This blog post is made to guide all the aspirants who want to immigrate to Canada for Credential Assessment. Certain Indian and Overseas Universities are recognised by WES – World Education Services. The qualifications or credentials obtained from these Universities in your home country will be considered for ECA – Educational Credentials Assessment.
As such, there is no list of Universities approved by WES for credential evaluation. However, they have flagged some universities which will not evaluate the documents and accept the credentials. WES access to your Degree, Diploma, and Certificate as per the Canadian System of Education. They then provide you with a valid point report that is related to your Education Qualification.
For any Indian student wanting to pursue higher education in Canadian Universities, a WES evaluation is important. That is because it gives recognition to the credentials you gain from your home country.
According to the WES website, www.wes.org, “WES refers to Official ministries in India for evaluating and approving the university such as University Grant Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and other Govt. Entities that accredit universities and colleges across India.”

There are many more universities that WES does the assessment for. Other than WES, there are a few authorized and recognized bodies that will help you with the credential assessment for immigration, like the International Credential Assessment Service of Canada (ICS), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQS), and the Medical Council of Canada (official body for Doctors).
Do note that it is not necessary if one body is not approving your documents because of the university; others also will not. Your ECA can be done by any of the recognized or authorized bodies, and the only difference will be the time frame and the cost.

What if my university is not listed in WES?
It does not matter whether or not your university is listed in WES. You can still get your ECA done. Only the black-listed universities are considered non-recognized.
