One university in Singapore awards a Master of Public Health, and that is the National University of Singapore, through its Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health. Any list promising ten colleges for a masters in public health in Singapore is padding the count with programs that are not an MPH.

Here is what the school actually offers alongside the MPH, and where the other names on those lists belong. NUS describes its MSc in Health Economics and Outcomes Research as the only specialized program of its kind in Singapore. James Cook University’s Master of Public Health is taught from its Townsville campus or online, with fees quoted in Australian dollars, not from its Singapore campus. NTU’s Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine offers a Master of Science in AI in Medicine that welcomes public health specialists, but it is not a public health degree.

Eligibility for a Masters in Public Health in Singapore: Medical and Non-Medical Tracks

NUS splits MPH eligibility into two tracks, and the admission requirements page is explicit that meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission. Decisions are holistic.

Medically qualified applicants

• MBBS or equivalent
• One year of general clinical experience
• One year in public health, health administration, or occupational and environmental health
• Clinical specialty training or the NUHS Preventive Medicine Residency satisfies that second year

Non-medical applicants

• A good honours degree or equivalent
• Two years of work experience in public health, health promotion, health administration, occupational and environmental health, or clinical research

English and tests

• IELTS Academic 6.0 minimum, or TOEFL at the published minimum, valid two years
• The waiver covers degrees from Singapore autonomous universities and English-medium institutions in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK and the US, so an English-taught Indian degree does not exempt you
• No GRE or GMAT is listed
• A compulsory online numeracy test runs 5 to 7 January 2027, with details issued by 31 December 2026 per the how to apply page

The work experience rule is the fact most aggregator pages leave out. A BSc, BDS, BPT or nursing graduate with strong marks and no working years is not eligible this cycle, however good the application looks.

Counselor insight: Indian applicants routinely count the wrong things. A summer internship, an unpaid research assistantship or weekend NGO volunteering will not read as two years of public health work. A full-time role in hospital administration, quality, a CRO or a district health program will. At 18 months in, target August 2028 rather than burning an application fee now.

Fees and Total Cost of a Masters in Public Health in Singapore in INR

NUS has not yet published AY2027/28 tuition. The figures below are the current published rates for AY2026/27, and you should expect a modest increase for the August 2027 intake.

The school states that all local and international students are eligible for the tuition fee subsidy, which is what brings the international figure down from roughly Rs.75 lakh to roughly Rs.21 lakh. Prevailing GST applies to all fees, and miscellaneous student fees are charged separately and fall due with tuition. The acceptance fee of S$5,450 (Rs.4,10,222) is non-refundable and non-transferable and is deducted from your total program fee once you enrol.

For living costs, NUS advises international students to budget a minimum of S$19,500 a year, which works out to about S$1,800 (Rs.1,35,486) a month. Housing drives most of the variation, and campus housing for coursework master's students is limited.

Add the subsidised tuition and the minimum living budget and one year of a masters in public health in Singapore comes to roughly Rs.35.72 lakh, before flights, the Student's Pass, and the acceptance fee. Counselor insight: Treat the acceptance fee date, not the offer date, as your real commitment point. Families often accept the offer to secure the seat and then discover the education loan is two weeks from sanction. Once that Rs.4.1 lakh is paid, it does not come back.

Scholarships and Funding for a Masters in Public Health in Singapore

The school says tuition is subsidised by up to 70% for international as well as local students, and that scholarships and financial aid covering tuition and stipends are available. Two awards are worth naming: the Saw Swee Hock Master of Public Health Scholarship and the SSHSPH Master of Public Health Fellowship, both assessed on academic merit and leadership potential.

One caution. The TL Whang Foundation MPH Scholarship, which covers full tuition plus a monthly stipend, is open only to Thailand and Vietnam nationals. Indian applicants should not build a budget around it.

There is also a common confusion to clear up. Most Indian readers have heard that Singapore's MOE subsidy comes with a three-year bond to work for a Singapore-registered company. That bond attaches to the Service Obligation Scheme, and NUS Graduate School states that graduate coursework students admitted from AY2020/21 are no longer eligible for that scheme, which is why the MPH subsidised rate reads differently from the bonded tuition grant you may have read about elsewhere.

Counselor insight: Apply for financial aid inside the application window, not after you receive the offer. Indian applicants often submit the admission form in October, hear back in the new year, and only then ask about funding, by which point the assessment cycle for that intake has closed.

Application Process and Documents for a Masters in Public Health in Singapore

NUS also states it has engaged no external agencies for graduate recruitment and reserves the right to reject agent-routed applications, so apply directly.

Indian universities commonly take four to eight weeks, many will not courier to a foreign address without a written application and a fee receipt, and the school will only accept an electronic transcript from an email address published on your university's official website. Careers and Salaries After a Masters in Public Health in Singapore

The school says its graduates move into government agencies, NGOs, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. What Indian students underestimate is the pass position. There is no automatic post-study work permit here. Staying on means an employer sponsors you for an Employment Pass.

The Ministry of Manpower is raising the qualifying salary floor for new Employment Pass applications to S$6,000 (Rs.4,51,620) a month from 1 January 2027, and S$6,600 (Rs.4,96,782) in financial services. The floor also rises with your age. On top of the salary bar, most candidates must score at least 40 points on the COMPASS framework. If you enrol in August 2027 and graduate in mid-2028, you apply under the higher floor, so an entry-level public health salary may not clear it.

That makes two outcomes worth planning for honestly. Some graduates find a Singapore employer at or above the threshold. Many return to India, where an MPH from a university ranked thirteenth globally for Medical and Health carries weight in public health consulting, foundation and NGO program roles, health-system research, and pharma market access. Decide which outcome you are budgeting for before you sign a loan.

Counselor insight: Begin your job search in the first semester, not after the practicum. The pass is tied to an employer, not to your graduation, and a Singapore offer letter takes weeks to convert into an approved Employment Pass.

What to Do When Things Go Wrong With Your Singapore MPH Application

• Your registrar will not send transcripts directly. Use the WES route. WES evaluation reports sent to the school directly are accepted. Start it early, because verification adds weeks.
• Your referee only has a Gmail address. Find a second referee with an institutional ID, or ask the department to issue one. Personal email submissions are rejected outright.
• Your IELTS is below 6.0. Retest before 15 November 2026, which is the hard cut-off for test scores as well as documents.
• You missed 1 November 2026. There is no rolling admission. Target August 2028 and use the year to add qualifying experience, which improves the application anyway.
• The numeracy test window clashes with duty or exams. Email GDC_SPH@nus.edu.sg as soon as details arrive in December, not in January.
• Your Student's Pass is delayed into late July. Flag it to the school immediately, because missing the 26 to 30 July registration week triggers an automatic one-year deferral.
• You paid the acceptance fee and the loan fell through. That fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Speak to the school about deferral options in writing before you make any other payment.
