Requirements For Undergraduate Studies


In addition to the midterm results for Grade 12, applicants must also provide authentic transcripts for grades 9 through 11. The application must, by law, be accompanied by the board test results. The university accepts results from the CBSE, CICSE and State boards. Rice looks for students who exhibit intellectual vibrancy through their course choices and academic achievement. Most applicants will push themselves by making use of the challenging coursework offered to them. Students must finish the following requirements at a minimum:


  • Obtain high SAT or ACT scores
  • Obtain high school credits: 16 in total


Requirements For Graduates


A minimum 3.0-Grade Point Average is required to graduate from an accredited university to apply for a master's degree. Additionally, some courses could ask applicants to submit their GRE or GMAT results.



PhD Requirements and Research-Based Courses


The following are the primary academic prerequisites for enrollment in a graduate research or PhD programme at Rice University:

  • Research-focused master's degree; or
  • A first- or second-class bachelor's degree with honours;
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out independent PhD-level research.

Additionally, candidates must present a compelling research plan.

Candidate for Undergraduate Admission

All overseas candidates must use the Coalition Application portal or the Common Application platform, just like domestic applicants. Students may request an alumni interview (optional) by early November after submitting their applications through one of these portals.


Candidate for Graduate Admission


Through its online application platform, Rice accepts direct applications from international students. At Rice University, there isn't a pathway choice. Students who don't have all the required credits are nevertheless asked to attend summer school to make a difference.


Step 1: As a new user, you must register and set up an account. Take note of the generated ID and password for further usage.

Step 3: Decide on your selected course and any necessary information. Before submitting the application form, please fill it out and make the required payment.
