SP Jain Global Launches Master of Management in Sydney: What Indian Students Need to Know About the Post-Study Work Opportunity

SP Jain School of Global Management launched a two-year Master of Management program at its Sydney campus in March 2026, with the inaugural October 2026 intake now open for applications.

The timing is deliberate. Australia recorded over 8,16,000 international student enrollments as of May 2025, with business and management among the most preferred fields of study, according to the Australian Government's Department of Education. SP Jain is pitching this program at students who want an Australian-accredited management degree, two years on the ground in Sydney, and a shot at staying and working in Australia after they graduate.

First, Understand What SP Jain Global Is

SP Jain School of Global Management is a private business school, not a public Australian university. It has campuses in Sydney, Singapore, Dubai, and Mumbai and is registered as an Institute of Higher Education by TEQSA, Australia's national higher education regulator. Its CRICOS registration is what allows it to enroll international students on Australian student visas.

On rankings: SP Jain's Executive MBA sits at 29th globally in the QS International Trade ranking for 2026 and has been recognized by Bloomberg Businessweek, Forbes, and The Economist. Those rankings apply to the MBA. They do not automatically extend to every program SP Jain offers, including the newly launched MoM.

The Sydney campus sits in Lidcombe, right next to Sydney Olympic Park, about 14 kilometers from the CBD. It is reachable by train and spans 6,000 square meters across three floors.

The Master of Management: Two Years, One Campus, Five Specialisations

The MoM is a two-year, full-time program studied entirely in Sydney. No multi-city rotations. You start and finish in one place, which matters for students who want stability, a proper social life, and time to build a professional network in one city.

How the two years are structured:

  • Year one: Core management subjects covering strategy, leadership, data analysis, and emerging technologies
  • Year two: A specialisation track of your choice, ending in a capstone project built around a real business challenge

Specializations you can choose from:

  • Business Intelligence
  • Marketing Analytics
  • Finance and FinTech
  • Entrepreneurship
  • General Management

One feature worth knowing: SP Jain has integrated its AI-ELT platform across the program. It is a proprietary AI learning tool that adapts to how you study, reinforcing weaker areas and supporting you through the academic workload. Whether you find this appealing or gimmicky will likely depend on how you learn best.

Intake: October 2026 is the inaugural cohort. A September 2026 intake is also referenced on the admissions calendar. Confirm the start date directly at spjain.org before planning your visa timeline.

What You Will Pay

SP Jain has not published the full MoM fee structure separately at the time of writing. Based on the institution's existing postgraduate program fees and third-party education data, indicative tuition for a two-year management program at the Sydney campus ranges from AUD 34,000 to AUD 79,730 (Rs. 23.28 lakh to Rs. 54.59 lakh) for the complete program.

Living costs in Sydney run approximately AUD 22,000 per year, around Rs. 15.07 lakh annually, inclusive of housing, based on SP Jain's own fee documentation for Sydney programs.

Check the confirmed MoM fee directly at spjain.org/programs/postgraduate/master-of-management/fees before making any financial plan.

Currency note: 1 AUD = Rs.68.48 as of May 7, 2026. Always verify the current rate before making financial decisions.

The Post-Study Work Visa: The Honest Version

Graduates of an Australian-accredited postgraduate program at SP Jain Sydney may be eligible to apply for Australia's Post-Study Work visa, subclass 485, after completing their degree.

What the 485 visa gives you:

  • Up to 2 years of open work rights in Australia
  • Work for any employer in any field; no job offer needed to activate it
  • Time to find a role, build local experience, and explore a longer-term sponsored work or migration pathway

Here is what SP Jain's own press release says, word for word:

"While graduating students can apply for a post-study work visa of up to 2 years per the current immigration guidelines, it is not a guaranteed program outcome."

Read that again before you plan your budget around staying in Australia. Whether you qualify for the 485 depends on your visa history, your individual circumstances, and the immigration rules in force at the time you graduate, not when you enroll. Australian immigration policy has shifted more than once in the past three years. Verify your eligibility at the Australian Government's Department of Home Affairs website before committing financially to this pathway.

Who Can Apply and How

Academic requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree from a recognised institution
  • Strong academic record

English proficiency:

Application steps:

  • No application fee
  • Apply online at spjain.org
  • Shortlisted applicants are invited for an interview
  • Admission results within 5 to 7 working days of the interview

Australian student visa:

  • SP Jain assists with documentation but the visa application is entirely your responsibility
  • Factor this into your financial planning well before you apply

Is This the Right Program for You?

The MoM makes strong sense if:

  • You want an Australian-accredited management degree, two full years in Sydney, without campus rotations
  • You are a recent graduate or early-career professional in business, analytics, finance, or entrepreneurship
  • Building post-graduation work experience in Australia is part of your plan
  • A smaller school environment with closer faculty access works better for how you learn

It is probably not the right fit if:

  • You specifically need a degree from a large, publicly ranked Australian university for your target employer or career path
  • Research or academic depth is a priority for your postgraduate study

The Bigger Picture on Post-Study Work in Australia

Regardless of which Australian institution you attend, the 485 visa framework is the same for everyone. Students who studied in regional areas of Australia get longer durations, sometimes 3 to 4 years, but Sydney is a major city, and the standard 2-year duration applies here.

Once on the 485, you have time to find a job that qualifies for employer-sponsored migration. Australia's Skills in Demand visa covers business, analytics, and finance roles, sectors well-matched to an MoM graduate profile. The pathway from 485 to employer sponsorship to long-term residency is real for students who plan it from year one, not those who think about it in their final semester.

One Thing to Keep in Mind Before You Apply

The October 2026 cohort is the first. There is no graduate employment data for this program yet, no alumni network built around the MoM specifically, and no track record to point to. SP Jain's existing Sydney programs and its broader institutional reputation provide some context, but this degree is new.

Going in with that clarity is not a reason to walk away. It is a reason to ask the admissions team sharper questions and make sure the program fits your goals before you sign up.

Book a free session with a Leap Scholar counselor to get an honest comparison of the SP Jain MoM against other Australian management programs at a similar price point and a clear picture of what your post-study work pathway looks like based on your specific profile.
