illustrated in the figure below.

Upload supporting papers, respond to the essay prompt, properly examine the application, and submit it after paying the application processing cost.

What is the procedure for submitting a PG application?

International graduate applicants can submit their applications directly to the university through the GradCas Application site (gradcas.liaisoncas.org/apply/). To fill out your application form, follow these steps:

Step 1: Click the 'Apply' button after selecting the term in which you want to begin your studies.
Step 2: Create an account on the portal and log in to begin the application process. Select the appropriate option after logging in — international students with F-1 or J-1 visas or permanent residents of the United States.

Step 3: In the search bar, type in USD, select the programme of your choosing, and go to the 'How to Apply' section, as seen below. Then, to add a programme to your preferred programmes list, click the '+' icon.
Step 4: Confirm the courses you've entered by clicking 'View Selected Programs.' After that, scroll down and click the 'Continue' button, then the 'Continue to My Application' option to fill out all of the necessary information.
Step 5: Once you've completed all of the areas and uploaded all of your documents, go over your application again. Submit your application form after paying the application fees.
