A year ago, I gave a TED talk to a very popular YouTube channel, a regional channel called Josh Talks Tamil. This talk was about my lifetime and my experience since childhood until the age of 30, how I have become a successful soft skills trainer, the obstacles that I faced, the struggles that I had to overcome and the techniques that I used to get to the position of where I am. This talk was addressed to the social media audience of Tamil Nadu and it was quite a talk where I had been given a chance to share my life experience in just 15 minutes. What I spoke was mainly about my health issues and how I was always a very enthusiastic person looking out for opportunities to showcase my talent, to show off my skills, to get the center stage, but I was always ignored by most of the people and people never valued my talent or hardly gave me a chance. However, this particular talk got me the confidence to express my deepest fears and emotions and after giving this talk, I felt a kind of a liberation. Moreover, I felt the need to give such talks to feel more confident, to feel more optimistic and positive and the people who watched or heard this talk also said that they got an experience of a lifetime and felt really happy for my growth and they were really appreciative of what I have done.

As an alumni of the design institution where I once studied, I was invited to inspire the students for a portfolio talk. I was called to guide the students to create their portfolio for their design entrance examinations. Being once in their shoes, I could completely relate to how they were feeling about the portfolio and their entrance examinations. So it was an amazing experience to help them guide and ease their fears into expressing themselves for their portfolio. I began with an easy introduction as to how they can be themselves in the portfolio and they do not need to achieve that level of perfection and they could just be themselves and draw and still get through the whole process. It was a wonderful experience and it gave me a sense of achievement and made me feel proud about myself as to where I once stood and where I am right now. The talk also inspired the students as well as me because it was an enriching experience overall.

Last year, after performing brilliantly in my CAT examination and achieving a very high percentile of 99.75, I decided to endeavor into teaching in helping others achieve similar outstanding results. Mentoring in teaching was something that I had never tried my hand at before. So when I went for an interview, I was introduced to a class of 30 odd people and told to share my test taking strategies and mentor them about best practices regarding the test. I narrated and elaborated all the best practices that I used and study related queries that they brought in. After solving all their doubts and during the explanation itself, I felt a deep sense of pleasure and satisfaction helping a wide strata of people. Moreover, I was able to effectively solve and answer all the queries that they raised which provided me a sense of self-confidence during that time. On top of it, the queries that they brought in, the answers that I gave were so natural that I myself did not know I had this deep sense of knowledge and I felt really proud about that talk.

One talk I clearly remember giving was in my school assembly last year. I was chosen to speak about the importance of time management for students preparing for board exams. The audience was quite large, all the students from grades 9 to 12 and the teachers were present, so it was a little intimidating at first. I began the speech by sharing my own daily routine and explained how I divide my time between studies, revision, and relaxation. To make it relatable, I mentioned common problems like procrastination and last-minute studying, and then suggested simple solutions such as making a timetable, setting small goals, and avoiding distractions like social media and while studying. So, the talk was titled as Religious Crisis in the Vocations of Many Priests and Religious. And the interesting part about this particular topic was that it sparked my interest because of the pressing issue that has been seen within the context of religious life. There is a dwindling effect of religious people not really serious about their spirituality.     As India is a very large country full of diversity, so there are many places which have their own language and speak their native language. The place which I visited and I didn't know about their language was Leladakh, which is about 300 km away from my hometown and it is a very good place as it consists of different kind of trees, animals and have many scenic views and I visited over there last year in summers as it was the best time to visit because it has many, it was cold over there and we had summers in our area so it was the best time to visit over there and I went over there with my whole family.

    When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

    It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

    So, I am currently mentoring a few of my juniors to do a film festival and last week I had an opportunity to talk to all of them. So, I told them about my experiences that I have been doing this film festival for quite some time now and in 2023 I was the film festival director and I told them lots of experiences I had gone through, the variety of people, the different perspectives that they bring in and how they have so much creative space to do so. And I also told them that I was the event director in 2024 and how there are so many last moment changes, venue changes and a lot of problem with picking up the guests and dropping them and I told them how the instincts have to be really quick and how they can pull off anything with the presence of mind at that moment and I told them that in a platform like this, you will have to keep your ego outside the doorstep and enter the room because there are people, even if you are the leader of the team, there are people who might have much much better suggestions than you and you always have to be open to take up those suggestions and work on them in a team. Building team dynamics is the most important thing to be a leader. So I love how I got the opportunity to talk to my juniors and I really adore my professor who has given me this chance to talk to them and share my experiences and I was very proud of myself of how far I have come because when I look back, I know how I grew. I know how my journey was not easy but I also know how I did not give up.

    So, I gave a talk to my fellow classmates. In a classroom, we were allotted different topics by teachers and I chose the topic Artificial Intelligence. One of the main reasons why I decided to present a speech or a talk in front of a classroom was that I have a terrible stage fear since I was a child, so I wanted to push myself, I wanted to come out of the cocoon that I have shielded myself with and if I don't try now, I would never try it again, that is why I decided to push myself against my limits and I wanted to overcome this fear that has gripped my life for so long. A lot of my colleagues really liked how I presented the topic. I was nervous before going on stage, but once I entered the quorum, my nervousness went away, I felt emboldened and confident.     So, I gave the talk to my classmates. The group of people who I gave the talk was to my classmates and I had to speak about film genres and it was a film studies class. So, the group of people I had to give talk was to my classmates. It was a film studies class and I had to talk about my favorite genre of film and I spoke about film noir. It's a specific genre that captures the elements of a movie which has different features such as mist flowing above the clouds and mainly the movie is revolved around mystery, thriller, true crimes, for example Alfred Hitchcock's movie that is Shadow of a Doubt. Thankfully, I was able to give the class really well and it was well received by my classmates. It was for my seminar and I gave the talk to my classmates and I had to talk about film noir. It was for my film studies class and genre film and I choose. So, the group of people who I gave talk to was definitely to my classmates during my university days while doing my bachelor's degree in English honours. It was a film studies class and I had to present the seminar since it will be graded. So, I was asked to talk about film genre and I chose film noir. It's a very niche area within the classic Hollywood films and I had to go through the features of the film and explain them and give examples of the movies. It was about film genre and I chose for the seminar. I was very anxious at the time but I have. So, I gave talk to my classmates. It was about genre film for my film studies class. I did it during my undergrad while doing my bachelor's in English literature and the topic I chose was film noir. I had to speak about it because I was being graded on it. We had group of presentations for our internals and everybody has to choose their own favourite topic and I chose film noir because I love watching old classic Hollywood films. For instance, Shadow of Doubt by Alfred Hitchcock is one prime example to portray how a film noir is. That is black and white, mystery, thriller with a bit of suspense and other elements would be smoke rising in the scene, tense background music. So, these are the elements present in film noir and I had to explain that to my classmates. I was very nervous while giving presentation because definitely I was worked up and I had huge stage fright. Thankfully, I had immense reverence for my professor for receiving it well and easing my anxiety because I was extremely nervous whether I would mess up or if I go blank or if I forget any points or if I don't talk over any important parts that I had practiced back in the time. So, yeah, it was a very nerve-wracking time in my life because giving presentations was definitely a hassle for me.

    Band 6-7

    Recently I gave a talk on motivation. It was particularly motivational talk. I gave to people of 50 in my college. It was actually a competition for speech and my theme was to give motivation. I started speaking and I also used some idioms, phrases and some particular dialogues from other movies which greatly attracted them. I also had some guiding techniques from my professors and lecturers. They helped me to change some particular things which will affect the college institution. So they helped me to change some topics and they also guided me to the success path. I also won the competition simultaneously. The audience particularly enjoyed my way of speech. I used some slang of different accents and I also performed mimicry skills. Nothing like male or female, just some mimicry skills of animals like cat, dog, rabbit, goat etc. I saw how they clearly enjoyed my speaking and at last I could say that they were particularly motivated. I think my audience enjoyed my speech.
