Foundation For Excellence Scholarship: Basic Facts

The Foundation for Excellence Scholarship was started in 1994 with the objective of helping students who need financial support to continue higher education. So far, more than 38,168 scholarships have been awarded to 14,895 deserving students across 25 states in India. The scholarship is exclusively meant for students who have a financial need and are looking to pursue BTech, BE, MBBS or a five-year integrated BTech+MTech dual degree course.

The dates of the Foundation for Excellence Scholarship 2022 have been announced, and the process has begun. Students who have completed their XII with at least 70% marks are eligible for this scholarship program. The FFE scholarship is awarded on an annual basis, and its renewal is based on the student’s academic needs.

Foundation For Excellence Scholarship: Overview, Eligibility & Process

Academic Eligibility

  • Applicants should be studying in the first year of BTech, BE,  a 5-year integrated MTech dual degree or an MBBS.
  • They should have completed their Intermediate/Pre-University/Higher Secondary/ISC/CBSE studies with at least 70% marks in the last qualifying examination.
  • Applicants should have taken admission to any professional degree course in Medicine, Engineering, or Technology via any qualifying national-level entrance examination, the general/open merit rank based on the state or the counselling conducted at the state level.

Financial Eligibility

  • The annual family income or the gross family income of the applicant should not exceed Rs. 2,50,000 from all sources.
  • Along with gross family income, the education and occupation of the family members will also be a key deciding factor.
  • Students who are the first graduates in their families are given preference.

Scores Needed

Students who are joining IITs, NITs and Institutes where admission is offered on the basis of JEE (Main) Rank (Overall All India General/Common Merit Rank – Not Category Rank) should have different rankings to be eligible. The rankings based on the states are as follows:

  • For Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Odisha, Uttarakhand and Nagaland – 75000
  • For Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka – 5,000
  • For Gujarat, Kerala, Rajasthan, Punjab, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh – 2000
  • For Bihar, Delhi, Puducherry, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, and Jammu & Kashmir – 600
  • For Goa, Chandigarh, Sikkim, Tripura, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands – 500

If students are pursuing MBBS, their scores based on NEET (Overall All India General/Common Merit Rank – Not Category Rank) should be 40,000.

Note:

  • Diploma students who take lateral entry admission to BE/BTech courses are not eligible for the Foundation for Excellence Scholarship.
  • Students from BArch/BDS/BPharma are also not eligible.

Application Process

Once an applicant determines their eligibility for the scholarship, they can proceed with the selection process of the Foundation for Excellence Scholarship. Nowadays, the scholarship application form is available online on the official website. The applicants can easily log in and create an account using their Google, Facebook or LinkedIn accounts.

  • E-Aadhaar or scanned copy of original Aadhaar
  • Pension statement (in case a parent is retired)
  • An income certificate along with details about the size and nature of the landholding crop grown (for students whose parents are agriculturists, farmers and cultivators)
