Many pages online still say UiB charges no tuition. That was true before autumn 2023, but UiB now states that students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland must pay. Norway's cost-covering fee rule was removed on 1 August 2026, which allows each university to set lower prices.

UiB has not announced a reduction on its tuition page. Norwegian institutions usually publish fee levels around November, and the law change came too late to affect many 2026 decisions. Plan on the 2026/27 table of University of Bergen fees, and read the exact fee in your offer letter, because UiB says admitted students receive the precise fee alongside the offer.

University of Bergen Application Fees: What You Actually Pay Before the Offer

Students often search for the university of Bergen application fee for international students, so this is what UiB's pages show. UiB's application guide for non-EU/EEA master's applicants describes no application fee for the university itself. The fee it names is UDI's study-permit charge, currently NOK 5,400 (Rs.54,346), which you pay when you apply for the permit after admission.

Some third-party pages say you must "pay an application fee" at UiB without citing a UiB page. Treat that claim as unverified and confirm with UiB admissions through the UiB contact page before relying on either statement. The university of Bergen Norway application fee you should budget for is therefore the permit fee, plus these costs:

• Proof of both tuition and living funds at application. UiB requires non-EU/EEA applicants to document funds for tuition and living costs when applying, not only after the offer.
• An English test. IELTS Academic 6.5 in every component, TOEFL 90 or PTE 62, valid on the deadline date. Test-center prices vary and are not quoted here.
• Translations. Documents not in English or a Scandinavian language need certified translations.

University of Bergen Fees Beside Tuition: Semester Fee, Funds and Housing

The university of Bergen application requires living funds on top of University of Bergen fees. UDI's 2026/27 requirement is Rs.17.15 lakh (NOK 170,368) for a full academic year (UDI, also stated on Study in Norway). UiB's own page still shows NOK 166,859 for 2026/27, so quote the current UDI amount when you plan. UDI sets the 2027-28 amount later.

The Rs.54,346 permit fee is not in the totals. Your money moves to the Sammen deposit account, and UiB returns it after you receive a permit, arrive, register, and open a Norwegian bank account.

Counselor insight: Because the funds are returned, the cash you spend on University of Bergen fees is smaller than the total. The catch is timing: the whole amount must sit in the deposit account before the permit is granted, so plan the transfer, not just the total.

University of Bergen Bachelor Programs and University of Bergen Business School

Indian applicants searching for university of Bergen bachelor programs in english will not find them in UiB's offer for applicants abroad. UiB's 2026/27 list of programs open to non-EU applicants abroad contains only master's degrees, so no university of Bergen bachelor programs appear in it. Bachelor's applications run through Norway's national undergraduate service, which is aimed mainly at Norwegian citizens and permanent or renewable residents, and most courses it lists are taught in Norwegian.

The university of Bergen business school does not exist as a UiB faculty: UiB lists seven faculties, none of them a business school. Bergen's business school is NHH Norwegian School of Economics, a separate institution with its admission and fees. For the 2026/27 cohort, NHH charges NOK 204,000 (Rs.20.53 lakh) a year for master's and NOK 142,000 (Rs.14.29 lakh) for bachelor's and says 2027/28 fees will be decided in the first quarter of 2027.

Counselor insight: If English-taught undergraduate study is your goal, UiB is the wrong tool, because it offers no such route to non-EU applicants abroad.

University of Bergen Biology and Biomedical Sciences Fees for Indian Students

The university of Bergen biomedical sciences master's is on UiB's 2026/27 list of programs open to non-EU applicants abroad, priced at Rs.22.74 lakh (NOK 226,000) a year.

University of Bergen biology needs a caution. UiB's tuition table prices Biology and Molecular Biology at NOK 226,000, but UiB's Biology program page says it is currently unable to receive applications from citizens outside the EU/EEA/EFTA, and the March 2026 list of programs for non-EU applicants omits both. Confirm with UiB that your program is open for August 2027 before you pay for tests.

Counselor insight: A price listed on a fee table does not mean the program is open. Check the program page and the non-EU list against each other, and email the faculty if they disagree before you build a budget around a course.

University of Bergen Application Deadline, Portal, and Academic Calendar for 2027-28

The university of Bergen application deadline for August 2027 is 1 December 2026, and applications go through the university of Bergen application portal, Søknadsweb. UiB accepts one master's program per applicant, admits once a year, and gives no conditional offers to non-EU/EEA applicants, so your degree must be complete when you apply.
