Infosys Scholarship IISER

The Infosys Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune in 2016. This MoU was aimed at creating scholarship opportunities for the economically weaker sections of Indian society. Through this Memorandum of Understanding, a corpus fund of Rs 5 Crores was created. This fund was named ‘The Infosys Foundation Endowment Fund’. Through this fund, 50 students are aimed to benefit annually. Several scholarships, fellowships and travel awards, namely, Infosys Foundation scholarships, Infosys Foundation Fellowships, and Infosys Foundation Travel Awards were created out of this fund. The Infosys Foundation scholarships will be awarded to BS-MS students, Infosys Foundation Fellowships to integrated PhD students and Infosys Foundation Travel Awards to PhD students who have shown excellent potential in their research work. Infosys Scholarship – Prerana NGO

The Infosys Foundation awarded a grant to Prerana NGO in 2010. This grant was aimed at helping bright students who belonged to poor financial backgrounds. This scholarship is available to pass outs of the 10th standard. To qualify for this scholarship, the candidate must have scored at least 80% in their class 10th examinations and must also clear a written test conducted by the NGO. Other than this, the following eligibility criteria need to be met by the candidates:

• Total Annual Household Income less than INR 1, 50,000/-
• 75% and above marks in Class 10th or with a CET rank of less than 7,500 for engineering/medical students.
• Each case is reviewed by the Committee before selection for financial assistance at Prerana.

The organization will consider only the genuinely meritorious students and poor students for this scholarship. First, a Nurture Merit Test (NMT) is conducted. The test assesses your knowledge of basic arithmetic, reasoning, general knowledge and language skills. The selected candidates from the test are then taken through a round of interviews by Prerana NGO to understand their aspiration, potential, motivation and their economic condition. In the end, Prerana conducts house visits for each selected student to ascertain their living conditions.

The basic eligibility criteria for this scholarship is to be a BS-MS applicant at the IISER. To apply for this scholarship, you need to be successfully admitted to the BS-MS programme at IISER and then apply for this scholarship.

Infosys Scholarship – NGO Prerana

Grants Provided by Infosys Foundation

The Infosys Foundation has been involved in philanthropic activities since its inception. Apart from educational initiatives, the Foundation has provided funds for Healthcare, Culture, Destitute Care and Rural Development initiatives as well. • Instituted a fund where the sum will be used for the midday meal schemes for schools in Salem, Kadapa, Mylapore, and Chapra
• Granted funds to the employee-led CSR initiative of the Bhubaneswar Development Center – Akanksha. The funds will be used to manage Pratibha Poshak – a scholarship program for the needy students

• Helped Bangalore Association for Science with the development and maintenance of the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium and funded the sky theatre program
• Constructed a one-of-its-kind science centre in a rural school in the Kolar district of Karnataka
• The Library for Every Rural School project established more than 60,000 school libraries across Karnataka. More than 50,000 books were donated in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Orissa
• Provided books and learning materials to a mobile school called Door Step that provides free education to underprivileged children. It also constructed classrooms through Sparsh, Pune
• Partnered with Tata Institute of Social Sciences to students a hostel at its Mumbai campus
