Queen Mary, London, Is Offering Up to £10,000 in Scholarships for International Master's Students
Tuition fees for international students at most good universities sit anywhere between £18,000 and £30,000 a year. Add London living costs on top of that, and the total number can feel overwhelming before you have even shortlisted a program.
Queen Mary University of London has opened applications for three scholarship tiers for international master's students joining in September 2026, with awards ranging from £5,000 to £10,000 applied directly to tuition fees. Scholarships are allocated on a rolling basis; seats are limited and already being awarded.
Here is everything you need to know.
Why Queen Mary Specifically
Before getting into the numbers, here is why Queen Mary is worth considering in the first place.
It is the only Russell Group university in London with a fully self-contained campus, unlike UCL or King's College, which are spread across multiple buildings across the city.. The Russell Group is the UK's equivalent of the Ivy League, a group of 24 universities recognized for research quality and graduate employability. Cities like Edinburgh, Manchester, and Bristol host most of the other Russell Group universities. Queen Mary is right in the heart of East London, which means you get world-class academic credentials with full access to London's job market, internship ecosystem, and professional network.
Queen Mary is home to more than 32,000 students from over 170 nationalities, ranked 110th in the world according to QS World University Rankings 2026 and 31st in the world for research according to Times Higher Education 2026.
For an Indian student targeting the UK job market after graduation, that combination of research ranking and London location matters more than most people realize.
The Three Scholarships: What Is Available
Queen Mary is not offering one scholarship. It is offering three, each designed for a different academic profile. Here is how they compare:
Scholarship | Value (GBP) | Value (INR approx.) | Who It Is For | Seats Available |
| President's Global Scholarship | £10,000 | Rs.12,57,100 | Highly qualified applicants, typically with a first-class degree equivalent | Up to 20 awards |
| Global Excellence Scholarship | £7,000 | Rs.8,79,970 | High-achieving international offer holders | Limited, merit-based |
| Global Talent Scholarship | £5,000 | Rs.6,28,550 | All international offer holders with minimum 2:1 equivalent | Multiple awards |
(Exchange rate used: 1 GBP = Rs.125.71 as of March 26, 2026.)
The important thing to notice here is the breadth. Most universities offer one or two prestigious scholarships with very few seats that most applicants do not qualify for. Queen Mary is offering multiple seats at the £5,000 level alone. That is a genuinely wide net for Indian students who hold a respectable undergraduate degree.
The President's Global Scholarship: £10,000
This is the top-tier award and the one that makes the biggest dent in your tuition.
Queen Mary University of London is proud to introduce the President's Global Scholarships, offering £10,000 to highly qualified postgraduate taught course holders joining in September 2026.
It is a merit-based award aimed at applicants who hold an unconditional offer and demonstrate strong academic excellence, typically a first-class degree or equivalent. Awardees are expected to act as international student ambassadors and support university promotional activities. Applicants must have achieved their first-class degree (or equivalent) by March 31, 2026
The application deadline for the President's Global Scholarship is April 17, 2026. Outcomes will be communicated by the end of May 2026.
At the current exchange rate, £10,000 converts to approximately Rs.12.57 lakh. For most Master's programs in the UK, that covers a significant portion of your first year's tuition. It does not make the degree free, but it changes the financial equation in a real way.
If you have a strong academic record, a first-class equivalent CGP, this is what you should aim for.
The Global Excellence Scholarship: £7,000
Think of this as the middle tier. A slightly lower value than the President's award, but with an important bonus attached to it.
Worth £7,000, the Global Excellence Scholarship is available to high-achieving international applicants holding an offer for an eligible postgraduate taught program at Queen Mary, reflecting the university's commitment to academic excellence and to supporting talented students from around the world.
Here is the part worth underlining: if you have already been awarded a Global Talent Scholarship, you will automatically be considered for the Global Excellence Scholarship and notified of an outcome if successful. You do not need to submit a new application. To be considered, applicants must hold or be on course to achieve a first-class degree or equivalent, a higher bar than the Global Talent Scholarship's 2:1 requirement
So if you apply early and get the £5,000 Global Talent Scholarship, Queen Mary automatically reviews you for the £7,000 award. No extra paperwork. No separate application. Just apply early for the one you qualify for, and let the process do the rest.
The Global Talent Scholarship: £5,000 Across multiple Seats
This award is the one most Indian students will qualify for, and honestly, it is the most exciting one from a scale perspective.
Queen Mary University of London is delighted to offer Global Talent Scholarships worth £5,000 for high-achieving postgraduate taught offer holders joining in September 2026/27. The scholarship is available to all international students with an offer for an eligible postgraduate taught program who achieve a minimum 2:1 honors degree or overseas equivalent, hold an offer for an eligible postgraduate taught program for September 2026/27, and have overseas fee status.
The relatively low eligibility bar, a 2:1 equivalent degree, makes this scholarship the most accessible of Queen Mary's three 2026 scholarship tiers. A few conditions to keep in mind before you apply:
You must be enrolled in a full-time Master's program. You cannot receive another Queen Mary scholarship, tuition fee discount, or scholarship from any other source.
The scholarship will only be confirmed once your admissions status is 'Unconditional Firm' (UF); having an offer is not enough. You must have formally accepted it
You must be fully self-funded. Pre-Masters programs are not included in the scheme. If awarded, the scholarship will be deducted directly from tuition fees payable to the university.
The deduction from tuition fees is important. This amount is not cash in your hand. It comes off your tuition bill directly when you enroll.
Check This Before You Apply
Not every program at Queen Mary qualifies. A handful are excluded, and it is worth checking before you invest time in an application.
Ineligible programs include MSc Artificial Intelligence, MSc Data Science, MSc Computer Science (Conversion), MSc Economics, MSc Psychology (Conversion), all DClinDent programs, MSc Gastroenterology, MSc Genomic Medicine (HEE Funded), MSc Global Public Health and Policy, distance learning programs, MRes programs, pre-Master's programs, and PG Diploma and Certificate programs. Check your specific program against the full list on the Queen Mary scholarships database before doing anything else.
Scholarship | Value in GBP | Approx. Value in INR |
| Global Talent Scholarship | £5,000 | Rs.6,28,550 |
| Global Excellence Scholarship | £7,000 | Rs.8,79,970 |
| President's Global Scholarship | £10,000 | Rs.12,57,100 |
How the Application Works
The process is simple, but the timing is what most students get wrong.
Once you have applied for a Master's program at Queen Mary and received an offer, you will need to complete a scholarship application form. An invitation link will be emailed to you directly. The Global Talent and Global Excellence Scholarships are allocated on a rolling basis, apply as soon as you receive your offer. The President's Global Scholarship has a fixed deadline of April 17, 2026. Do not treat all three as open-ended.
Step one is getting your Master's application submitted. Step two is responding to the scholarship invitation the moment it lands in your inbox. Scholarships are already being allocated. Every week you wait is a week someone else is using it to secure one of those 700 seats.

Three Things to Do Right Now
1. Get your Master's application in. Scholarship invitations only go out after you receive an offer. The earlier your offer, the earlier you can apply for the scholarship. Everything else follows from this process.
2. If your degree is first-class equivalent, go for the President's Scholarship. The £10,000 award is merit-based and requires a strong academic profile. If that describes you, aim for the top tier, not just the most accessible one. Apply before April 17, 2026.
3. Check your program eligibility today. A few popular programs are excluded. Verify yours against the official list before you begin. It takes two minutes and removes any uncertainty about whether you qualify.
