University of Southampton Opens 2026 Scholarships for Indian Students: UK and Delhi Campus Both Covered
The University of Southampton opened a campus in Gurugram under the National Education Policy 2020, becoming the first international university licensed by the Indian government to operate a branch campus in India. For August 2026, it has announced an expanded scholarship portfolio for Indian students.
At the same time, the UK campus in Southampton has opened the India Excellence Scholarship for Indian nationals applying to postgraduate programs, and that deadline closes on June 20, 2026.
Both tracks are described below. Where you plan to study determines which award applies to you.

What the University of Southampton Is
Southampton is a Russell Group public research university ranked in the global top 100 in the QS World University Rankings 2026, with an acceptance rate of approximately 84%.

Scholarships for the Delhi Campus (August 2026 Intake)
The Delhi campus in Gurugram offers four undergraduate and five postgraduate programs, all taught to the same standards as the UK campus with the same modules and assessments. Three awards are available for August 2026:
Award 1: Delhi Presidential Scholarship, Full Tuition Fee Waiver
Two scholarships per intake: one undergraduate, one postgraduate. The most competitive award on this list.
What it covers:
- Undergraduate: Full tuition waiver for the 3-year program
- Postgraduate: Full tuition waiver for the 1-year Master's degree
Who can apply:
- Students applying to any of the nine Delhi campus programs for August 2026
- Consistent academic excellence across your entire career, not just final year marks
- Must demonstrate the University's values alongside academic performance
- Continued academic excellence required to maintain the award
Shortlisting happens in two phases: postgraduate recipients are announced first, and undergraduates subsequently.
Award 2: Future Talent Scholarship, INR 2,32,000 Tuition Reduction
Up to 30 students across all nine programs receive the most accessible competitive scholarship at the Delhi campus.
What it covers:
- INR 2,32,000 reduction in tuition fees
- Undergraduate: extended for the full 3-year duration, subject to continued performance
- Postgraduate: covers the full 1-year program
Who can apply:
- Students applying to any Delhi campus program
- A strong academic record is the primary criterion
- Scholarship application submitted alongside your program application
With 30 awards across nine programs, students with strong but not exceptional records have a good chance here.
Award 3: Future Talent Bursary, Up to INR 6,60,000 (Need-Based)
A financial aid award for academically strong undergraduate students who also need financial support.
What it covers:
- Up to INR 6,60,000 toward tuition fees for one academic year
- Undergraduate students only
Who can apply:
- Strong academic performance required
- Financial need assessed alongside academic merit

Scholarships for the UK Campus
India Excellence Scholarship, GBP 4,000 (Rs. 5,14,600)
Deadline: June 20, 2026
- GBP 4,000 off tuition fees for Indian nationals applying to in-person postgraduate Master's programs at Southampton, UK
- UK campus PG tuition runs from GBP 22,000 to GBP 30,000 per year (Rs. 28.30 lakh to Rs. 38.60 lakh). After this scholarship: GBP 18,000 to GBP 26,000 (Rs. 23.16 lakh to Rs. 33.45 lakh)
- Apply through the scholarship portal at southampton.ac.uk before June 20
Arts and Humanities International Scholarship, GBP 10,000 (Rs. 12.87 lakh)
Deadline: June 30, 2026
- 40 scholarships for international students in arts or humanities at undergraduate or postgraduate level
- Open to all international students, not India-specific
Delhi Campus vs UK Campus: Which Is Right for You
Choose Delhi if you want a Southampton degree without relocating to the UK, your program is available in Gurugram, and lower fees are a priority. The degree credential is identical.
Choose the UK campus if your program is not at Delhi, if you want UK Graduate Route post-study work rights (2 years for Master's graduates), or if you want the full Russell Group research environment at Southampton.
How to Apply
Delhi campus: Apply through the University of Southampton Delhi admissions portal. Scholarship consideration is part of the admissions review; in most cases, there is no separate portal, except for the bursary. Apply as early as possible.
UK campus, India Excellence Scholarship: Apply to your program at southampton.ac.uk, then submit the scholarship application before June 20, 2026.
English language (both campuses): IELTS 6.5 overall, no band below 6.0 for most programs. PTE and TOEFL are also accepted.

The India Excellence Scholarship closes June 20. The Delhi campus August 2026 scholarships are assessed on a first-come, first-served basis; the earlier you apply, the better your position.
