Everything Indian Students Need to Know About Warwick’s Global Excellence Scholarship
If you are an Indian student dreaming of studying in the UK, you have probably looked at tuition fees and thought, this is going to burn a hole the size of a cricket stadium in my pocket. And that is exactly why the University of Warwick has created the Warwick Undergraduate Global Excellence Scholarship. It is designed for talented students who have big ambitions but do not want finances to stop them from aiming high.
Warwick has always believed that brilliance should never be limited by money. Their scholarship programme makes it easier for international students to chase their academic goals at one of the most respected universities in the UK. In short, it is Warwick’s way of saying, if you have the talent, we will help you get here.
What Does the Scholarship Offer
In 2025, Warwick offered awards at different levels, which gives you a good idea of how generous this programme really is.
- 6 full tuition fee awards
- 148 half tuition fee awards
- 103 awards covering 25 percent of the tuition fees
- 6 awards of £2000 in financial support
No matter which one you receive, each of these can significantly reduce the cost of studying abroad.
Who Can Apply?
Now for the important details. Here is what makes you eligible.
- You must be self-funded. This includes paying through savings, family support or even a student loan.
- You must be an overseas or international fee-paying student.
- You must apply for a full-time undergraduate programme at Warwick starting in Autumn 2026. This includes most subjects except the MBChB Medicine course.
- You must submit your scholarship application by 12 pm GMT on 27 February 2026.
- By 13 May 2026, you should have received an offer for your chosen Warwick course.
And here is something many students in India often ask. Do you need to wait for your Warwick offer before applying for the scholarship? Not at all. As soon as your UCAS application is submitted, you can apply for the scholarship. Applying early does not affect your admission chances in any way.
How Warwick Defines Self-Funded
If you or your family or friends are covering your fees, or if you take a student loan, you count as self-funded. But if your employer pays your fees or if you receive an external scholarship or grant, then you are not self-funded.
Indian students often get confused here, especially if they plan to use an Indian bank loan. Do not worry, bank loans count as self-funded.
