UCL Scholarships for International Students

For Undergraduate Degrees

The following scholarships are available for international students; however, none are available for students applying from India.

These are as follows:

1. Denys Holland Scholarship for Financially Challenged

The Denys Holland Foundation awards scholarships to financially disadvantaged students who want to study at University College London as an undergraduate. International students are eligible for this scholarship.

Benefits: ÂŁ9,000 per year for three years, contingent on satisfactory academic success, with recipients having the option of using all or part of the scholarship to finance tuition. Any remaining funds are paid as a maintenance reward to the scholar.

2. UPC Progression Scholarships

Scholarships are given out based on academic achievement. The UPCSE/UPCH students with the highest academic achievement throughout the UPCSE/UPCH programme will be chosen as scholars. The financial situation is not taken into consideration. It’s a merit-based scholarship.

Benefits: ÂŁ5,000 per year

Application Process: There is no procedure for applying. All UCL UPCSE/UPCH students offered undergraduate admission to UCL will be considered.

3. UCL Hong Kong Scholarships Fund

The scholarship is awarded based on financial necessity. You’ll have to show that you can meet these requirements. For more information, please see the guidance notes and application form. An initial shortlist of applicants will be identified based on financial needs.

Benefits: ÂŁ5,000 per year

4. UPCE Progression Scholarship

Scholarships are given out based on academic achievement. The UPCSE/UPCH students with the highest academic achievement throughout the UPCSE/UPCH programme will be chosen as scholars. The financial situation is not taken into consideration. It’s a merit-based scholarship.

5. Ashinaga Africa Scholarship

It’s a merit and need-based financial scholarship.

Benefits: 30% of the tuition fees are covered.

6. UCL – United World Colleges And International Student House Scholarship (UCL – UWC/ISH Scholarship)

Scholarships are given based on financial need and academic achievement. There are two awards up for grabs.

Benefits: Qualified applicants receive coverage of full tuition fees, a maintenance stipend, visa costs, flights and free accommodation.

Application Process: To be eligible for the scholarship, you must first apply for admission to UCL. The scholarship application is only available through UWC Counsellors.

For Postgraduate Degrees or Diplomas

Following are some of the major scholarships available for postgraduate degree programs:

1. Bolashak Fee Partnership

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan offers the Bolashak Scholarship, which allows high-achieving Kazakhstani students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies at premier universities across the world.

Students can receive full scholarships from Bolashak for bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes. The Center for International Programs administers the programme, and rewards are given in subjects prioritised by the Kazakh government, such as engineering, science, medicine, law, and business. Bolashak scholars return to Kazakhstan after graduation to work in a range of government and service positions.

Benefits: 10% of the tuition fees are covered

2. Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI)/UCL MSc Scholarship

This is a one-time scholarship for September 2022–September 2023 in the United Kingdom. The Division of Infection and Immunity at UCL is funding this scholarship. The award is managed by AHRI and is open to applicants with academic backgrounds and interests that correspond with AHRI research programmes.

Applicants must be permanent residents of South Africa to apply for this position. Applicants must have an outstanding academic record to be considered for this opportunity.

At AHRI, candidates will be selected through a competitive process. The AHRI nominee will be led through the application procedure for admittance into an MSc taught programme, which is different.

Benefits:

  • Tuition for a one-year full-time taught master’s degree at UCL.
  • A round-trip economy ticket to and from the United Kingdom.
  • A 50-week stipend to cover housing and living expenses.
  • Surcharges for the National Health Service (NHS) and Tier 4 visa fees.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • At the time of application, you must be a permanent resident of South Africa.
  • A valid passport must be presented at the time of application.
  • A Bachelor’s degree with Second Class Division 1 Honour or 70 per cent in an applicable subject is required.
  • The successful applicant must be in London in September 2022 to begin their chosen programme.

3. Chevening Scholarship

Chevening Scholarships are a global scholarship programme run by the UK government and supported by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The scholarships are given to exceptional students with leadership potential. Most awards are for a one-year Master’s degree.

Chevening Scholarships are awarded to outstanding individuals who have been recognised as future leaders in various professions, including politics, business, journalism, civil society, religion, and academics. High-calibre graduates with the personal, intellectual, and interpersonal abilities required for leadership should apply for this scholarship.

Benefits: 20% of the tuition fee is covered

Eligibility Criteria:

  • At least 65% in the last qualification
  • IELTS score of 6.5 or above
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience

Application Process: Complete the application process of the choice of your country.

4. Commonwealth UK Scholarship

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) is the primary UK government scholarship programme focused on overseas development. Their work integrates sustainable development with the UK national interest by helping innovators and future leaders from around the Commonwealth and bringing excellent talent to Britain’s institutions.

The CSC provides postgraduate students from many nations with several scholarship options.

Benefits: 20% of the tuition fees are covered.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a national of one of the commonwealth countries

5. Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme (CSSS)

The Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme (CSSS) aims to help students from developing Commonwealth nations with strong academic credentials who cannot otherwise afford to study in the UK due to financial constraints. The scheme allows them to pursue postgraduate study at a UK university, which will enable them to contribute to the development of their home nations.

6. FUNED-UCL

In collaboration with the FundaciĂłn Mexicana para la EducaciĂłn, la Tecnologa y la Ciencia (FUNED), UCL contributes to a variety of grants for Mexican scholars. Master’s programmes are eligible for these rewards.

Benefits: 10% of the fees are covered

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a FUNED scholar

7. Colfuturo Fee Partnership

In collaboration with the Colombian non-profit FundaciĂłn para el Futuro de Colombia, UCL contributes to a number of awards (COLFUTURO).

Benefits: 25% of the tuition fees are covered.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Colombian students doing Master’s and 3-year PhD programmes are eligible for these prizes.

8. Colfuturo-semillero De Talentos Scholarship

These grants must be applied directly through COLFUTURO, using their approved processes. COLFUTURO-selected applicants who are also given a place at UCL will automatically be considered for the scholarship. Under the Semillero de Talentos grant programme, UCL partners with COLFUTURO to offer two scholarships worth 100% of the master’s degree tuition fee to scholars sponsored by COLFUTURO.

Benefits: Full tuition fees are covered.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a Colombian student.

9. Conacyt Fee Partnership

Several grants for Mexican scholars are co-funded by UCL and CONACYT. These grants are available for Masters and PhD programmes. This scholarship applies to students pursuing the following courses:

  • Arts & Humanities
  • Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment
  • Brain Sciences
  • Engineering Sciences
  • IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society
  • Law
  • Mathematics & Physical Sciences
  • Population Health Sciences
  • Social & Historical Sciences
  • Division of Surgery & Interventional Science in the Faculty of Medical Sciences

Benefits: 30% of the tuition fees are covered

  • Must be a Mexican Scholar
  • Applicable only for Master’s and PhD programs

10. Guatefuturo Fee Partnership

In collaboration with Fundacion Guatefuturo, UCL contributes to several awards (GUATEFUTURO).

Benefits: 10% of the tuition fees are covered

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Guatemalan students pursuing Master’s and 3-year PhD programmes are eligible for these grants.

11. Egypt Missions Scheme Scholarships

In collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education’s Missions Department, UCL co-funds several awards. These funds are available to Egyptian students who are staff members at an Egyptian university and are pursuing PhDs at UCL.

Benefits: 25% of the fees are covered

Eligibility Criteria:

  • For research students
  • Must be an Egyptian student

12. Daad (German Academic Exchange Service) Scholarship

In collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service, UCL contributes to several awards (DAAD). These scholarships are available to German students pursuing Master’s degrees.

Benefits: 30% of the tuition fees are covered

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a German student

13. GREAT Scholarship

The British Council and UCL are working together to support the UCL- GREAT Scholarships 2022. The goal is to provide financial assistance to China, Singapore, and Vietnam inhabitants. Academic excellence and financial necessity are considered while awarding the scholarship.

Benefits: 10,000ÂŁ for a year only

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Must be from China, Vietnam, or Singapore
  2. Has applied to UCL for a full-time Master’s degree in 2022/23.

Application Process: The deadline for the application process is 9th June 2022.

14. Oman Embassy Fee Partnership

In collaboration with the Oman Embassy, UCL co-funds several grants for students at all levels of study.

Benefits: 10% of the tuition fees are covered.

15. Turkish Embassy Fee Partnership

In collaboration with the Turkish Ministry of Education, UCL contributes to a number of scholarships for Turkish students. These scholarships are available for Master’s degree programmes.

Benefits: 10% of the tuition fees are covered

16. ANID Fee Partnership

In collaboration with ANID, UCL contributes to several awards (National Agency for Research and Development). PhD and Master’s programmes are eligible for these grants. Scholars whose tuition fees are paid by ANID under their regular award programme are eligible for a 25% contribution from UCL, with ANID contributing towards the remaining amount and giving a stipend.
