King’s College London Acceptance Rate: What KCL Publishes and Why Online Figures Differ
The King’s College London acceptance rate is not published as one number. KCL releases applications, offers, acceptances and enrolments for each course, split into UK and non-UK applicants, in faculty-wise admissions statistics covering five years. Only China is shown as a separate non-UK country, so there is no India-only figure.
Three terms matter when you read KCL’s tables:
- Offers: applications that received an offer.
- Acceptances: applicants who met every condition and confirmed the place (KCL counts unconditional firm acceptances).
- Enrolments: acceptances of those who actually joined the course.

Percentages quoted on other websites often mix undergraduate and postgraduate data, UK and overseas applicants, and different years. That is why two pages can give two different answers. In this guide, "offer rate" means offers divided by applications, and "firm acceptance share" means firm acceptances divided by applications. Both use KCL's own tables for the latest published cycles: the 2024 UCAS cycle for undergraduate courses and 2024/25 for postgraduate courses.
Counselor insight: Each course choice counts as one application, and a UCAS applicant can list five choices. A figure such as 2,861 applications for one course is a count of choices, not 2,861 separate students. Read the offer rate as "how often an application received an offer", not "your chance of getting in." KCL sits among the Russell Group universities in the UK, so competition is high in popular courses.
King's College London Acceptance Rate by Course for Undergraduates: Business, Economics, Biomedical, English and Dentistry

Is the King's College London business acceptance rate lower than economics?
On offer rate, yes. Non-UK BSc Business Management applications received offers 13% of the time, against 42% for BSc Economics and 29% for BSc Economics and Management. Business also draws the most applications of any course in the table, which explains the low firm acceptance share of 2.5%. If you are comparing business routes, read our guide to business management courses in the UK.
What is the King's College London acceptance rate for dentistry and medicine?
Non-UK offers were rare: 16 offers on 155 BDS Dentistry applications and 153 offers on 829 MBBS applications. Medicine and Dentistry also carry an earlier UCAS deadline, 15 October, so the 2027-entry deadline for other courses does not apply to them.
Our guide to dentistry in the UK covers the route in detail.
Counselor insight: Biomedical Science and Biochemistry show offer rates above 80%, but firm acceptance shares of 13.9% and 11.5% show that many offers are not converted. Offers are conditional on final results, so students often hold several. Do not treat a high offer rate as a safe choice. The course still needs to fit your Class 12 subject combination.
King’s College London Acceptance Rate for Masters
The King's College London acceptance rate for masters also varies sharply by course. This table covers non-UK applicants for 2024/25 entry.
| Course (non-UK, 2024/25) | Applications | Offers | Offer rate | Firm acceptances | Firm acceptance share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MSc Data Science | 734 | 229 | 31% | 53 | 7.2% |
| MSc Artificial Intelligence | 552 | 189 | 34% | 31 | 5.6% |
| MSc Economics and Policy | 479 | 189 | 39% | 47 | 9.8% |
| MSc Economics and Finance | 730 | 507 | 69% | 137 | 18.8% |
| MSc Banking and Finance | 1,002 | 774 | 77% | 217 | 21.7% |
| MSc Finance (Corporate Finance) | 789 | 429 | 54% | 105 | 13.3% |
| MSc International Management | 1,568 | 190 | 12% | 50 | 3.2% |
| MSc Digital Marketing | 959 | 180 | 19% | 70 | 7.3% |
| MA International Political Economy | 553 | 360 | 65% | 93 | 16.8% |
| MSc Electronic Engineering | 533 | 323 | 61% | 40 | 7.5% |

Read the postgraduate rows with one caveat. KCL separates China from other non-UK countries, and Chinese applications are a large share of the non-UK total: 51% in MSc Data Science (376 of 734), 53% in MSc Artificial Intelligence, 65% in MSc Banking and Finance, 67% in MSc Economics and Finance, 73% in MSc Economics and Policy and 94% in MSc Electronic Engineering with Management (500 of 533). In MSc International Management it is 33%. For many courses, the non-UK offer rate therefore says more about Chinese applicants than about Indian ones.
Counselor insight: India has no separate row, so use these tables to compare how crowded courses are, not to predict your own outcome. KCL's India guidance says the most competitive courses are in the Department of Management, the Faculty of Law and Culture, Media & Creative Industries usually only make offers to applicants from universities KCL considers prestigious, usually with 65% or higher.
How selective is the King's College London MSc Data Science acceptance rate?
The non-UK offer rate was 31%, with a 7.2% firm acceptance share. KCL asks for a high 2:1 degree, with a minimum of 65% or the international equivalent, in computer science or a related quantitative subject, plus programming ability. Its entry requirements page also says the program uses a partial "gathered-field" approach: some decisions may come after February, and KCL aims to decide by May.
Read our guide to MSc Data Science in the UK before you shortlist.
For economics, MSc Economics and Policy had a 39% offer rate, while MSc Economics and Finance had 69%.
Our guide to Masters in Economics in the UK compares other options.
Counselor insight: Two courses with similar names can sit at opposite ends of this table. MSc International Management had a 12% offer rate, while MSc Banking and Finance had 77%. If your profile fits both, applying to the course with the higher offer rate is a course-fit decision, not a shortcut, because admissions teams read the statement against that course's content.
King’s College London Acceptance Rate and Entry Requirements for Indian Applicants
For Indian high-school qualifications, KCL accepts only the Indian High School Leaving Certificate from CBSE or CISCE, according to its India and South Asia page. Undergraduate applications go through UCAS. Postgraduate applications go through the King's Apply portal.
| Document or requirement | India-specific detail | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Class 12 certificate | CBSE or CISCE only. Open your course page, go to Entry Requirements, International Applicants, and select India. | Undergraduate |
| Bachelor's degree transcripts and certificate | Percentage or CGPA as shown on your marksheet. KCL's PG guidance for India asks for an average of 60% (2:1) or 65% (high 2:1) from highly prestigious Indian universities, 63% or 67% from prestigious ones, and 65% or 70% from other recognised ones. Percentage is used ahead of GPA. MSc Data Science needs a high 2:1 (minimum 65% UK equivalent). Use our tool to convert CGPA to percentage. | Postgraduate |
| Provisional certificate | Final-year students upload current transcripts and add the final marksheet when issued. | Postgraduate |
| Translations | Documents not in English need the original and an official translation. | Both |
| English language evidence | Check KCL's English language requirements. The test and score depend on the course. | Both |
| Statement and CV | UCAS personal statement for undergraduates. A CV is optional for MSc Data Science. | Both |

Does King's College London accept BTEC?
Most undergraduate courses consider BTEC, except for Medicine and Dentistry. KCL's undergraduate entry requirements say most programs need a BTEC alongside one or two A-levels, usually with Distinctions. BTEC Nationals and BTEC International carry the same requirements. If A-levels are required and none are declared, the application is rejected, which wastes one of your five UCAS choices.
How do I contact King's College London admissions?
Prospective students can call +44 (0)20 7848 7000 or email newstudents@kcl.ac.uk, as listed on KCL's contact page. Replace the + with your country's exit code, which is normally 00. Offer holders should use the King's Apply messaging service for their admissions team.
Counselor insight: A document mismatch is easiest to fix before you pay. A state board certificate, for example, does not meet KCL's undergraduate rule for Indian school qualifications. Check the India dropdown on the exact course page before paying a UCAS fee. If your qualification is not listed, email the King's Advisors before applying.
Which King’s College London Acceptance Rate Applies to You?
If you are a final-year BTech Computer Science student graduating in May 2027 and want MSc Data Science, the relevant figures are a 31% non-UK offer rate and a 7.2% firm acceptance share. A high 2:1 means 65% from highly prestigious Indian universities, 67% from prestigious ones and 70% from other recognised ones, so check which tier your university sits in. Convert your CGPA to a percentage and apply early, because some decisions are made after February.
If you are a CBSE Class 12 student with board results due around May 2027 and want BSc Economics, the figure to use is the 42% non-UK offer rate, with 4.5% firm acceptances. Apply through UCAS by 13 January 2027. Your offer will be conditional on final marks, so predicted marks and subjects matter.
If you are a BCom or BBA graduate choosing between MSc Banking and Finance and MSc International Management, the offer rates are 77% and 12%. Pick by career goal and statement fit, because the firm acceptance shares (21.7% and 3.2%) show strong competition for places in both.

Counselor insight: Class 12 board results usually arrive after your UCAS offer, so your offer will carry conditions. Keep your marksheet scans ready in May. Starting document collection only after results leaves little time before acceptance deadlines.
What to Do When the King’s College London Acceptance Rate Works Against You
If an undergraduate application is rejected, your other UCAS choices are still live. Build the list so that the five choices have different entry demands, and check the offer rates of similar courses at other universities, including UK universities with high acceptance rates.
If a postgraduate decision is delayed, check whether the course uses a gathered-field approach. MSc Data Science may not decide until after February. Once you hold an offer, message your admissions team through King's Apply. Before an offer, email newstudents@kcl.ac.uk.
If you miss the 13 January UCAS deadline, universities do not have to consider late applications, but they can if places remain, according to UCAS. Ask the King's Advisors whether your course is still open.
If you missed the Medicine or Dentistry deadline, plan for the following cycle. KCL requires an aptitude test before you apply for these courses, so book it early.
If your percentage falls below the stated minimum, do not apply hoping for an exception. Choose a course whose requirement you meet or strengthen your profile first.
King's College London Acceptance Rate vs Cost: Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Indian Postgraduates
KCL's Vice-Chancellor's Awards for 2026-27 offered up to 40 awards of £5,000 (Rs.6,40,000) as a fee reduction. They were open to India-domiciled students starting a first full-time, on-campus postgraduate degree in September 2026 in eligible faculties. KCL advised applying for your course by 25 April 2026 so a decision came before the 31 May 2026 award deadline. Offer holders were then invited to answer short questions, which faculties reviewed alongside academic credentials. KCL announced the round in February 2026.
KCL's funding page lists the 2026-27 round as closed, and we found no 2027-28 page when we searched on 23 October 2026. The award has changed each year: £10,000 for up to 30 students in 2024-25, and £5,000 for up to 40 students in 2026-27. The 2026-27 terms also required you to have accepted your offer by 31 May 2026. Treat any value or date for 2027 as unconfirmed until KCL publishes it.
Compare other funding in our guide to scholarships for Masters in the UK.
Exchange rate used: Rs.128 per £1. Verify the current rate before finalising your budget.
Counselor insight: Because awards are tied to receiving an offer, applying early improves your odds of having an offer in hand before the award deadline. Waiting for results before applying leaves little room for the award steps.

Frequently Asked Questions About King’s College London Acceptance Rate
-
What is the King's College London acceptance rate?
KCL does not publish one overall figure. It publishes applications, offers, acceptances, and enrollments course by course, split between UK and non-UK applicants. For the 2024 UCAS cycle, non-UK offer rates ranged from 13% for BSc Business Management to 85% for BSc Biochemistry, so the King's College London acceptance rate depends heavily on your course.
-
Is King's College London hard to get into?
Difficulty depends on the course. Among non-UK applicants in 2024, BSc Business Management offers went to 13% of applications and BDS Dentistry to 10%, while BSc Biochemistry reached 85%. Firm acceptance shares across the listed courses ran from 2.5% to 13.9% of applications, so competition is real even where offer rates look high.
-
What is the King's College London acceptance rate for Indian students?
An India-only King's College London acceptance rate does not exist in KCL's data. Its statistics split applicants into UK and non-UK, and only China is shown separately. Non-UK data is the closest proxy and includes India among many countries. Use it to judge how competitive a course is, not as a prediction for your own application.
-
What is the King's College London acceptance rate for masters and international students?
Postgraduate taught courses showed non-UK offer rates from 12% for MSc International Management to 77% for MSc Banking and Finance in 2024/25, among the courses we checked. MSc Data Science stood at 31%. These figures divide offers by applications, so they describe applications, not individual students.
-
What percentage do I need for King's College London as an Indian student?
For an MSc in Data Science, KCL asks for a high 2:1 degree, a minimum of 65% or the international equivalent, in computer science or a quantitative subject. Requirements differ by course, so open your course page, choose India under international qualifications, and check the equivalent. For undergraduate entry, KCL accepts only CBSE or CISCE Class 12 from Indian schools.
-
Does King's College London accept BTEC?
Most undergraduate courses consider BTEC, except for Medicine and Dentistry. KCL says most programs need a BTEC alongside one or two A-levels, usually with Distinctions. BTEC Nationals and BTEC International are treated the same. Check your course page first, because an application missing the required A-levels is rejected automatically.
-
What if my King's College London application is rejected or delayed?
Use your remaining UCAS choices if an undergraduate application is rejected, and compare similar courses with higher offer rates. For postgraduate courses with a gathered-field approach, such as MSc Data Science, a decision may arrive after February. Message King's Apply once you hold an offer, or email newstudents@kcl.ac.uk beforehand.
-
What is the King's College London employment rate?
Employment data is published course by course rather than as one headline figure. Discover Uni, the official UK service, shows that 90% of BSc Economics graduates and 86% of BA English graduates at King's are working and/or studying 15 months after the course. KCL also states it is 6th in the UK for graduate employability (THE 2025).
-
Does King's College London accept state board students from India?
Indian school applicants need the High School Leaving Certificate from CBSE or CISCE only, according to KCL's India and South Asia page. State board certificates are not listed. Contact the King's Advisors before you pay a UCAS fee, because an application on an unlisted qualification can waste one of your five choices.
-
How much is the King's College London Vice-Chancellor's Award for Indian students?
The 2026-27 award was Rs.6,39,550 (£5,000) as a tuition fee reduction for up to 40 India-domiciled postgraduate students, and that round has closed. Earlier rounds gave £10,000 to up to 30 students. KCL has not published a 2027-28 round, so treat any value or date for 2027 as unconfirmed.
