One quiet place I absolutely love visiting is Manali in winters. Especially the stretch around Old Manali and the road that leads towards Sulangwali after a fresh snowfall. As soon as the tourist crowds thin out in January or February, the whole town becomes magically silent. Blanketed in thick soft snow that seems to swallow every sound. I usually stay in a small wooden cottage in Old Manali and early in the morning I walk up the narrow pine covered path behind the village. There's hardly anyone around, just the occasional creak of snow under my boots and gentle hiss of the Beas river far below. The air is crisp and smells of pine and wood smoke from distant chimneys. Sometimes the only movement is a lone magic hoping from branch to branch or tiny snowflakes drifting down without a sound. My favourite spot is a little clearing halfway up the hill where there's an old stone bench facing the snow capped peaks.

Moreover, knowing the history of India and Kolkata is something that I have wanted to do since a long time. I haven't really got the chance because of my hectic schedule and due to studying subjects like law which takes most of my time. The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the words a quiet place is a farm that my family owns back in the countryside just about 100 km from the place I live. So the main reason why I consider or say that this is a very quiet place is because when you step inside the farm in the middle of it there is almost no sounds of traffic or people screaming or heavy machinery working because this is amidst dense forest and shrub cover. So there is almost no possibility of hearing the general huzzle and bustle of the city or the city life. It's certainly one of the most serene places I have ever visited in my life and the moment you come inside or step in there you instantly have a clear mindset and you are able to breathe better and your mind is calmer and you can sit back and relax and have a good time. I always prefer visiting my farm whenever time permits but usually I would visit there whenever my cousins get together or my family gets together.

Follow up questions

What activities do you enjoy doing at the farm?
At the farm, I love engaging in various activities such as gardening, fishing in the nearby pond, and simply enjoying nature. Sometimes, we have family barbecues or play outdoor games, which adds to the fun and relaxation of the experience.

How often do you visit this quiet place?
I try to visit the farm as often as I can, especially during weekends or holidays. However, I usually go there more frequently when my family gathers, as it becomes a special occasion for all of us to reconnect and enjoy the tranquility together.

Why do you think quiet places are important?
Quiet places are essential for mental well-being. They provide a break from the chaos of daily life, allowing us to recharge and reflect. Being in a serene environment helps reduce stress and enhances our ability to think clearly and creatively.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

A quiet place I would really love to visit again is Manali, a beautiful hill station nestled in the Himalayas in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. I first visited it during my college industrial visit and ever since then I wanted to go back, but this time not as a tourist with a group, but alone just to enjoy its peace and natural beauty. What makes Manali truly special is its tranquil atmosphere. Even though it's a popular tourist spot, there are certain corners like the old Manali village where you can experience absolute calm. I remember walking along the Beas river and hearing nothing but the sound of flowing water and rustling trees. The air was crisp and refreshing. The entire place has this magical sense of calm that you rarely find in Lavi Mumbai. If I get a chance to go there again, I'd love to spend my mornings watching the sunrise over the mountains and evenings sipping hot coffee in a cafe overlooking the valley. I'd probably try some yoga or journaling sessions because the peaceful environment would be perfect for self-reflection. I think what draws me to Manali is that it feels like a complete escape from the noise and constant rush of city life. It's a place where I can slow down, reconnect with myself and simply breathe in the beauty of nature. For me, Manali isn't just a destination, it's a state of calmness and clarity that I always crave. I believe if I had a chance to go there right now, I would just pack up my things, take up the bus and reach there as soon as possible. This is one of my favourite destination places that I've travelled to and this is where I would like to be if I want to find some peace and calm in my life and reconnect back with nature.

The place I would like to go to is Hampi. One might think that Hampi is very busy with lot of tourists but there are a few places that are very quiet and serene. I don't remember exactly the name of the temple but it is an old ruined temple and the stone pillars, the beautifully carved temple is so peaceful that I would love to meditate in such a place. Even though the temperature is very high and the sun is very harsh, if one goes into that temple it will be so peaceful and apart from that the sunsets there, rivers and various natural features embrace the principles of biophilia so well and the temples complement it as well. So, that is a place that I would love to go to apart from just meditation and looking at the natural elements of the place. One thing about Hampi is that it is a natural encyclopedia. So, every time I go to a temple, I wonder how details are done. So, a smallest detail from etching a small piece of stone to the entire building in itself, like how pillars are supported, how the slab rests on the pillar is also beautifully done and intricate that every time I go, I have something new to learn there. So, one more thing is that the panels outside the temple are etched according to the age group. The lower band has animals where kids can see and then there are human activities which are at the level of an adult, of a teenager and then there are gods above all of them. So, every detail teaches a lot and there is a lot of things to explore everywhere.

Today I am talking about Thiruvananthapuram. It is a capital of Kerala. I have visited this city a long time ago. It is one of the most beautiful city in Kerala. I think in all over the world it is very clean and gives a fresh air to us. When I travel through Thiruvananthapuram, I feel a sense of safety and comfort in this place. It is one of the city covered with lush green with a modern style. I would recommend anyone to come here and visit this city. The people here are very friendly and nice to us. One of the tourist spots in the city is a museum where families come together and spend a lot of time there. Another is Padmanabha temple which is one of the wealthiest temple in the world. The other thing is the IT hub. There are so many dams, hill stations and beaches in Thiruvananthapuram. One of the most beautiful beaches in Thiruvananthapuram is Anjuthanga beach. When I visited Anjuthanga beach, I felt a calm sensation all over my body and I felt very safe in there.
