Best Music Schools in the World 2026: QS Subject Rankings Explained

Best Music Schools in the World 2026: QS Subject Rankings Explained

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, released March 25, 2026, include a dedicated music category covering 50 institutions across more than 20 study destinations. A separate Performing Arts ranking covers 150 institutions across 30+ countries. Both tables measure four indicators: academic reputation (150,000+ academic surveys), employer reputation (99,000+ employer surveys), research citations per paper, and the H-index. Academic and employer reputation are the most heavily weighted indicators, which is why specialist conservatories frequently outrank large comprehensive universities.

QS Subject Rankings for Music are from the 2026 edition, the most current music-specific data available. The QS Overall Rankings 2027 (released June 2026) do not include a subject-specific music table.

Currency note: 1 EUR = Rs. 109.63 as of July 14, 2026 (BookMyForex live rate). Always verify current rates before financial planning.
