When I was a kid, I had a little pencil box which had these four buttons which gave the pencil box an operative use. When you press the button, the box would open up. When you press the second button, a little part of it would slide out. Basically it was just a little electronical and a fun thing to have and I owned it when I was in 6th. One day after break, I was standing and talking there with one of my friends and another friend of mine was running through the hallway and accidentally she pushed my shoulder and my pencil box hit the ground and it broke into multiple pieces to the point that it was not functional anymore.

It Ends With Us is a book I read recently. It's by the author Colleen Hoare. It's mainly a story about two teenagers, Atlas and Lily, and how they just handle their life going through high school, adolescence, and just domestic violence at home. Both of them come from very, very different families. However, they have one common determining factor between them, which is domestic violence. The abuse that they've seen their moms go through is just insane, and they connect through that on a different level. They're actually in the same high school, but they never speak to each other until Atlas actually crashes into an empty house next to Lily's villa. When Atlas is homeless and he doesn't have anywhere to go, he just comes and breaks into the house next to Lily's, and Lily helps him with all the daily necessities like clothes and food, medicines and stuff. Furthermore, their friendship blossoms into love, but it doesn't really fructify as Atlas has to leave. This book really gave me a lot of knowledge about domestic abuse and how to deal with it.

A few years back, my mother and I got the chance to visit a small sanctuary that was run by a veterinarian on the outskirts of my city. There I met orphaned animals of various kinds such as leopards, snakes, tigers, deers, raccoons, etc. Here, the person in charge of the place made us aware about different behavioral patterns that can be observed in various animals, how these animals interact with their habitat and the overall ecosystem in which they reside, most importantly, I got to know how human activities are harming these animals and what we as humans should undertake to prevent man versus nature conflicts. This place gave a memorable experience because it was the first time I could see these animals outside the wild and get to interact with them, observe them. However, this experience often leaves me wondering how and why these animals face the challenges they do.

So, recently I went on a trip to Bangalore, wherein I had a chance to visit the Banirkatta Zoo, which is at the outskirts of Bangalore, where there are various kinds of species, you know, lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, zebras, various types of birds, some of which I can't recall right now. I remember going into a caged bus as we were visiting non-domestic animals, and it wouldn't be safe for us to go via foot. I enjoyed and I tried to understand the history behind each animal, how it was discovered, found, you know, what it is famous for. I also took efforts to go out and beyond and ask the workers of the property as to how they handle their diet, what kind of medication they require, how do they analyse if they are not well, what kind of medication, again, differs from animal to animal. Talking about birds, I had seen various kinds of birds. Of course, the chirping and all always excites you, it makes you feel that you have come away from the city boundaries and you are in, you know, the outskirts. It's so fascinating to see sometimes, you know, the feathers and how beautiful they are just created by God, and that's something which really bamboozles me and I'm so happy to see this creation from God.

So, one place where I saw animals was a local zoo in my city. Its name is Kamati Bagh. It's a zoom cum amusement park. So, the zoo was quite large and had many different types of animals such as lion, tiger, giraffe, elephant, rhino, jaguar. It also had a pond, a lake where the water species were present such as fishes, crocodiles. I saw ducks there. So, it was quite interesting. I remember seeing the elephants the most because they were huge and very impressive. I was fascinated by how they moved gracefully despite their size. I also saw monkeys and jumping and playing from tree to tree which was very entertaining. The zoo had signs near each enclosure that gave information about the animals such as their habitat and diet which made the visit educational as well. So, I really enjoyed the experience because it allowed me to observe animals up so close which is something I don't often get to do in my daily life. It also made me think about the importance of protecting wildlife and their natural habitats. Overall, visiting zoo was both fun and informative and it left me a deeper appreciation for animals and nature. I would definitely like to visit it again in the future.

A place where I saw animals was when I visited a wildlife sanctuary near my hometown last year. It wasn't a zoo, it was more like a natural reserve where the animals roam quite freely, so the experience felt very different. I remember seeing deer, monkeys, and even a couple of leopards from a distance. The most exciting part was spotting a group of elephants walking together. They were so huge but surprisingly calm, and it was amazing to watch them moving as a family. What I really liked was that the animals weren't kept in small cages, they had a lot of open space so it felt like we were entering their world rather than them being trapped in ours. We had to sit in a jeep and drive through the forest, and the guide kept reminding us to stay quiet.

So the last time I saw some wildlife was when I went to trekking in a wildlife reserve near the district of Malappuram, which is my close friend's native place. So on that day I was with my friends and we decided to go trekking with her family to this wildlife reserve. So initially they told us that they would take us through the forest in a bus with a forest ranger on guard and then soon on the way they would show us some animals and then we would reach the trekking spot where we could walk by ourselves up the hill to get a beautiful view of the forest around. And the day started off good and as we went through the thick dense forest, initially there was no sight of any animals but soon after we spotted some wild bison as well as wild boars and they were walking around treading the forest without realising the humans were just passing by and the forest ranger also warned us about wild tigers or elephants prowling about the forest. So we need to be very careful and maintain silence throughout. Although we did not see any wild elephants, there was no sighting of wild elephants or we could hear their cries from afar.

When I was doing my fellowship during 2017-18, I was working in education to improve the quality of government school teaching. I was based at Sojangarh in Rajasthan and they had a sanctuary, a deer sanctuary in fact, the largest in Asia and I used to visit it very often with my colleagues and sometimes even alone. It was a huge sanctuary with a guest house and it had a lake in the middle of it and it had rare species of deers, of horned deers and that was the first time that I had seen various exotic species of deers. When I first visited Tal Chhapar Sanctuary, I felt like I was in another world because the stereotypical depiction of a deer is what we see in our folktales, in our books, in our comedies but these were beautiful animals with various sizes of horns and eyes and their furs, so every each species was so different from one another and you could just sit and look at them in awe and wonder. When I went around the lake, the deers used to follow us to sort of be close to us and that felt like a connection with the animals although we are very different from one another.

I once went to my native place and I saw beautiful, serene scenery right there. And when I looked deeply into those mountains, I found some interesting animals over there. Those were the peacocks, the deer, and they were just very amazing. And the peacocks were dancing in the rain like the little drizzly drops when we're falling on the mountains. The peacocks were dancing and the deer, they were hiding behind the trees. It was almost like a dream place to be in. I really loved to see those animals over there. And I also found the mountain bison, and I also saw the mountain squirrel, which was way, way more beautiful.

One of the most unforgettable places where I encountered animals was Spring Valley Paradise in Rotorua, New Zealand. I visited it during a holiday and the experience left a lasting impression on me because it combined breathtaking scenery with close and personal interaction with wildlife. The park is set amidst verdant hills, sparkling streams and expansive meadows. From the moment I entered, I was enveloped by the sounds of nature, melodious birdsong, rustling leaves and the occasional bleat of sheep in the distance. What made this place special was the diversity of animals. I saw everything from gentle goats and curious wallabies to vibrant peacocks flaunting their iridescent feathers. One of the highlights was hand-feeding a tamed deer. So feeling its soft muzzle and seeing the trust in its eyes was almost therapeutic. The enclosure was spacious and designed to replicate natural habitants, which made the animals seem more relaxed and content. So for me, visiting Spring Valley Paradise was not just recreational, it was a chance to connect with wildlife on an intimate level, cultivating empathy for living creatures and momentarily escape the fast pace of modern life.

Many years back, I went on a family trip to Taduba. So Taduba is a wide forest and there were many animals we saw, but one of the most significant memories I have is watching a tigress named Tara and her cubs. So Tara is a very famous tigress in the Taduba forest, there are many people who come to watch her, photograph her and one day we were travelling in the jeep and there was Tara sitting near a pond and there were her cubs playing around the water, just messing with each other and then we also saw Tara feeding her cubs and it was a very surreal moment for me watching animals so close. I had always watched animals on the TV before, but to see them in such close proximity and their natural habitat, it was just very surprising and it was very joyful.

A place where I saw animals was in Benarkatta National Park, which is located in Bengaluru, Karnataka. We went there in the last year with my family and my cousins. It was such a pleasure trip. Benarkatta National Park is famous for its quiet atmosphere, cleanliness. We reached there in the early morning. In front of the gate, a guide was standing there. He guided us throughout the day. At first, we went for wildlife safari. It was a closed van. The driver drove the vehicle through a narrow road inside the forest. At the sites, we saw animals like elephants, tigers, lions, bears, deers, mammoths, buffaloes. At that destination, we saw a herd of elephants. They were drinking water. That was a beautiful scenery. After that, we...
