Well, recently, I went to this backpacking trip to Uttarakhand, a state which is located in the northern part of India. And I went to this beautiful and serene landscape of Mussoorie. It was a British vacation destination. And now, Government of India has turned it into a hill station. I didn't come across many foreigners, so I would like to recommend this to all the indigenous people of my country as well as the people who are coming from out of India. Well, there are loads and loads of things to do in there. Like, you can go to Landoor and meet the beloved author Ruskin Bond or you can hang out in a beautiful 200-year-old cafe called Landoor Bakehouse and try their lemon tart. Or if you want to understand the culture of a certain region, then you may go to the settlements of the Tibetan Buddhists who, after the war with China, shifted to the northern part of India and one of the small settlement is present in the outskirts of Mussoorie as well. One can also take a walk down the lane to the mall road where one can see the dilapidated but beautifully structured Mussoorie Library. So if you are a fan of old-style architecture, then you must visit Mussoorie Library.

I would recommend any first-time visitor to explore Rishikesh. Rishikesh is the yoga capital of our country and it is situated close to my hometown itself. Being situated at the foothills of Himalayas, it acts as a base camp for all further expeditions and explorations into Himalayan territory offering different trekking routes and camping opportunities on top. Apart from these, people also get to indulge in the spiritual side which involves a lot of yoga schools, devotional offerings and beautiful and prestigious Ganga river passing through it. Moreover, personally Rishikesh holds a very cherished part in my memory because since childhood I had multiple opportunities to explore it being close to my home and I derive a lot of life lessons from my visits to this place. Initially, it presented a thrilling adventure of all the adventure sports that are being practiced here. As I grew older, I admired and acknowledged the presence of river Ganga and the pristine and sense of relief it offers to you which is absolutely immaculate.

Follow up questions

What activities can visitors do in Rishikesh besides yoga?
Visitors can engage in various adventure sports such as white-water rafting, trekking, and camping. The scenic beauty also allows for photography and nature walks. Additionally, there are opportunities for cultural experiences, such as attending Ganga Aarti ceremonies.

How has Rishikesh changed over the years?
Rishikesh has seen significant development in tourism infrastructure, with more yoga schools, hotels, and adventure sports facilities. However, it has also faced challenges like environmental concerns due to increased visitor numbers, prompting efforts to maintain its natural beauty.

What makes Rishikesh special for you personally?
Rishikesh holds a special place in my heart due to my childhood memories of exploring its beauty. The lessons I've learned from its serene environment and the spiritual experiences I've had there have shaped my perspective on life and well-being.

One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

A place in my country that I would really recommend the visitors or travelers is my city Pune. It's based in Maharashtra, state of Maharashtra and it is one of the biggest cities in Maharashtra. It has big IT hubs and I guess it balances the modern culture as well as the Indian culture. It has huge IT parks, huge buildings but on the other hand it also has forts. My city has very rich heritage culture. Since Shivaji Maharaj ruled this place, we really look up to him. Shiv Jayanti is one of the biggest festivals that is celebrated in Pune. Other than Shiv Jayanti, Ganesh Chaturthi is also one of the biggest festivals to come and have a look at. It's a 10-day ritual and the Pune itself turns into a very mesmerizing city. It's a great place to be at during that time. Other than that, food is one of the greatest food you'll have in India. You can try authentic Maharashtrian food, Pujan Poli, Okritsa Modak etc and one of the greatest and one of the most famous places in Pune is Dagrushet Halwai Ganpati. It is said that whatever you wish for at this Ganpati comes true and it is known as Manasa Ganpati. You can come here, you can wish for something and it will definitely come true. The crowd goes crazy during the Ganesh Chaturthi when Dagrushet Halwai comes to the stage. Within that, Pune has a very great climate, very great culture, not too cold, not too hot. You can always go out at night. You have a very great nightlife here that you can explore.

The place I will always recommend to anyone visiting India is Srinagar in Kashmir, especially the area around the Dal Lake. I travelled there with a group of my friends a while ago in February and that trip shaped the way I think about natural beauty. We stayed in a place that looked directly over the lake because of my friend's father who is a CRPF officer arranged the accommodation for us. Waking up to that view felt almost unreal. It was such a surreal view I can't even justify with my words. The water was still, the mountain looked close enough to touch and the whole atmosphere had a quiet charm. The windows with all that mist and that coldness in the environment, it was just a wow experience. What I remember most clearly is cycling around that road, cycling around that circle of lake. It was simple activity but the experience is unforgettable. The fresh air, the surrounding, the peaceful surrounding, the scenery changed slightly as you move along the path. At one point you will see the floating gardens and a little further above you will catch the reflection of that water and all the water sports the people are doing. It is kind of moment you will feel completely present. We also took a ride, that is Shikara ride, visited few local markets and tried some Kashmiri dish. Even felt calm, unhurried when everything is different from the cities in India. There is a sense of stillness, there is a sense of being present. I recommend Srinagar because it is offered a mix of beauty, culture.

A place that I would recommend a visitor or a traveler is Hampi. It is located in Karnataka. It is known for its ruins and rich heritage culture. I visited Hampi when I was in college. Back in those days, I made a visit to Hampi during December season and December month and I find it a very beautiful and peaceful city. I think every visitor should witness the rich heritage culture that the city holds. They have a unique musical event where they make music using the façade of the monuments and it's really very peaceful and pretty to witness that. I find it serene and soul-refreshing. Moreover, the people are warm and welcoming to tourists and on top of that the food is delicious.

One place that I would definitely recommend any visitors that are coming to India, which is my country, to visit is Pondicherry. Lying in the heart of Tamil Nadu, it is a Union Territory which is located in the east of Tamil Nadu, aligning to the Arabian Sea. Now, why that place is very special is because of its exquisite beauty and its range of beaches and infrastructure that you see around. Built in the time of French, it has entire colony dedicated and named as French Colony, which is just ashore to the rock beach. One of the main highlights is the Auroville Ashram that is situated in Pondicherry. It serves as the main attraction. Along with that, Pondicherry is also famous for its seafood, its shopping and its cheap liquor. And it's also very famous for its deserts and French cuisines that are available. It is a place that you would most likely want to go with friends. Renting a scooty there is pretty much easy and you can roam around the city without much delay and enjoy your time there.

One place in India that I'd highly recommend to any traveler is Rishikesh, a small spiritual town located in the northern state of Uttarakhand. It sits right on the banks of river Ganga, surrounded by the foothills of the Himalayas. And it's honestly one of the most peaceful yet adventurous places I've ever been to. Rishikesh is known as the yoga capital of the world, so people from all over the world come here to learn yoga and meditation. There are dozens of ashrams, wellness retreats, and small villages where visitors can practice mindfulness and take part in traditional Indian healing therapies like Ayurveda, Siddha, and such. But what makes it truly special is that it's also a hub for adventure sports. You can go whitewater rafting, bungee jumping, or even trek to nearby waterfalls. It's a perfect blend of spirituality and thrill. Personally what I love most about Rishikesh is the atmosphere. Every evening the town gathers on the riverbank for Ganga Aarti, a beautiful ceremony with chanting, lamps, and music. Watching the reflection of the fire on the water feels almost magical. It sort of relaxes and enlightens people as well. The locals are incredibly welcoming and there's a strong sense of calm and community wherever you would go. I'd recommend Rishikesh to visitors because it captures the essence of India, the mix of spirituality, culture, nature, and adventure all comes together. Whether someone is looking to relax, reflect, or explore, this place offers something unique for everyone. It's one of those destinations that stays with you long after you're left.

I am an Indian. As a nature lover, I would recommend Nanda Devi National Park or as it is called Valley of Flowers to travellers like me. It has rich flora and fauna. It's in the Himalayan sector of North India. There is a straight access to Govind Ghat and from there the trek of this valley starts. It was discovered accidentally by three British mountaineers while finding the way. Travellers can find here peace. It's a very peaceful place and I have read a lot about it. So I visited it two years ago. You can see many species of animals and plants. It's like a treasure for botanists and photographers and travellers, nature lovers. I really enjoyed it. It's a very soothing, calm and peaceful place. There is a hush and if you want to take a break from the world, you should really visit it.

I would like to talk about Jaipur, also known as the pink city of India. It is one of the most beautiful and culturally rich cities in Rajasthan. Jaipur is located in the northern part of India, about 280 km from Delhi, the capital city. It is a major tourist destination and part of India's famous Golden Triangle, along the Delhi and Agra. I visited Jaipur last year during my winter vacation with my family. The weather was pleasant, which made our trip even more enjoyable. There are many things to do in Jaipur. Visitors can explore the historical forts like Amber Fort, Nagra Fort and Jaigra Fort. The city palace and Hawa Mahal are a must-visit attraction for their unique architecture. Travellers can also enjoy traditional Rajasthan food, a shop for colourful handicrafts and jewellery in Jori Bazaar and others Bazaar, and experience the local culture through folk dance and camel rides. I recommend Jaipur because it offers a perfect mix of history and art, culture and hospitality. The city architecture is stunning and the people are very friendly. It gives a real taste to visitors of India's royal heritage and vibrant tradition. Every corner of Jaipur feels like stepping into the pages of history.
