Bournemouth University is ranked 295th out of 958 institutions in the QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026. Despite an additional 291 institutions being added to the rankings since last year, BU has retained and improved its place in the top 300.

Fees: The Honest Numbers

Overseas fees for September 2026 and January 2027 entry for taught master's programs range from 18,900 GBP to 23,000 GBP for full-time study.

  • 18,900 GBP: Rs.24.1 lakh per year
  • 23,000 GBP: Rs.29.4 lakh per year

For undergraduate programs, annual full-time tuition fees for international students in 2026 and 2027 range from 19,635 GBP to 24,150 GBP, approximately Rs.25.1 lakh to Rs.30.9 lakh per year.

Important note for Indian students from Haryana and Punjab:

For 2026 and 2027 UG and PG entry, the deposit is 8,000 GBP for students from the Haryana and Punjab regions of India and 5,000 GBP for students from all other countries and regions. Deposits are non-refundable except in specific circumstances.

At current rates, that is approximately Rs.10.2 lakh for Haryana and Punjab students and Rs.6.4 lakh for all other Indian students. Factor this into your financial planning before you apply.

Scholarships Available for Indian Students

BU offers direct financial support for international students worth checking carefully before you apply.

Postgraduate international students may be eligible for:

  • The £4,500 Academic Excellence Scholarship for January 2026, September 2026, or January 2027 entry, based on academic achievement, approximately ₹5.75 lakh at current rates
  • The £2,000 Academic Achievement Scholarship for the same entry points, approximately ₹2.56 lakh at current rates

Undergraduate international students may be eligible for:

  • The £2,500 Academic Excellence Scholarship for September 2026 or January 2027 entry, for applicants achieving ABB or above (or equivalent), is approximately ₹3.19 lakh at current rates

None of these scholarships require a separate competitive application. Indian students require a minimum Upper Second Class (2:1) honors degree or equivalent. Check the full criteria at bournemouth.ac.uk/scholarships before submitting your program application. 

Entry Requirements for Indian Students

Postgraduate:

  • Indian Bachelor's Honours degree from a recognised institution with a minimum of 55 to 60 percent overall depending on the university attended
  • IELTS Academic: overall 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component
  • Some courses require a higher IELTS score; check individual course pages

Undergraduate:

  • Equivalent of ABB or BBC at A-Level depending on the program
  • Approximately 60 to 70 percent aggregate in 10 plus 2 for most courses
  • IELTS Academic: overall 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component

Key Application Deadlines

Undergraduate (September 2026 entry):

  • UCAS main deadline: January 29, 2026 , has passed for most programs
  • UCAS Extra and Clearing: Open now for remaining course vacancies; apply immediately if you missed the main deadline
  • UCAS deadline for 2027 entry: Opens September 2026

Postgraduate (September 2026 entry):

  • Rolling admissions: No fixed deadline but offers are made as applications arrive; the longer you wait, the fewer places remain
  • Apply immediately for September 2026 intake; this intake is in its final admissions phase
  • Deposit deadline: Must be paid within the timeline stated in your offer letter to secure your place

Postgraduate (January 2027 entry):

  • Applications are currently open and this intake is significantly less competitive than September
  • Rolling admissions apply; apply early for the strongest chance of receiving an offer with sufficient time for visa processing

Important for all international students:

  • From January 2025, all applicants with overseas fee status are required to pay a deposit as part of their tuition fees when accepting an offer
  • The deposit secures your place and must be paid before your visa application can proceed
