The Edinburgh Napier University ranking has moved in different directions depending on the table, so reading any single year in isolation is misleading.

Two honest takeaways: 

First, the Complete University Guide is the clearest good-news story: Napier was the biggest climber in Scotland in the 2027 edition, rising 15 places to 81st and ranking as the third most improved modern university in the whole UK. 

Second, the Guardian table moved the other way, slipping from 73rd to 92nd over three years. Both are true at once.

My insight: Times Higher Education changed its world-ranking methodology in 2024, which widened bands and reshuffled hundreds of universities. So Napier appearing to "fall" from the 400s to the 601-800 band is partly a scoring change, not a collapse in quality. When a family panics about a THE drop, this is usually the reason. My insight: Two things trip students up here. First, the number of awards is limited, so an offer does not guarantee the scholarship. Second, if you already hold discounted partner-university fees or another scholarship, you are not eligible. Plan your finances as if you might not receive it, and treat it as a bonus if it appears on your CAS.

Universities can issue a conditional offer without your final degree, but your CAS and visa cannot proceed until results are out.
