I received a valuable piece of advice last weekend while I was seeing and listening to a podcast by the actor named Keanu Reeves. It was a valuable piece of advice which said that pain is the gatekeeper of destiny. The word with a heavy sentence, with a heavy meaning. It said that until you endure pain, you cannot reach your destiny, you cannot be successful. So you have to train yourself to endure the pain, rise after you fall, and then claim your destiny. So I felt very positive about this advice, I thought about it, and I thought and finally decided to implement it to my life. But easier said than done, I have to do some changes in my routine. I have to generally adapt and improvise to a new routine, which will include a routine of discipline, exercise, and focus in order to implement this advice and integrate it into my personality and also into my life. I am grateful for this advice and I continue to watch podcasts by the actor Keanu Reeves. He has many valuable lessons to share, which he has experienced during his lifetime. Also, it lifts my mood up, especially recently when I failed.

Follow up questions

How do you usually respond to advice from others?
I tend to reflect on advice before implementing it. I consider the source and whether it aligns with my values. If it resonates, I try to incorporate it into my life, but I also seek to understand it deeply before making any changes.

Can you share a time when you successfully implemented advice?
Yes, I once received advice about time management. I started using a planner to organize my tasks. This helped me prioritize better and reduce stress. I felt more accomplished and found that I had more time for leisure activities, which improved my overall well-being.

What challenges do you face when trying to follow advice?
One major challenge is consistency. It's easy to feel motivated initially, but maintaining discipline over time can be tough. Life's distractions and my own habits often make it difficult to stick to new routines, so I have to remind myself of the benefits regularly.

Two weeks earlier before I applied, I started planning for my abroad. I actually was planning to go to Germany for my masters but due to my credit constraint, the consultancy advised me not to take off to Germany because it might lead to rejection in my application. So during that time I felt very depressed and very upset because it was a plan I have been making since 3-4 years which is because of the failing of the plan, my two years plan has been wasted. I was very down during the next two days. My father then advised me to bounce back and be resilient because life is all about ups and downs and uncertainties and he advised me not to feel down about it and try to think of another plan so that I wouldn't waste the next upcoming days. He also suggested me to feel motivated and encouraged because at least we have got to know about the process at the right time. After his advice, I felt grateful and encouraged to start my applications to the UK universities and I actually felt grateful of having him as my dad and it's important to be resilient when you're in the lowest point in your life because it is the time when God is testing how much you are able to face challenges and difficulties. This shows that you are strong and independent enough to work towards achieving your dream.

Follow up questions

How did you feel after receiving your father's advice?
After receiving my father's advice, I felt a sense of relief and motivation. His words helped me to shift my perspective from feeling defeated to being proactive about my future. I realized that setbacks are part of life, and his encouragement inspired me to explore new opportunities.

What other plans did you consider after the advice?
After my father's advice, I considered applying to universities in the UK. I researched various programs that aligned with my interests and career goals. This shift in focus allowed me to see new possibilities and helped me to stay positive and motivated during a challenging time.

Why do you think resilience is important in life?
Resilience is crucial because it helps us navigate through life's challenges and uncertainties. It allows us to bounce back from setbacks and maintain a positive outlook. Being resilient means we can adapt and find new paths to achieve our goals, even when faced with difficulties.

When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

Answer

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

So, I have received a lot of advices since my childhood, but I would really like to mention one which I received recently, a few days back, by my father. So, when I was a child, my father used to advise me and help me to differentiate between the right and the wrong things, but as I am growing up, a few days back, he called me and advised me about my career and I think this is the most valuable one. So, I am about to graduate and now I am very confused and not able to decide what to do in my life. So, my father called me and advised me how to carry on my studies and how to do better in my future. And so he wants and as I have to leave for my studies and I have to leave my home, so he advised me how to stay focused and help me to choose the correct path. Since my childhood, I used to do whatever he says, but now it happened once in a blue moon. So, he advised me about what options should I choose and what kind of people I should be with. Nowadays, it is very difficult to choose correct people and correct society which will help you to grow in your life. So, since childhood, his advice has been very generous and really helpful for me and I believe that till now and till our very older age, his advice will help me and keep me motivated to keep on working in my life. The piece of advice I have received from my friend Rehan. Rehan is my friend since 12 years. He is my childhood friend and we have a plethora number of memories with him. He gave me a suggestion for buying a smartphone. Although I suggested for myself a bad smartphone, but he has suggested me to buy a good smartphone. Therefore, it has excellent features in it. In addition to it, he also referred me to buy an electronic earphones which are helpful for me for listening in aisles. In addition to it, he also supported me financially because I don't have proper money to buy a smartphone. He has helped me a lot to buy a smartphone and also he has provided me his credit card to pay the bill of the smartphone. The advice happened in last month by my friend. He gave me an excellent advice and he corrects me wherever I go wrong. When he suggested me, I like his suggestion most. I was very much happy. I was on the heaven because of his suggestion. Because he gave me a great advice to improve myself in my day to day life. He suggested me to buy a phone which has excellent features. Like he has suggested me to buy a phone with waterproof quality and 5G network in it. I was grateful for him and happy and I will continue to do so.

Band 6-7

So, people give me advice all the time and the advice that actually stayed with me and that actually changed my life was given to me by my brother in 2020, right before I guess two to three months before my exam in January 12th course and that advice was it's never too late. Like it's just three words advice but my brother gave it to me when I was crying one day in my room and I was crying because I was so far away from my syllabus, I hadn't completed at that time and I just started crying because I thought I will score less and at that time my brother sat with me, he first helped me to cry it all out and then he just said that it's never too late Suman and you can do it if you start just right now, just think about it, you still have time and you can still score a really good score in your 12th examination and at that time it was a big deal so he helped me understand that when life gives you a little bit of time, you use all of it, you don't think about failures instead you use that time and you make it worth it and so that's when I started studying and I just wrote it in my notebook that it's never too late and I used to look at it whenever I used to feel demotivated and I scored 92% in my 12th exam and that advice just stuck with me and after all these years that's the only advice I can give.

Band 6-7

When I was pretty much stuck between a lot of activities in both my personal and professional life, I happened to talk about this to my manager and he gave me a perfect advice to think about one thing at a time, which made and gave me a lot of clarity. It helped me complete all of my professional tasks and also provided me a clear view on my personal problems as well and after that I pretty much took his advice in all parts of life to work on any kind of problems.

Band 6-7

I would like to talk about an incident which advised, like the advice I took very seriously and got a lot of better change, that is last month I was preparing for exams and my sleep cycle is completely disturbed, like I used to wake up late in the morning and sleep in midnights which leads to disturbance in my sleep cycle and my sister noticed this and advised me a lot about sleeping early and even she explained me about how important and how important the sleep is and it is necessary to sleep at least 7-8 hours of good sleep so it does not affect mental and brain functions and she explained me a lot about how the improper sleep leads to mental and physical changes in behavior and she even noticed that sometimes I will be frustrated so easily and she is the person who advised me a lot about my sleep cycle and I thought it is necessary to concentrate on my health and I took her advice very seriously and I have been following 6-7 hours of proper sleep, going early to bed and waking up early and her advice made me feel like a proper healthy lifestyle and I feel good because there is a person in my life who gives me advice when I am doing something wrong so I feel blessed to have that kind of person and her advice really changed me a lot in my lifestyle.

Band 6-7

Recently I lost my phone and it was really heartbreaking. So when I told my mom about the incident, my mom gave me a piece of advice. She gave me an advice not to use phones in public places while working or going for travelling. She told me to keep my phone inside my pocket and not to take it out if it is not necessary. So that was one kind of advice that she gave me. On the other hand, I was devastated that my phone was lost and I almost broke out in tears. And I did break out in tears. It was silly if I think back now. At that moment I was completely broken. I valued my phone so much that I had so many memories in that phone. All my pictures that I had clicked with my friends, my family. They are all together taken away by pocket pictures. So it is really bad. And I think actions in public places should be maintained with real security. Because I had difficulty in getting back my phone. I met an FRI. However, with all the efforts that I made and the police, my phone was gone. I couldn't get it back again. It is something really sad. So I would like to advise. The advice which was given by my mom to everyone not to use phone in public places. Unless it is required.

Band 6-7

A piece of advice I received recently was from a book called Atomic Habits. While I was reading this book, I wanted to read this book because I wanted to understand the concept of consistency and getting things done in an effective manner. When I bought this book, I didn't expect it to change my thinking in any way, but after reading the book, it completely changed my perspective on the concept of consistency and discipline. The advice goes as, you do not fall to the level of your goals, but you only fall to the level of your systems. This was a very mind-changing advice or quote for me because for years I have been always setting up goals and trying to achieve them, but I have always failed to do so. This quote made me change the approach and focus solely on the idea of creating systems that help you achieve those goals. Having an effective system in place lets you execute the task in a formidable manner, giving you the motivation and the desire to do more things. After reading this advice and quote, it really changed my thinking and gave me a positive approach and a healthy relationship with myself because before as I was struggling to achieve goals, it completely destroyed my mental aspect and my mindset. After understanding this quote, it helped me achieve all my goals and made me a happy person overall.

Band 6-7

The recent advice that I got was from my old friend, which I lost contact because of some misunderstanding because of the third person. That advice was not to trust someone very, with your whole heart, and to put efforts to the person who is equally putting efforts for you.

Band 6-7

One piece of advice I could think of, which I still remember as crisp, is I got from my guide, my boss, my ex-boss, whom I did internship with, I don't remember when he told me this, but he told me that it is okay even if you mess things up because you're gonna work things and you're gonna try, you're gonna try again, you're gonna fail, but in the end, it's always going to work out, it's always going to be okay because I'm a person who is a big overthinker, who worries about everything. So it always makes me anxious that what if this goes wrong, what if I mess things up. So one day he sat me down and told me that it is fine, everybody messes up and people makes mistakes, which is their nature, it's okay, you don't have to worry about anything. So I took that advice in my mind and I still follow it every single day.

Band 6-7

Recently I had my second year test exams a week before and I was really tense that how can I now complete my syllabus and it's too much to study, I have to revise and will I get good marks and I was really feeling demotivated and depressed and I consulted that with my mother and she gave me a really good advice that see now you don't need to take tension, now you have studied hard, she told me some tips that how can I learn fast and she also advised me that you can't complete the whole syllabus in one night so you need to start it early so now I have realized that I really need to start early my studies and study everyday so I don't get this problem also she advised me to do some meditation and breathing exercise for the calmness of the mind and yeah multiple revision and some flash card techniques and story telling methods which really helped me a lot for the exams and yeah she said now see you do your best and leave the rest to God and yeah I did the same and I was after I consulted her I was feeling really motivated and inspired and then she recommended me to watch some videos about the inspiring youtubers and about the exams and then I attended the video lectures, revised according to her and I really now think that what she said was right
